I recently needed transportation from Crown Heights to Long Island on two consecutive days, and this being the car service closest to my place I decided to give it a try. The person on the phone was very knowledgeable, quoted me a reasonable price, predicted time of travel for that time of the day, and told me to call just a few minutes in advance the morning when I needed car service. He also told me that they accept credit cards. The morning when I needed the car, I had to call twice since the car showed up ten minutes late. The car was clean, the interior a bit on the small size. The driver didn't know how to get to where I needed to go, and didn't have a navigation system. Luckily I had printed out the directions with me. The ride was smooth and we reached destination faster than expected. I wanted to pay by CC, as I originally mentioned to the dispatcher on the phone, but the driver said he needed to call the office and asked. I just paid cash and asked for a receipt. The day after, I hesitated before calling them again, but decided to give them a second chance. This time the car showed up on time, the car was much bigger and more comfortable, and even know he didn't know how to get there the driver had a navigation system with him. Just like the day before, the ride was smooth and faster than expected. I paid cash without asking whether I could pay by CC. Today was my first time using Monaco Car Service and it absolutely will not be my last. From the dispatcher taking the time to go over their rates with me at 12 midnight to their pleasantly taking my call and car request at 5:45am, it was one of the most friendly, concise, and informative over the phone experiences I've had with a car service in all of NYC. Once my driver John arrived (promptly at 6:15am) he patiently waited for me (without honking) outside of my building... you would be surprised at how often and for how long drivers will honk a horn on a residential block in this town. John greeted me pleasantly took my bags and opened the door for me. The car was a sparkling clean Black Suburban. Best of all, he took me on the most direct route to Laguardia Airport. After getting there in record time checking in and on my way through security, I realized that I accidentally left my cellphone in the backseat! AHHH!! But I got in touch with the dispatcher and wouldn't you know, John jovially drove ALL THE WAY back to the airport to give me my phone in time for me to comfortably make my flight in time!? So I mean....it's a car dispatch place. There's really not that much that can go wrong. I've never had a car show up late and communication with the company has been super easy. For the most part, I give the cars 4 stars in terms of cleanliness (most were 5 stars but there was this one time where it just really smelled like gasoline and ugh). They show up on time and if you ask, they'll give you a fairly good estimate of how long it will take to get somewhere. I use them for getting to JFK from my home and they have a flat rate of $35 +tip which is cheaper than yellow cab prices but probably about the same as a gypsy cab. I didn't give it a 5 star because recently, I was asked by a driver to sit in the front seat because I guess this guy isn't a licensed driver? Sketchy...but the guy was nice and got me to the airport safely and comfortably. read more

I just moved to prospect heights from park slope and needed a car to pick me up from JFK on a redeye back from LA. I google mapped this place, called them, and was told a car would be waiting for me. Great! The next morning I get off the plane and called for the car. The dispatcher, who I couldn't understand, had no idea about my car. Not only that, but he was rude and made no offer to send a car or get me home. So at 5:30 in the morning, after a redeye and long business trip, I had to take a taxi home (which turned out to be 10 dollars cheaper than they charged). These guys are unreliable and rude! I needed a taxi this morning at 6:30am and knew from experience that it was difficult to get a yellow cab in my area of Brooklyn, unless I literally stood outside the Barclay Center. Now wanting to subject myself to that ordeal I decided to try a car service. I called Monaco the night before and got a quote ($30 for a ride from Prospect Heights to E. 54th and 1st). The dispatcher told me I'd have to call back the morning of to get a car. $30 was by far the cheapest quote I got (I called a few services (~$40), checked the Uber app ($55), and knew from experience that a yellow cab would be around $40+tip. This morning I called around 6:15 and the dispatcher told me someone would be in front of my building in 6 minutes. I went downstairs 5 minutes later and waiting right outside was a black town car. The car was clean, roomy, the driver was super nice and generally knew where he was going (also the car had a gps). The driver got me to my destination safely, comfortably, and on time. Cost me $35 to go from Crown Heights to LGA, and I was able to arrange a 3:45am pick up on the night before so that I didn't have to worry about anything that morning. *Call to confirm your pickup*. Worth repeating: after making a reservation, call 30 minutes to 1 hour before your pickup to confirm your reservation. Paying with cash costs less. If you want to pay with a credit card, call the number you dialed to make your reservation and give them your credit card information. I have used Monaco to go to the airport many, many times (30 or so) and I've had good experiences when following the advice I mentioned. One last thing: I would not use them to get picked up at the airport, they are less reliable for airport pickups than deliveries. read more

They get me to LaGuardia in a hurry from Lefferts Garden for 30.00. The same ride in a metered taxi is closer to 50.00. So far they are 4/4 but I have only used their service for early flights, so 4:00am or so. read more

Monaco is great when you call them and just need a ride right then, but reservations are not their strong point. They basically left me stranded on LI tonight because they just didn't have the reservation. They tried to remedy it, but I was an hour outside of the city, which means they would have arrived way late. Call them if you need to go to the airport now, but not if you need them to pick you up from the airport in a week. Oh and they have different rates if you pay cash or use a credit card. read more

Flashback to July 2014- I was leaving to fly to Michigan and had plans to wake up nice and early around 6 AM and get to the airport for my 9 AM flight at Newark airport. Was going to get an Uber and cruise on over. Yeah, that didn't happen. Instead, I overslept, woke up at & 7:45 AM, screamed to my boyfriend, "Oh FUCK!" and frantically scrambled to get dressed and out the door. The bf immediately called Monaco, who arrived 10 minutes later. Took my booty straight the airport in 30 minutes flat and I paid $65 from my apt in Brooklyn. I was so relieved and happy. The driver was awesome, helped me with my bags and wished me a good trip. Plus when I need them for local drives, I've never had trouble getting a car and the prices are reasonable. They said "five minutes" and they were at my place in five minutes! The car was clean and air-conditioned (and had a tiny disco ball dangling from the rear-view, cute)! I really try NOT to write negative reviews about businesses but I would be doing a disservice to anyone else by not sharing my experience with everyone. I first called on a Sunday 2/8 and made a reservation for Friday 2/13 at 1130am. My reservation was to be picked up from my house in crown heights and taken to La Guardia Aiport then a ride from La Guardia back to Crown Heights immediately I was quoted $30 per trip. I received a call the next day, Monday 2/9 at 1130am saying my car was outside. I told the dispatcher he was mistaken and the reservation should be for Friday. He said he would reschedule. I called back Thursday 2/12 and told the dispatcher I needed to change my reservation. I told him instead of being picked up in brooklyn, I only needed to be picked up from the airport and would need to stop in Harlem before stopping in brooklyn. He said, "No problem." Everything was fine when the driver picked us up and we stopped in Harlem. As we approached Barclays center on Atlantic, he asked me how much the dispatcher told me the trip would be. I told him I was told $30 for LGA to Brooklyn. He called the dispatcher and the dispatcher said my total was $87.50. I thought this was a mistake. I was definitely expecting to pay more than $30 for stopping in Harlem but I thought $87.50 was outrageous! I expressed to the driver that I felt that was an unfair price and I felt as if they were trying to get over on me. He calls his dispatcher and we go back and forth for about 10 mins. I said I felt $65 would be a fair price. The dispatcher and driver, who's name is Angel, were unwilling to do anything at first then the driver said he would accept $80. I felt misinformed by not receiving a more accurate quote when I confirmed the reservation. I was ridiculously overcharged and not happy at all about it. As we pulled to my house I pulled out my credit card and Angel tells me there's an additional $8 charge to use my credit card. I WILL NOT EVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER PENNY. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THEM, PLEASE GET CONFIRMATION OF YOUR TOTAL AND PAY WITH CASH. I wish they were willing to do more for me so that I could've at least considered using them again. As a business owner aka the dispatcher, I would do my best to retain customers. He offered NOTHING. The driver at least discounted $7.50. I'm extremely disappointed and feel unfairly treated. Needless to say, it was NOT there and we had to end up using them because we would have been late for our flight. We ended up strapping her in to a regular seat belt - definitely not idea. I have used this car service five times. Bottom line, I cannot call them again. Cons: - Drivers are always twenty, thirty minutes later than time quoted. - I have to work each time to call repeatedly and ensure the cars are on their way. It is ridiculous. - I am not able rely on their services for my business needs transporting clients and myself around Brooklyn and Manhattan. Aside from being annoying, as a business of our own, this makes us appear unprofessional. Astonishingly bad! I've tried them several times since they're near my place & would be very convenient. That's if they weren't so horrible. Was just dropped at the airport in the early morning... No effort to help me with my bags at all at either end, stopped to get gas on the way, lied to me and claimed a higher price once at the airport, AND... Best yet... left me at the international terminal for my airline which I didn't realize... Since it f*cking appeared to be my airline. I used to live right across the street from their HQ on Washington & Park Pl. in Prospect Heights. I started calling them out of sheer convenience and haven't stopped using them since, even after I moved to Brooklyn Heights. They are always prompt, the drivers are super friendly, the cars are clean, and the price is always right! $25 to/from LGA and $35 to/from JFK!? You can't beat it! I always have a pleasant experience with the dispatcher too, he usually asks if I need to be picked up from the last place I called from and they have my phone number on file in case there are any problems, which is super helpful. Initially, I was trying to get a cab to go to Katarina Bar and Grill but all the cab services didn't have anyone on the road (sigh). Like really and they advertise 24hr service. Based on reviews on Yelp, thought I would give these guys a go for a taxi ride from prospect heights to newark airport - they quoted $74 inclusive of tips and tolls so I thought it was a great deal. Apart from the price, it was an absolute nightmare using them. Called an hour before to book at 2pm pick up. No one showed up, called them 3 times just to be told driver was 30secs away. Finally 20mins later the driver turns up, I was too stupid to call another car service earlier! The driver didn't apologise for being late and asked me why I didn't just use another car service if the car didn't arrive on time, he told me he only got a call from the dispatcher 5mins earlier. What made it worst was he then said it was my fault if I get to the airport late because I didn't leave enough time - blaming customers are never a good idea when you're one one that's late. Since the driver had only been to newark once, I had to use google maps up direct him to the airport. I'd suggest calling these guys at least 15mins beforehand even if you have booked for a pick up. I needed a cab on Wednesday morning (6:00 am) and called a number of companies listed on Yelp. Despite my daughter's advice that I could get a cab without a reservation, I found this not to be so easy. All the cab companies I called were answered by voice mail and not one returned my call. I connected with Monaco and actually spoke with a dispatcher. He told me a cab would be there in 10 minutes. The cab arrived shortly thereafter. It was a newer (new?) Toyota Prius that was absolutely spotless. The driver was a middle aged man, courteous, friendly and very business-like. He asked destination and terminal and proceeded to drive safely and without confusion. We got to the airport in plenty of time and exactly where I needed to be. I called at 1am this morning for a ride from Crown Heights to Newark at 4:30am. The dispatcher was pleasant and scheduled a ride for me right away. The driver called me right before my scheduled pickup time to notify me he would be a little late because he didn't have my address. (He only ended up being about 5 minutes late.) The driver was friendly and very well dressed. The car was clean and smelled nice. I was quoted $60 + $15 tolls. Tolls were actually $16.50. I've used them a few times because they are close to my house, but it is not worth it. Twice I've made a reservation and they did not show up. When I called to inquire about their whereabouts they claimed they could not find a reservation. This has made me late for the airport and work respectively. They're great if it's on a late night but don't hold your breath during daylight hours. I live in Bed Stuy, work in Williamsburg and these guys are always late with me. The dispatcher quotes 6-7 minutes but it's more like 15 mins later your car comes if that. Majorly disappointed esp. since others have received quality customer service. read more
