They were shocked. Wrong pipe, careless installation and location of pipe in front of ceramic logs near opening was all wrong. Potential gas poisioning. I had to pay another $400.00 to correct & install a new setup according to CODE.

Dave my neighbor said occasionally we get Swallows - so cap will keep them out too!

Then, they gave me thoughts on what needed to be fixed on each of them that I could do on my own instead of paying the extra work for a professional to do it, telling me I could call back to walkthrough how to do it when the time comes. And, they filled sand into one of the fireplaces that was left bare by the previous owner with no charge. Very friendly, thorough, and honest service. Would definitely use them again.

I was skeptical that I was going to like it, but for a variety of reasons, it's what made the most sense. This other company inspected my unit and said I needed to replace the entire system at a cost of $12,000.00 to $20,000.00. They offered a 10% discount if I signed a contract at that moment and had them replace my unit the following week. I didn't sign the contract. Instead I called AirWorks for a second opinion. The AirWorks technician was friendly and knowledgeable. He inspected my unit and determined the system was working fine. He said the water pump had failed and that's why I had water on the floor. He was able to replace the water pump in just a few minutes and it only cost me a few hundred dollars. Since then my heater has been working well and I've had no issues. Moving forward I will always call AirWorks first because I trust them.

They came out and diagnosed it, and did the repair that day. Days later when I went to use it, same issue. They came back out and diagnosed two other issues, no mention of why we don't think that those things weren't present the first visit. So I paid for first and second visit. I think I should have been refunded the first visit since clearly that service didn't fix the job. Oh and the best is they already started trying to up sell me a whole new system...they installed mine 10 years ago. They were better 10 years ago.

He read the results from my test and reassured me that these types of tests are not the most accurate way to assess mold. He used multiple different tools and reassured me of negative results that we found! I have had experiences with other companies who come in, take advantage of your vulnerability and emotions and complete try to scam you. Shane couldn't be further from that. He was honest, explained everything and was extremely knowledgeable. If you ever have to deal with mold or asbestos, S&J is the company to use!

I recently found some black mold in my garage and needed it taken care of. Found out I needed to…read morehave some testing done to the drywall and joint compound first to make sure there wasn't any lead or asbestos. Was recommended S&J by one of the mold remediation companies, and through text they were able to schedule me in relatively quickly. Guy came in, was fast and friendly, did his thing. He noticed there was vinyl tile on the floor of the area I needed mold treatment so he asked to take a piece to test. I said sure. Results came back quick, and so did the invoice. They tried to upcharge me an extra $405. I replied to them saying that wasn't the agreed upon price. They "fixed" the error and knocked off $100 from the already inflated price, apologizing that they got some detail wrong in the invoice. I had to reply again, challenging that detail and the extra money they were asking for. It was only then that someone in charge finally got involved, explained they'd had me confused with another client, and backed down to the original quoted price-- but tacked on an extra $40 for the floor tile! I paid the invoice because this was 4 days later, but told them they need to disclose when something is going to cost extra. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. While I can accept an honest mistake, I was left feeling like they were trying to take advantage of me, hoping I'd just pay whatever they asked. Whatever the truth is, S&J Environmental Testing leaves a lot to be desired in regard to their customer service.

I like to use local, small businesses whenever possible, and his reviews were excellent. My mistake was not noticing how old they were. He advised it would take 4 to 4 1/2 hours to complete. He was there 5 hours when my realtor had to ask him to leave for the open house that was being held that day. He came back afterward to finish the roof inspection. He failed to complete an inspection for the kitchen due to "time constraints". However, he had time to note that there was a pet door that was a "safety" concern. He also stated that some items were issues that he was clearly wrong about ("minimal" strapping on a water heater that had 2 straps from a newly purchased kit and a third steel strap, replacement windows that he stated were the "builder type from the original construction"). While I appreciate thoroughness, spending time nitpicking every minor detail in a 61 year old house but not completing the full inspection I paid for is not acceptable. He did not get my name right on the report, even though I wrote it for him on the contract I signed. He did not provide the hard copy report that was promised, nor did he email it to me - I had to get it from my realtor. I'm giving him a 3 for thoroughness. If you have unlimited time to wait for this guy to complete the inspection, go for it. He may have been a great inspector in his prime, but personally I think he needs to hang it up and retire already.
