Internal Medicine Associates of St. John's County…read more The office staff is the worst that I have ever seen regarding providing misleading information, discussing payment and policies after test and appointments have been done, billing wrong insurance companies, not getting prior insurance authorization and ineffective and inaccurate communication to their patients. And BTW - billing will never return your calls. Impact on me: 1) tried to get me to pay a bill that was fully paid by the insurance company 2) Having not gotten pre-authorization on a test (they were denied payment because it was after-the-fact); I was told my portion of the payment was "x:" and unknown to me, the office had written off the entire bill. 3) Had me sign their payment & policies a month after a test, and tried to convince me I had sign consent prior to the test (I have a copy of the signed paper that clearly shows after the procedure). Good luck, you had better have a lot of money and time to cover their foul-ups. I am switching Doctors.

Before I went called and made sure they accepted my Medicare part A&B insurance. I was examined by Dr. Carames and then went for my blood tests. I made a appointment for 7-6-11 with Dr. Carames to review the results of my blood test. On 6-10-11 I received a letter from Internal Medicine Assoc. of St. Augustine saying "We regret that we find it necessary to inform you that we are withdrawing from providing you with future professional medical services." The letter did not say why so I called and left a message to call me and explain why I was rejected as a patient. I never got a reply. Just wanted to let people know this could happen to you. In stead, he referred me to a dermatologist. However, I never got the referral. I had to make my own appointment with another dermatologist. Found out I had Scabies, an extremely contagious condition that required immediate attention. I also had a stress test scheduled and was never notified by either e-mail or text message of the date and time and confirm the appointment. 20th century office. I had to fill out 5 pages of background with paper and pen on a clipboard. Who does that anymore? He has all the equipment for testing that is convenient but getting the results is nearly impossible. When you ask for records to be sent to the hospital { Flagler Hospital has banned him from practicing }, or other specialists it takes for ever or Not at all. Getting through to any one is difficult at best. Even though we have been patients there for years they told us we were considered new patients and they could not make an appointment. When asked for records they said it would cost us for each page. A neighbor who was elderly used him for 10 plus years, went in to see the Dr. Kelsey for swollen legs & only got to see his PA Alex. They sent him home with water pills 2 weeks later he was DEAD. You would be better off with a Veterinarian than this Dr's office.
