We have been in the house for nearly 10 years and never had the chimney cleaned. We burn Duraflame (or the equivalent) for a month or two during the coldest times of the year. We had Chris t at Barnett come out to clean for us. He was on time and explained everything he would do before hand. I found Chris Barnett Chimney on the internet because it was very hard to find a Chimney sweep that also cleans dryer ducts, and I needed both to be cleaned. In the 20 years I've lived in this same house, I've had my chimney cleaned by others, and none of them went on the roof to also check the chimney from the the top. It's a good thing he went on the roof, because he pointed out a dangerous situation I had. He said that the caps on the chimney were installed too low with very little air supply, it could cause the fireplace to overheat. He referred me to a chimney service company that could repair it. He also went the extra mile and saw that the mortar to the fireplace gas line came off, so he repaired that as well at no extra charge.
