I heard all good things about Pawn Run, and we got a chance to visit just for a craft cocktail before dinner reservations elsewhere to celebrate our anniversary. They have a really nice selection of cocktails, and they were properly mixed & interesting. I would've loved to stay & sample their small plates, but my husband wanted a bigger meal. Based on atmosphere, friendliness of staff & taste of the cocktails I will definitely return. They are off the beaten path of the main touristy area of Deep Creek, but with seeking out. I have been to Pawn Run at least 5 times. I honestly thought I reviewed them already. My bad. Love this place! The staff is always friendly! Love music most times I have been there which is so nice! Small place but great vibes. Some highlights of my visits: The bartender last time made me a fantastic Negroni. The nachos are good but I usually swap out the meat for sweet potatoes. I was amazed by this place. We passed it on our way to our airbnb and circled back around for a happy hour dinner. We got the smokehouse nachos, the steak crostini, and the pear and prosciutto flatbread. The nachos were truly the best nachos I've ever had. It had a perfect amount of toppings, so that there was something on every chip. The crostinis were great with a generous portion of steak on each one. It was amazing, we stopped in for a late dinner. There was a live musician and the local low key atmosphere was perfect. Our waitress was so friendly and made great suggestions. Unique food items were fresh and delish! We ordered a variety of small dishes and shared everything- which was perfect because items come out when they come out, not altogether. So everything is hot and fresh. The soft pretzels were actually the best I've ever tasted! The small salad was sprinkled w goat cheese and granola- fabulous and big! We got the sweet potato quesadillas without the spicy chipotle sauce for my sensitive son, and the Brussels sprouts were fabulous! Also got an order of fries and sliders. Everything was delicious! We were in town during the off season looking for a low key dinner and came across the bar. The menu is smaller, but don't let it fool you. Everything is intentional and done well. Our server was great as answering questions. I had an All Nighter cocktail, an "extra" version of an espresso martini, and just as yummy. We shared an order of fries and the garlic herb mayo should basically be on everything. My husband enjoyed his burger sliders. I hope this place can continue to grow and I will know next time to plan ahead should there be a subsidiary event at PR. If there is music, that's fine but I would not have intentions of going back there for the purpose of food first. I view this establishment as a place where you can be entertained and then at some point order food to snack on. Unfortunate though because the food is good. I can imagine this place would be good for private events or parties or live music and all which I am sure they already do well with. The place is cute, quaint and clean and on target for their desired audience. Perhaps some easy fixes would make it more attainable for folks who are looking for a different place to dine. I would say a hostess is a MUST. I would say heavier staff on music nights is the second must. The third must is the food needs to come out either paced or all together. One thing to note is that food comes out as it's made, so in case you come with a big group don't expect everyone's order to come out at the same time. I really don't want to write this, because it means people may find out about this gem. It's far enough off the Deep Creek path that I don't think a lot of tourists know about it (we didn't) and those that do probably want to keep it that way. It's definitely a place where the well-off local crowd goes, if the quality of the cars in the parking lot is any indication. The kitchen is limited, but the attention to detail on the quality and flavor is great. Between us, we had the tacos (chicken and steak; all good but chicken better) and the sliders (great! Get 4!); The bar is also creative - I know how this sounds but get the daiquiri. It's a real one, not a slurpee. Service is ... very busy.
