As far as Canadian Chinese food goes, this place is good. By far the best sweet and sour (pineapple sauce) chicken balls I've had in BC.

First choice Chinese? Should be last choice. This place gave both my brother and I food poisoning. Do not order from here!

As the…read moresister restaurant to Maenam, you can really taste that same attention to balance, depth, and quality in every dish. My partner and I are regulars here. Some of our go-to favourites: green curry, pad see ew, gai lan with pork belly, and the Thai fried rice with grilled pork. The flavours are super consistent every single visit, which honestly is half the battle with takeout spots. Their rotating specials are also worth watching for m, and are always fun when there's something new in the mix. (my pictures don't do justice) It's definitely a bit pricier than your average quick Thai spot... however, the ingredients taste fresh and the portions are satisfying. Love the little thoughtful touches too: self-serve water station, compostable containers and cutlery, and an easy casual setup that works perfectly for a Quay lunch or dinner. I'm giving it a 4-star because the place closes at 6pm Mon-Thu and at 7pm on all other days. I always feel like I need to rush or have early dinner if I wanted to grab food from here. All in all, this is a solid Thai food option in New West. Basically, if Thai street food and elevated comfort food had a waterfront glow-up, this would be it!

I entered around 5PM on a Tuesday to an empty, slightly musty smelling restaurant. I chalked the smell up to the place appearing to be an old building. I was the only, yes the only person in the place. I waited a few minutes for the lady who told me to go ahead in to finally drag in off the smoke break to get a menu. I identified as a first timer, to which the heavily perfumed, probably, part/owner, waitress replied, "I know, if you weren't, I'd know you". I thought this was odd, but figured it was a strong locals haunt. Not tonight. The only other folks that graced the place while I was there were a loud, rough looking couple that looked more like they fit below a highway overpass than in a restaurant. The woman was looking for work, anything, janitorial, anything. I asked for the lady's recommendation. The Roast Lamb it was. A bowl of soup was good. The roast lamb was tender and tasty enough, but it wasn't very spicy. The rice was pretty good, the salad was weak. I had a couple glasses of house wine. All together, $42. I would not return and would not recommend this place. I should have read the lone Yelp review (not that I would have heeded the warning).

It's not that great and I've only seen 2-4 people eat in there at a time. I'm not sure how they're surviving but they are. I find their portions are too small for what you pay. I blame this on Stephos haha. Sometimes I find UFOs in my cup of water so I don't even drink anything when I go in there. Everything that goes down is hot food or from a pop can. I don't plan to eat here ever again. If I do then it would be because we have a company function here. The lady who serves us is an interesting character. I love her because she's very friendly and LOUD and she'd be the other reason why I'd return because she's entertaining to watch and listen to. If they worked on their food I'm sure they would be more busy. They're lucky they're surrounded by businesses because I think that's what is keeping them going. People will stop by here for some quick lunch or dinner.
