However, when they arrived, I noticed his son was performing the installation, and the owner had left an hour later. I immediately contacted the owner with my concerns and was told he had another job to attend to and that his son would finish the work. This was not what we agreed upon, and I had clearly stated beforehand that I did not want his son working on my unit. Unfortunately, after going without AC and being desperate, I felt I had no choice but to allow the work to continue. I now regret not stopping the installation. As shown in the photos, the finish trim leading to my attic was left extremely sloppy and unprofessional, with original trim lines clearly visible. I contacted the owner three separate times after installation regarding this issue. Each time, I was told to "get with his son." My response was no, if the work wasn't done correctly the first time, I did not want him returning to fix it. In the photos, you can see where the attic cover and trim fell at 2 a.m., causing us to jump out of our sleep. This happened directly in front of my child's room, which is extremely concerning. As shown, nails were left sticking up, and this easily could have caused serious injury. This was the result of sloppy, unprofessional workmanship following the AC installation. The safety risk alone makes this unacceptable. Since the installation, my attic light no longer works. After repeated attempts to reach the owner, my calls were no longer answered, and instead a random "repairman" contacted me offering to fix the drywall and install a new attic cover. This entire experience shows a lack of professionalism, accountability, and quality workmanship. I would not recommend this company.

In 2022 I hired Sunstate Mechanical to install a new XL18 4-ton heat pump. It failed the City Of Saint Petersburg code inspection because Sunstate Mechanical used an unsafe gauge electrical wire. Joe Rosenberger refused to correct the error, and I had to hire an electrician to bring his work up to the safe, standard practice code. Several months later I noticed that the ceiling below the attic A/C unit was wet. It turned out that the 15-gallon drip pan was over-flowing. It took a half a dozen or so phone calls and emails over several weeks to get Sunstate Mechanical out to make the past urgent repairs. Only after I threatened to take Joe Rosenberger to court did he reply. Meanwhile, I had to purchase Shop-Vac vacuum to daily remove the accumulating water. Joe Rosenberger blamed it on a recalled Trane part. I called Trane and was told that there was no recall on any parts related to my unit. I hired a new A/C company to maintain my unit, and they told me as well that there were no recall notices on the unit. I didn't know the extent of the damage caused by Sunstate Mechanical's neglect and delayed response until my ceiling collapsed. I asked Joe Rosenberger to cover the cost of the repair, and I wasn't at all surprised that he never returned any of my numerous calls. Recently my Trane thermostat malfunctioned and had to be replaced. It is suspected that a used thermostat was installed instead of the new that I paid for. As part of my purchase agreement with Sunstate Mechanical for the XL18, Joe Rosenberger was to purchase a 10-year labor warranty with JB Warranty Company. When I contacted JB Warranty, they told me that there was no warranty agreement taken out by Joe Rosenberger on any of my Trane equipment. My purchase order with Sunstate Mechanical Contractors, Inc. & Rosenberger clearly states that "Joe will process registration for extended warranty and manufacturers warranty." I have tried multiple times to contact Mr. Rosenberger but now, after more than two weeks of being ignored by him, I feel that I have no other recourse that distributing this review. If Joe Rosenberger was ever an honest man, I wouldn't know it from my relationship with him & Sunstate Mechanical.
