I have used this car service for years now. I want to support my local cab company. I am satisfied with their service...most of the time. Nothing is absolutely perfect. Some drivers are very good, and some others can be rude and don't listen to you...particularly if you are female. My disgust is mostly with their app. It does not always work for me. I a not sure why. The dispatchers are the rude ones...they do not let you talk to them. They will hang up before you get a chance to say anything, but I have also experienced this with other cab companies. Freddy my driver picked me up from the emergency room to my apartment. I could barely walk and didn't have any cash on me. He drove me to an ATM near my house to obtain the cash. Although I could barely walk and was in pain Freddy was kind and considerate of me and escorted me on his arm to help me walk to the ATM location and back to his car. Extremely unprofessional, I walked up to the window to request a taxi and there was an old white woman at her desk which rudely told us no, their taxis could only seat two people. We then proceeded to ask if we could request and SUV and she shoos us away with her hands and continues to ignore us which was really irritating. I would have selected zero if I could. I recently reserved a round trip with them, they did drive me one way but when I called for the return I was first told 'a driver will call you directly' A half hour later, "we are still working on it", at the 45 minute point the last person tells me this gem: "We do not have any driver who wants this run, what do you want me to do about it?" Needless to say I will never use them again! You don't have driver who wants to get paid? That makes no sense. In this economy. I mean give me a break. To give you perspective: I have been with this service exclusively for three years, using for a mix of medical transportation and non-medical/personal transportation. Last year my insurance wanted to switch me to their preferred provider and I literally fought this asking for supervisor after supervisor. Throughout the years I have bad experiences (they are fond of packing strangers in the cars especially on Manhattan runs, one time they packed 5 people like sardines in a Toyota Camry small car - NOT van, and then I was picked up first, was quiet and the rude and angry passengers got dropped off first despite the fact I was picked up first and closer to the exit on the highway - he said 'oh you have to deal with it. and also told me how everyone will get billed separated for the same amount), but nothing like this one. I guess this was the straw that broke the camel's back. That day in question I called my insurance who gave the call to Premium Radio Dispatch to see if they could come. Not only did they not show, but both me and my insurance provider kept getting busy signals. After a very long wait of over two hours, I asked my insurance to reach out to Agape. They were there in under 11 minutes! The driver was polite something I haven't experienced with First Class. Guess who just lost this customer? While I was waiting for both of those cab services, I literally witnessed Agape drivers arriving well before the patients came down to the lobby. I didn't see any of their patients waiting for a driver. So I am going to switch. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS TAXI SERVICE. read more

The worst taxi service I've ever used. I got assigned to this car service to get to my medical appointments. Going to the appointment, the driver was late. She arrived at 2:20 for a 1:30pm scheduled pick-up. Coming BACK from the appointment my scheduled pick up was 4:30 pm and I'm still stuck at the hospital at 6:27. I just got off the phone and at almost 6:30 they said they were STILL looking for a driver. I was recommended to First Class from a friend who also lives in the same neighborhood. I called twice over the phone to get the rate to JFK from west Harlem. The first time I called they confirmed that the rate was 65.00. When I returned home I called for a second time to book the reservation. At this time I asked for them again to confirm the rate. Again they confirmed the rate was 65.00. The car service did arrive on time. The driver pulled up and did not offer to assist me with putting my luggage in the trunk. At this point I managed by myself. I figured the driver was not motivated and perhaps he wasn't concerned about a tip. 30 minutes later we arrived. The driver said the fee was 75. I explained to him that I was quoted 65.00 twice by the dispatcher. The driver called dispatch and continued to challenge the 65 vs 75. At this point I told the driver that I was going to file a complaint. He continued to challenge the 65 vs 75. In all First Class was trying to scam me. I will never use or recommend their service. Further more they are a dishonest service and not trustworthy and they are most likely violating the law. First Class should change their name from First Class to NO CLASS. Never again. read more

Horrible company - stay away. We arranged for a medical transportation through them, they delivered the patient there and plain refused to pick her up for over two hours. Every time we called they told us they will call us when the driver is on the way. This has been going on for over two hours and the driver never came. They just left the patient at the doctor's office and disregarded the responsibility to pick her up. If you value your time and well-being please stay away from this service. First Class cars and SUVs regularly idle outside my building honking at everyone who walks by...at 7am! They park in front of fire hydrants, in bike lanes, in commerical parking lots and double park, disturbing the flow of traffic and putting people at risk. This behavior has gotten worse in 2010. I have used them in the past, but will not be using them anymore. I encourage everyone to use only car services that respect the people and neighborhoods they serve. Now they are crap to me and I will never use their service again. 3 times with different drivers I have wanted to jump out of the car. EACH time I've called to explain (as rationally as possible) the various problems with the service, and spoke to "Jenny", the supervisor.... She has not once offered any true customer service, simply telling me that in the future I should request drivers in a specific way so I don't run into these problems anymore. SERIOUSLY?! So now according to Jenny I need to: * ask for someone who takes credit card * request someone who speaks even a moderate level of English * request someone who either knows where they are going and/or will use their GPS to figure it out * ask for the rate for my destination (because the drivers never seem to know and ask ME to call in for it) I had a REALLY important meeting this morning. I allowed plenty of time for my timely arrival, yet the driver was totally incompetent, refused to use his GPS, didn't know where he was going, didn't listen to me in English OR to my colleague who spoke Spanish! 2 blocks from where I needed to be in Brooklyn, he got us all turned around and then took the ramp onto the f-ing Brooklyn Bridge BACK to Manhattan. We were yelling "No! stop" - but it was too late. Because he just did whatever he wanted and only getting on the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn did he FINALLY turn his in-car GPS on....stating he didn't know how to find "Brooklyn" on it. I'm sorry. What? That's a driver?? I was over 30 minutes late for an appointment I would have arrived right on time for if he hadn't have done that. I called the car company (First Class Car Service) and they wouldn't even discount my fare. At the end he apologized and charged me $5 MORE than what the supervisor told me the fare would be. Um, I guess. Now each time I book they tell me I should have to go through the ridiculous list to request what I think should be standard/basic services offered for a car service?? I should have to do all this so I don't have to navigate in the back seat while the driver either (doesn't listen to me, has the radio blaring, is just choosing to ignore me, or can't understand very simple phrases like "please exit here")??? I am SO DONE with First Class Car Service. I signed up for Uber today and took them on my return home. The ride was efficient, the driver was courteous and the charge at the end was almost the same what I paid for the crappiest ride of my life with First Class. I've lived up in Inwood for the past 5 years. I will only use First Class when I need to go to the airport from here. I've never had anything but courtesy when I've called, being put on hold doesn't bother me (the people on here that griped about that obviously aren't used to the Dominican car services, which also are the local taxi service, so they are very busy fielding calls for local trips). The cars are always pristine, smell nice, courteous and knowledgable drivers who drive well & get you there on time. And they always show up. When I lived downtown and used Carmel and All State, I was lucky if they actually showed. A word to those using Inwood car services in general: they are the local taxis. If you don't need something specific, hail one on the street. Know what the reasonable price is for the location you're traveling to, and always ask how much they are charging before you get in the car, because some are rip offs. Some of those will recant when you refuse to get in. You can bargain with these guys. But be fair in your bargaining because they are trying to support their families & work pretty darn hard to do so. read more

Like with any car service, there is no point trying to talk to them on the phone. They are too busy fielding calls and no matter what you ask will always answer with "Ok, two minutes". That said, the cars do show up within two minutes and the drivers are great. Used them a lot when my wife was pregnant and they were just fine. Horrible customer service over the phone, long wait times, and when you get someone to answer, they put you back on hold. The ladies that answer the phone are so rude as well, don't expect much. My friend had to move from a sublet on 207th and Isham to another sublet on East 7th between B+C. As I contemplated the nomadic nature of living in NYC we called First class. We inquired if they had a mini-van or SUV they did. The SVU arrives-shiny, sparkling with a suit clad driver who helpfully shuffled some items as we loaded them. The cost for this was $60 maybe steep but he was so pleasnt, the SVU so clean and the drive down the FDR so pleasing. We did have to deal with the people on the phone who were pleasant but there was a mild languge barrier. It all worked out. I would recommend First class to people in the area with the caveat that I think our experience was out of the ordinary. read more

The driver was nice though. Just way too expensive, ya know? Sigh. This is the only car service I will use. Their cars are always clean, in great condition on the inside AND outside, and the drivers are polite and friendly. I usually end up conversing with them for a while, and they usually end up knocking a couple of bucks off the fare for a good chat. The phone people are sweet, they always show up at my door in two minutes, and the drivers drive safely-NOT like some madmen I've had from other companies (or Yellow Cabs) who zoom, swerve, and curse out other drivers loudly. First Class doesn't stress me or themselves out like that. They have SUVs and will do airport trips for the most reasonable rate around. I recommended their service to my mom, a world class worrier, because I knew they'd take care of her and offer her a pleasant experience. I highly recommend First Class! read more

2 stars - we did not reserve a car service - they flagged us down when we were waking to the taxi line @ JFK Pro: takes credit cards, clean, fast CONS: (1) they told us "same price as regular taxi - $65 from JFK to UES". IT WAS NOT. it was $65 JFK to UES, plus $15 for toll (usually only $5), plus $5 for credit card fee (total of $85) (2) they lied to us when they said they were UBER so I couldnt get my AMEX cash back (AMEX had a deal where if you use uber and spend $50 or more, i get $20 back). bottom line? i would use a cab. it had all of the pros (takes credit cards, clean, fast) but without the hidden expenses. (used NYC Taxi from UES back to JFK and they only charged me $63.38 including $5 toll and including tip) also wanted to point out - our driver did not speak english well (we had to repeat "1st and york" over and over again) and while he was driving we were looking at google maps on our phones and he passed our block by 3 blocks before getting to the correct destination (one way streets) so seemed like he didnt know where he was going. read more
