I have used First on Firefighters to do multiple moves in the past and I have referred them for family. The service prior was fantastic. The crews were amazing and they ran almost the entire time. I have used them for apartment and house moves. They are now under new ownership and it shows. They showed up and got started but don't have the right tools to break down the single bed. I had to provide tools, but they they still stripped out the screws on the bed frame and I had to finish, so it didn't get any worse. The same thing happened for the table, they didn't have the right tools and stripped the screws. I had asked them to wrap the furniture and tvs as this was all going into a storage. They had wrap but ran out after wrapping 2 pieces as they only brought a single roll that was almost out. Everything was boxed and ready aside from the furniture, This was a 1 bedroom apt that was 700+ sq feet. They took 6 hours and $900 to move a 1 bedroom apartment. I had a 2 story 2800 sq foot house moved by the previous crews in 5 hrs and paid significantly less. They did a really poor job of unloading into the storage. I have boxes that are being crushed and have already had to rent another unit to unpack and repack correctly. The last part of these transaction was a problem also. As i was paying with a credit card i was told that there is a 3% additional fee. I was advised I should have been told when i booked that cc had an additional fee. Seeing as my checks were packed I got stuck with the fee. After a much longer than normal move, much higher cost, and unprepared movers I would definitely not recommend anyone using them again. read more

These men treat your belongings as if they were their own. Very great care was taken to wrap every item. Courteous. On time. Efficient. Easy communication. They were also a great help on the delivery end placing everything where it was supposed to be. My only concern was they weren't able to fit everything on the truck and left a lot behind. we used this moving service last weekend, and they were just the best! they arrived on time and even called ahead to say they were on their way. from the minute they arrived, they were pleasant and respectful and dare I say, tall, strapping, (real) firefighter hunks who were all business from the start. they were efficient, and careful with our belongings. once they were done, they left at once and even got to our new apartment way ahead of us! sorry to say we made them wait quite a bit because we had tons to wrap up before we left our old place, but they were patient (or at least sounded it over the phone!) and just unloaded all our stuff quickly and with care, as soon as we arrived. you HAVE to hire these guys if you need movers. you won't be sorry. oh, their rates are pretty reasonable too. they will make your move less stressful and we could all use less stress in our lives! read more

Update: Adam, the owner, recently contacted me regarding the move. He was extremely apologetic and seemed genuinely bothered by the move. He made every effort to rectify things as best he could and did a great job. I wanted to reiterate a few points as with my initial post: The people who moved us worked extremely hard in 100 degree+ heat, I've only had five star experiences before and so have my friends, at least 6 moves I can count off the top of my head, and I will continue to use FoF in the future should I ever need to move again. Initial Review: Let me preface this review with that I've used FoF several times in the past and have had nothing but great experiences. This experience was definitely not up to the standard of times past. It started with a phone call asking if anyone had been exposed to someone with COVID because the firefighters needed to be protected given their profession. Very understandable except that when I asked the three gentlemen who showed up what station they worked at, they responded that they were not firefighters but they knew the folks who normally do it but unfortunately they can not have side jobs given the COVID situation. Totally understandable but deduct one star for not being totally truthful about who would be moving us. Part of using this service is the knowledge that these are but the highest standard given their background checks. Next, I lived in a very standard two bedroom apartment. When I used FoF in past, the move was no more than 2-3 hours to move stuff in/out. The move this time around was closer to 5 hours and that's after I had packed a lot of item, (6) 45 gallon containers worth, ahead of time. Otherwise it would have been 6-8 hours of packing not to include drive time; I decided to not have them unpack the items to their appropriate places but just unload otherwise this would have been a 15-18 hour move the way things were going; total drive time to and from was about 6-7 hours. The lack of experience showed as one gentlemen asked the other if he was suppose to wrap plastics in packaging paper. The other gentleman said no, just breakables/glass. The 3rd gentleman said they were only going to bring about 10 boxes for packing but a good thing they Brough about 25-30. 10 boxes for a two bedroom apartment when you've told them that everything will need to be packed in the apartment was alarming. This shows a lack of experience in packing that I will explain below. Deduct a star for the amount of time it took given the initial estimate of 2-3 hours of packing time despite the fact I did a lot of packing ahead of time; please not no appliances were moved. Next, the packaging. While everything was wrapped appropriately, it was not packaged appropriately. We had several broken glass item from our wedding champagne glasses to gifts we had accumulated through the years from places like Rome & Argentina; not because they weren't wrapped but rather because it was packed first and then heavier wrapped items were put on top causing the pressure to break the glassware. Also, boxes were not marked as kitchen/living room/bedroom...etc and so it made unpacking difficult. Also, several rooms items were packed into the same box and this happened for several boxes. Its very frustrating to open a box and to see bathroom items, kitchen items, bedroom items, and living room items all in the same box. Minus a star for the packaging and for the broken items that can not be replaced; especially the wedding glassware. I thought very long and hard on deducting 2 stars but I'll explain below why I decided on deducting just one. Final thoughts: My past experienced with FoF have been absolutely great and the three gentlemen who worked were very courteous and worked their butts off in 100 degree heat; they were also very timely with arrival into College Station, Texas from San Antonio and two drop-off points in New Braunfels and San Antonio. I understand that everyone needs experience and mistakes will likely be made when learning how to move items; this is really why I decided to give two stars instead of one. With that said, one of two recommendations for those considering FoF during the current COVID situation: 1) ask if these are firefighters that will be moving your stuff or 2) give specific instructions about breakables and labeling of packages. read more

I have used them in 2014 or 2015 and they were great. Used them again in 2019 and again great. Used them yesterday and was very disappointed. Dresser is damaged. The bottom has a major wood chip that was caused by it falling off the dolly that was witnessed by my boyfriend. My furniture is solid wood expensive and has been purchased over the years mainly at SA Furniture Finders who's specialty is mid century furniture. 2 Bookcases were also scratched up. Crew was 2 men who were fairly new to the company. The lead seemed very rushed and had to be reminded to use pads and shrink wrap. The young college man who did most of the heavier work was a hard worker and very courteous but needs more training as he carried most of the items upside down which caused drawers to jam which I spent better part of the afternoon fixing. The lead was more concerned about helping me down some stairs and carrying a tote bag that I had versus focusing on the task at hand. I appreciate the gentleman touch but felt it was over the top. The first several items loaded were not protected and I had to go out to the truck to remind about pads and wrapping. Paul at the office who is always courteous over the phone is aware of the damages and I am awaiting to hear back next steps. The lead mover did admit the dresser got damaged so do appreciate the honesty. Hopefully this situation will be fixed but moving forward this is the last time I will use them. read more
