MY REVIEW
FIRST IMPRESSIONS is a Aveda Concept Salon and they provide all 4 services except that they are not designated as an Earth Month Leader Salon.
What I am looking for in a salon - 1) friendly, 2) relaxation, 3) warm and welcoming, 4) consistency in the services it provides each time I visit, and 5) professionalism. So based on the Aveda's warm, memorable experiences at this Aveda Concept Salon -
-1. I was not asked if I wanted a cup of tea or water. Nothing was offered. I'm not sure if I this salon had anything like that for its customers. My stylist introduced herself and led me to the chair.
-2. I did not need a thorough consultation - I just went in for a haircut. I had forgotten the picture of the hairstyle I had wanted and was looking for it on my smartphone. The stylist was patient with me and did want me to take my time in finding it, but I ended up just stating what I wanted and showed a random picture of a haircut I liked.
-3. I was not treated to a complimentary Aveda Sensory Ritual that was stress -relieving. My hair was shampooed and conditioned in record time. (I have been going to Aveda salons since 2001, so like 13 years. My last Aveda Salon I was at - I was there for 5 years because they were always consistent and I really appreciated the de-stressing Aveda sensory ritual that was done when my hair was being washed. I would receive a scalp massage and massages on both my arms and hands and that was soooo great and stress relieving. The haircut at this salon is $45 flat for any stylist and my previous salon was in the Chicago Area, $39 for a senior stylist and they always found the time to give me a scalp massage, a custom conditioner with a heated aroma infused towel, an eye mask, and hand/arm massage while my hair was being washed and conditioned before the cut.)
-4. This was not applicable to the haircut.
-5. Since I have been going to Aveda salons forever I already had in mind the products I wanted, but my stylist did help in picking which specific brilliant product that was best for my hair type.
Rated against what I was looking for - 1) friendly - they were nice enough; 2) relaxation - not very relaxing at all; 3) warm and welcoming - I did not feel this; 4) consistency in the services it provides - this was my first time there, but if I get the same service each time I'm not sure if I am willing to pay $45 for a shampoo and cut; 5) professionalism - they were okay.
Overall, I could have gone to a Supercut and probably have gotten the same type of customer service experience for $16.95, but I wanted the Aveda experience and products.
I will be trying another Aveda salon in the area hopefully I can find one that is very relaxing completes the full "five steps that make every visit to Aveda a warm, memorable experience". I totally miss my Aveda Salon in the Chicago area, but I guess you don't know what you have until it's gone.
Please note, that this was my first time here and maybe they were having an off day and if you don't have the same expectations as I do this salon might be the one for you. read more
