James was our mechanic and we had computer problems with our Audi. I was very impressed with his efforts to help us but we ended up having to be towed to the dealer in Sacramento. 350 miles from home, blew the steering high pressure hose. This also happened away from home some years back and it took 3 days to fix, tow fees, taxi,, rental car and hotel. So its a van and you can't even see the part with the hood open. With no friends, relatives or any contacts in Redding. It was really stressful and depressing, so i asked the tow dispatcher where to take it, and i misunderstood him and called Richard's, they said they would make room and they fixed it in 2 hours, so who does that, I'd still be on hold with ford's service department. I can't say enough about the incredible service I received from Richards Automotive. I was on a cross-country drive from California to Canada after 4 months of living in my van when my radiator broke at 9:00 pm--well after hours. We had to be in Spokane Washington by 2pm the next day when the radiator broke so my friend driving me to Canada could catch his flight back to LA. Just when I thought I was going to be stranded, Richards Automotive came to my rescue. Even though it was late, they responded immediately and had us back on the road in no time. Alone, James found a perfectly matching radiator at a near by shop (an actual miracle) installed it and we made it back on the road that night. He also explained everything he was doing the whole time, eased my anxiety and was VERY reasonably priced. He even (very non judgementally) taught me where coolant goes haha. He even gave us ice cream sandwiches because it was late and we hadn't eaten. His willingness to help out at such a late hour and the quality of his work truly exceeded my expectations. Watch out! These guys told me I needed a whole new clutch when I took my Ford in to have it looked at and quoted me $1500 for the job. Turned out all it was was an air bubble in my clutch line, my brother came over and bled the line in less than an hour. Don't reckon I'll be doing business with this company in the future read more

so I'll start off with this being very disappointing because I was recommended to Richard's with a very positive outlook and was completely let down. I brought my 2008 dodge charger in about a year ago. my MIL light was on, coming up as my cam sensor. so they replaced that and nothing changed. then proceeded to replace my timing belt, plenum upper intake manifold (used part but tested my manufacturer and has now been tested on another vehicle and is great), water pump, coolant temp sensor. My battery. Also after it arriving, my radiator was cracked/needed replaced (just odd that videos I've watch on replacing timing belts in my model car, cracking the radiator is more than common due to space/difficulty reaching part, was fine before dropped off.) but I had trust in them and replaced the parts and had the work done. Nothing changed. The battery ended up being good, the repairs (nearly $3000 with parts and labor) did absolutely nothing. I was told to buy a new upper manifold again, the one I bought was slightly used yet tested and I'm so glad I didn't because that would've been $1000 more than I already wasted. I know am finding out (a year later due to not even knowing who to trust and being so broke from the 1000s I have invested) that its a wiring issue. my signal wire is only reading 3v and should be reading 5v, So it's something in the wiring to that sensor. (The cam sensor) I spent 1000s of dollars, to not even have them offer to make it right or continue helping me fix this. Instead just sent me on my way, with my broken car, I paid them to fix, to figure out that I was basically ripped off and now broke. Car still broke, no change. I wish they would make it right and keep up to the great name they are known for. I still haven't even gotten my car fixed fully, at least now as of today, I know what is causing the problems but it's still not fixed and it's still put me out thousands of dollars. :( Very dissatisfied and very upset about my service. read more

First time taking one of my vehicles to this auto repair shop . Had smog / check engine light on , also had serpentine belt slipping . They called me to let me know what they found and recommended what it would take to fix the issues. For the smog parts to fix would be $113.00 parts + $285 labor + Tax 8.23 Total $406.75 . And gave me a quote of just over $400.00 to replace serpentine belt ,tensioner pulley ,and upper and lower idler pulleys . I went to outo parts got all 4 parts at the cost of $125.00 for all four . Replace them all in less than 1.5 hrs . I did not have the experience of smog or tools to do it myself, too bad lol read more

Before the true cause of my oil loss was discovered, I was given grim news and a rather startling bid, nearly $2,000.00. I had no choice but to get my car fixed, and when I returned to pick it up a few days later, my bill was less than $600.00. We left our car with Richard's Automotive for repairs, while we were on vacation. As usual, we were very happy with the results. We have entrusted our vehicles to Richard and his staff for over twenty years now. One time, when our family was out of state, our car started acting up. We took it to a mechanic that kept our car for the whole week, fixed everything but the real problem and charged us a couple thousand dollars. We had to drive it hobbling home from WA to CA.
