Great service for a tenant of mine that came home to a broken deadbolt on her back door. It was after 5:00 so had to pay overtime and that was o.k. with me. Can't have a tenant not feeling safe in her unit. Gary came out that same evening and replaced the broken lock in addition to making the door easier to close and stay shut. Gary came out today to change locks and hinges from our new door back to the old door. He also added weather stripping to the bottom of the door. When I initially called him the other day, he said that he'd come over between 2-4pm. Guess what? He came exactly at 2pm. Gary's work and attention to detail is outstanding. I bought 4 deadbolts (2 are keypad entry) and needed 3 deadbolts re-keyed to have 1 master key. I contacted a few places I found on yelp and they didn't bother to reply... but that wasn't the case with Gary. I sent him the same email I sent the others (with links to deadbolts I bought) and he replied right away with a firm quote and time estimate of when they will be done. I brought them to his shop and just as he had explained, was re-keyed, repackaged, additional master keys made and I was off to work without surprises. Excellent service, I lost my keys and was worried that someone might use them to steal my mail. I was safe at home with my husband and we had picked up the mail for the day. I emailed the owner Dave and before 9:00 the next morning, Will, a certified locksmith showed up. He replaced 5 deadbolt locks and supplied a new lock for my individual mail box that was in a neighborhood lockbox. It gave me a lot of peace of mind to have the issue taken care of so efficiently. I am so happy that I contacted 1st Lock and Security today. They came out the same day and re-key the locks for us. W have an old Baldwin lock for our front door and we like it very much. But we lost a key recently so we decided to rekey the lock. Zach came out and got this done in 20 min. He was on time, quick and efficient! He also greased this lock and another lock for us. Will of 1st Lock re-keyed three exterior doors (5 locks) for us in less than one hour. He was helpful, informative, clearly experienced and knowledgable. He reduced the number of keys we need from 5 to 2 (which is very cool). He also left our (new) front door handle in better functioning shape than it was before. This guy knows his job! I was in a dire situation: while filling up my Honda motorcycle the cap fell from the top of the pump, the key got warped and twisted under the weight of the metal cap and it didn't start the ignition any more. It was the only key. I left the motorbike at the gas station overnight, then went to 1st Lock. The guy there tinkered on the old key and brought it into shape enough to be able to make a copy, which, hurray, did work perfectly (the older key still does not). If this attempt had failed, I may have had to get all 3 locks of the Honda replaced at the dealership with all the cost, fuss, and time bike-less (it is the week of July 4th). Thanks 1st lock, great service, fair price (9 bucks for one Honda/specialty key ... I made a second copy to avoid other misadventures). I could not be happier! read more

What a quick, professional, nice fellow is Gary. I never know if I should let out the secret but ... well, he was closed, and he opened up his store to service our lock needs on the Friday before the fourth of July. [Then we were late ~ Sorry Gary.] I could not believe how fast he keyed all of our new locks to the same key. The store was quite nicely lit, with some cool stools for customers to sit on, which was nice. He had a good assortment of key related items and I bought some. My front door latch was stuck, so I sent a request for a quote to 1st Lock and got a response almost immediately. They identified the problem and what they would need with an exchange of phone-taken photos, then scheduled an appointment for the following day. Turns out they made an error on their part with the scheduling and thought it was for one day later, but when I called them (at the end of the timeframe when they said they'd be at my house), they came out after hours to do the work (which was necessary for me since I'd taken part of the day off to be at home waiting!). Zach fixed it without needing to replace the part, and now everything works like new. Great work guys! read more

I have a over 20 yr old Caradco wood/alumuninum glass slider door. Caradco was well known in the mid and eastern US. The door supposedly had a lifetime warranty but the dealer that installed it said they no longer carried it and would not honor the warranty. The lockset was broken and was a European design. Could not even find a replacement on the internet. IN COMES GARY -- OUTSTANDING -- he gave me a temporary solution, then found and ordered the replacement, came in and installed in 20 mins. Gary is pleasant to deal with, has very deep knowledge of all types of locks, and makes you feel that he will go the extra distance to take care of you. Had a broken front door lock. They arrived on time and fixed the lock efficiently. The bolt wasn't striking our door frame well, so he adjusted that as well. $130 for the service call plus parts. Very happy and will use them again when we need something. read more

I removed a hard to operate Weiser deadbolt lock and took it their place of business for service. It would have been difficult to find a replacement lock that would fit on this door, so I wanted this one repaired. A gentleman, not shown in the pictures, worked on the lock for a good part of an hour doing a difficult repair, and got the lock operating smoothly. The service charge was very reasonable. read more

We have used Gary's services 3 times in the past year or so. The community is quite fortunate to have someone as honest, reliable, responsive, and most of all, competent. He has installed new locks and deadbolts, replaced and/or repaired old ones and re-key'd the entry locks in our house, and in one instance talked me out of an expensive replacement with a perfect work-around. Great service is provided by the honest people. My French door lock was broken. I have called several lock repair companies but none can fix. This company is able to find the right lock and replace it. My French door's lock was ordered from oversea company through 1st Lock and Security. Because of some reason, the lock wasn't able to arrive for 3 month, they were very honest to let me know about the issue, and consistent to follow up the order. Gary came out the same day and had our house re-keyed in no time. I asked him to put a bolt in our sliding door, and when he noticed that it wasn't hanging properly, he re-set the panels and got it working like new.
