I'm a sucker for punishment. Had a craving for Chinese food and thought to try this place once again and hoping it has changed since the last time. Just order the dinner for two. Ss pork, chicken chow mien and beef chop suey. We got it home and dished it up. First bite of the chow mien and it was tough. Yeah I have never heard of tough chow mien noodles before. first for everything. I couldn't believe it. So I tried the ss pork and the pork was so chewy I couldn't eat it. Then there was the chow mien. I must admit the veggies were ok but the beef was chewy also. Feeling ripped off again and my hubby complaining about getting a crappy meal again. I called them. Oh how shocked they were... Yeah right. You should know you serve someone not so good food. Ok so she says they will give a ss pork and a chow mien next time so we don't have to take back the food. that day. I said what about the chow mien. :) they didn't want to give us a chow mien because the vegetables were ok. OMG... Just what I want the chow mien eaten with chewy meat on one day and the rest of the dinner on another. I couldn't believe it. As it was I had to be cooking something up for dinner since the food was no good. So I told her I would just pack the whole thing up and my husband will take it back so they can return our money and we just will not bother to try them out any more. We're new to the neighbourhood and tried this as our first Chinese option in the area, hoping to find something to match our hopes of a regular go-to spot. Unfortunately I think our search will continue... Most of the dishes are quite small for the price. That would be fine if the quality and flavour were stellar, but they were all quite boring and bland. We had 7 different dishes and only one of them was something that our group commented on being very good. That was the bbq pork fried rice. It was dark and smoky, and full of little bits of pork. Not bad. It was also a much larger portion than everything else. The rest were all more blasé. The saucier options - sting beans with garlic sauce, crispy ginger beef, and sweet and sour pork, were all surprisingly lacking flavour. The fried things are all quite oily too. The almond chicken was dripping with grease. On top of that, I found a long black hair tangled in my chow neon. Given the price, combined with general lacklustre flavour and other issues, it means it's really tough for us to rate this more than a 2 star experience. read more

This hard to find Chinese restaurant in Walnut Grove has cheap lunch specials and quite generous portions for dinner take out. Owners are friendly. Ambiance inside is the typical Chinese restaurant. Prices are not bad considering it's Langley. There are some more authentic options on the menu. I enjoy ordering the crispy chow mein dishes and Kung pow chicken. Spring rolls are huge!!! read more

This restaurant serves some Canadian Chinese food at decent prices. We stopped by for lunch and were seated right away. Tea, water and menus were offered. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, honey moon fried rice, chicken cream corn soup and one of the lunch specials. Food arrived in reasonable time. Service was good. Our server dropped off cutlery, plates and bowls for us to share our food. She stopped by a couple times to refill tea and packed our leftovers. Restaurant was clean and had a modern ambiance. Definitely, not a hole in a wall feel. Ample parking available on the plaza. Best part we were able to use an Entertainment Coupon on the regular priced entrees to save a little bit of money. read more

We tried the Chinese food here as had a couple terrible experiences so time to try a new place. Ordered 3 dishes - chicken chow mein, beef with green beans and black bean sauce and garlic dry spareribs. It was $45 a bit pricey but tasted very good, especially the next day when flavours marinated into the food. If I had to make a suggestion it would be to flavour the chow mein a bit more. I liked it was on the dry side though not greasy. read more

Ordered and meal for 2 and the ss pork was tough and couldn't eat it and the chow mein if you can believe it was tough too. Chewy I don't know what was wrong with. Maybe not cooked I don't know but it was inedible also. The chop suey was ok I guess didn't really eat it due to the rest of the meal. Called the place and they were only going to give us a the two dishes the next time we go back. I thought how cheap can they get after I had to drive down and get the food then to find out it's no good. Chop suey doesn't go with anything but chineese food and they didn't want to give us the whole dinner for 2. My hubby ended up driving to returning the food and got our money back while I made dinner. Nice... needless to say we will never go there again. I can except a bad day and things do go wrong. But to get down to it its how you deal with mistakes shows your the inteigrity of that place. Which isn't much. read more

If there was a rating lower than one star... Why is it that some people have no respect for the customer. You lost customers today over a piddly little coupon argument. Went in for dinner with 4 of us, with 2 Entertainment Book coupons. Entertainment Book rules say up to 3 coupons per table/group, but the manager here says only 1 coupon per group. we were ready to order our normal amount, plus add a couple of free entrees. They argued with us, and made up feel small and cheap. They missed out on $100 meal, or more. Thanks ... won't be back. read more

Beware if you are wanting the traditional North American deep fried chicken balls, as they are no longer. It's been a while since we ordered from here and I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls as usual. They came breaded, in a sauce, nothing at all like chicken balls are supposed to be. We had takeout so didn't realize until home. Also got crispy ginger beef, which was not crispy at all but soggy. If that's what you want, then great but I just wanted to warn in case it isn't. read more

This is probably the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Got take out rice, chowmein and sweet and sour pork, pretty standard stuff for Chinese. It was so dry I couldn't finish it, it looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. It was a combo dish off of the menu that I'm pretty sure they make up far in advance and sell to unsuspecting customers who think their cooking it when you order. This is my favourite Chinese food place! We order delivery from here a lot and it's always hot, fresh, and so delicious. I find a lot of "Western style" Chinese places too greasy, no flavour usually but this place is amazing. The food is flavourful without being too "heavy" and they have great deals on the Dinner for Two, Dinner for Three, Four etc combos. I've visited this place a few times and always for lunch. I usually select 4 items for $10. The food is prepared nicely. The flavour is excellent and portions are generous. I was pleasantly surprised thinking that a strip mall Chinese restaurant may not be up to par. I'm glad I was wrong. Decor is dark, comfortable and spread out tables. Lots of room. The hostess is very friendly and is quick to serve you. Whenever I'm remotely close by I'll come by for their lunch specials. read more

Excellent Chinese food! Small and unassuming but clean and inviting strip mall location, not easy to find and not at all busy at 8pm on a Saturday night. We order from here at least once a month since they first opened, and have never had bad food or poor service. We've never eaten in the restaurant itself, but the delivery has never let us down. Over the years, we've had Chinese food from everywhere in Walnut Grove, and so far Dragon River has been our favorite. First time I've ordered from them, was told the wait for delivery would be 30-40 minutes. After an hour and half I called the restaurant and they said the food wasnt ready yet and itll be ready in about 30 minutes. When we saw this place, we thought this place would be very small. It turned out that, though it looked small, it was a decent size. We really liked the food, and we loved the wonton noodle soup. The kids loved this place. The decor was modern, but still homey. The customer service was great too! We are big fans of this place and we will try to come again soon. read more

Love this restaurant, the staff is always courteous and service is quick. It is great that I can order most of their items MSG free and they arrive just as quick as their regular items. The Sweet and Sour is without question, the best. I have lived in Walnut Grove for almost 3 years and only just discover this great restaurant by accident a few months ago. It is too bad that they are tucked way in the back of the mall without appropriate signage, I know it is the building management that won't let them put up better signs, which is simply an indication of poor management by the management company. Writing about the restaurant has made me hungry, I think Sweet and Sour, Almond Chicken along with Beef and Broccoli is on the lunch menu for me today :) read more
