If I could give Dr. Ko alone 5 stars, I would. But the experience comes with the overall office staff. I hope some people training can come of this to the office staff, especially the office lead, Stephanie. People notice when you're being condescending, insincere and oafish. I may be wrong, it may have been Maria, the office manager. But that team of two and how they lead from the top down, leaves a lot on the table to be desired. I felt like I was in HS trying to communicate with the lowest of integrity. Treat people with respect and be sincere, and humble. It will go a long way. Dr. Ko can do a lot better on her own - those two or three staff weigh her down. Lastly, there was one other young lady who had great character, smoked slot, being pleasant - they can learn from her. I recommend Dr. Ko follow the Hippocratic Oath and leave First Street Dental - You're reputation is much more valuable. Dr. Ko, you had such Class, poise, intelligence - just nice to be around. This office is a fraud and I would not recommend them to anyone! My son had braces placed over a year ago, and since then his treatment has been repeatedly delayed because the office kept cancelling appointments due to not having an orthodontist available. These cancellations were made by the office, not by me. Despite this, when my son's one-year appointment came up, Stephanie, the office manager, told me he needed a reevaluation because of missed appointments. I explained that we never cancelled his appointments, yet instead of taking responsibility for their scheduling issues, she argued with me. I also questioned why my son's dentist had been changed to a different doctor without my request or approval. Stephanie could not provide an explanation. Two weeks ago, my son's appointment to have his bands changed was cancelled once again because there was no orthodontist available. At this point, I was extremely frustrated and informed Stephanie that this ongoing situation was unacceptable. Not only was there no apology, but she claimed she left me a voicemail and even repeated what my voicemail supposedly said. That was completely false, my voicemail is not even set up. When I called her out, she avoided the issue and simply told me the next appointment would be a month away. A month wait was not acceptable when the delays were caused by their office. There was no attempt to accommodate my son, no effort to correct their mistake, and no concern shown for the impact this has had on his orthodontic treatment. When I requested my son's treatment plan, I was told it was never signed and that only the payment agreement was completed. That raised even more red flags. I then asked about insurance claims and was told they were not submitted because my insurance denied coverage as "not medically necessary." That statement was incorrect. My insurance is in-network, my son has orthodontic coverage, and there is no medical necessity requirement for his orthodontic benefits. After the repeated cancellations, poor communication, misinformation, and complete lack of accountability, I instructed them to stop charging my card and informed them that my son would no longer continue treatment at this office. Parents trust orthodontic offices with their children's care. They deserve honesty, consistency, and professionalism. Unfortunately, this office failed to provide that. read more

From the front office staff, to Alex, to Dr. Koh I couldn't have been more satisfied. My husband originally find this place due to nitrous being offered during procedures (very few dental offices do because of special licensing requirements), and we couldn't have been happier with our treatment. They also accept most insurances, including our Delta Dental HMO plan which can be challenging to find providers that take. We will both have cleanings there later this year and we are both excited. read more

Stay away from this place. I called my dental insurance immediately to file a complaint. I had called earlier since my son's insurance would be expiring as he was aging out and I said he needed a cleaning. They got us in same Day for a "cleaning" and said if he needed anything else they could do it the next day before insurance expired. After two hours my son had no cleaning- only a "exam" and set of X-rays. They said they couldn't do the cleaning next day and instead presented me with a 5000 dollar estimate bill for work he did not need that would require four more visits well beyond what was needed and would be done after insurance had lapsed! Some of the billing codes on today's work are for X-rays for implants- which he doesn't need nor was this discussed. It was a huge waste of time and I'm so thankful that I caught on to the scam before my son signed off on the work they asked him to sign off on. Thankfully he called me first! This place needs to be investigated as I think they are billing customers and insurance for things that are not needed at all. read more

I had not been to the dentist for several years because honestly, I am terrified of the dentist, after several years of putting off much needed dental work, I decided to face my fears and make an appointment at first street dental group. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming and professional. Dr. Jade Gilbert is truly outstanding--she's not only highly skilled and knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind gentle and attentive. She always takes the time to explain everything and makes sure I feel comfortable and cared for during every visit. Maria, the office manager, is fantastic at what she does. She keeps everything running smoothly and is always happy to help with scheduling or insurance questions. I really appreciate her efficiency and friendly attitude. Stephanie and Sandra are both wonderful--so warm, professional, and great at putting patients at ease. My last visit I had the pleasure of meeting Sandy. (Sandra)calm demeanor and friendly attitude made a big difference. She was professional, attentive, and went out of her way to ensure I was comfortable the entire time. The entire team at First Street Dental Group is exceptional. This is the absolute worst dental office I have ever been to. From the staff to the service, every single experience I had was terrible. From the beginning, this office tried to charge me thousands of dollars for work that is covered by my insurance with minimal copays. When I asked them what my insurance would cover, they sidestepped the question and instead tried to get me to make a donation to something and enroll me in a payment plan. They quoted me $10k+ for work that my insurance covered, with my responsibility being around $600. When I called my insurance to ask about the work, they told me to file a grievance and that they would reach out to the office for me. The next month was me reaching back out to this office and my insurance several times with this office claiming that they need to submit a prior authorization. My insurance told me the office was not submitting anything. When I tried to follow up, staff by the name of Stephanie and Maria had terrible customer service, constantly promising call backs and follow ups with no follow through. The staff takes no accountability and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I know. If I could leave negative stars I would. read more

If I could I would give this sh***y place 0 stars!! Context: I had a dental infection and needed to get help ASAP. They were the closest dental office that was available on a sat. So I was grateful for that. If I wasn't so desperate I would have considered other options. First off the staff is unprofessional and needs to learn better customer service. I could literally hear all their gossip and irrelevant life stories. Second, I had filled out the required basic information and listed I had an allergy to a medication and still they prescribed me that medication. Like who tf does that! Gilbert kept giving me the runaround and I don't appreciate having my time wasted. Especially when I paid a lot of money for the service. This dentist office is old and ratty and needs new dental chairs. Oh and the worst part they offered me a "payment plan" and come to find out they opened up a credit card in my name!! I wouldn't recommend the orthodontist here, as they seemed more focused on money than patient care. Many of the orthodontists work on a contract basis with the office, which may affect their approach. I came in for a simple consultation to find out whether I needed to have my teeth removed, but instead of a proper evaluation or explanation, I was immediately told to have all four pulled--without any discussion or guidance. It felt impersonal and rushed, and I didn't feel cared for. Overall, I was disappointed with both the front desk service and Dr. Sheinbaum's approach. Fortunately, I went to another dentist for a second opinion. They took the time to explain the pros and cons and helped me make an informed decision. There are 3 reasons that I don't suggest this group. First, the young female dentist started trying to sell me veneers, when I don't need them. She didn't suggest Invisalign first, just straight to sawing down my teeth & putting on fake ones... for a tiny gap! For over a month I was convinced I needed new teeth (I'm posting a picture of my smile, with my natural teeth). So obviously money is more important than the health of our teeth to that doctor. Also, there's a man there that is condescending and impatient & I told them I don't want him in my room ever. I can't get over how that young doctor wanted me to ruin my teeth so that she could make money! I changed dentists. We are new to the area, and this was the first place I went. I suggest taking a harder look at who you trust with your teeth. I absolutely do NOT need veneers & I'm so glad I didn't go for that. Veneers fall off & you're left with a tiny sharp demon-looking tooth until you can have it fixed... no thank you! I also got overcharged, and had to pay off my card before they would refund the money. Very strange, with the money and the card system (only theirs)... I just don't trust these people. read more

I recently had a dental procedure here and had a few issues with the place I want to pass on to others. 1. The desk girls are rather rude and unprofessional. There is one in particular who is seated to the right of the admission area. She is assigned to the collection of the fees. She not only treated me rudely she disrespected the patient before me. The attitude and overall demeanor belong at a bar and not in a professional office. 2. The fees for some other work they did was arguably overpriced. I felt as if they were pitching a sale and trying to "encourage" more work than was actually necessary. They upsell a gum test and cleaning and the costs are outrageous. I would ask for an itemized invoice BEFORE the work is done as they will change it if you ask for a receipt after. Note that they charged a $256 "consultation" fee which lasted 5 minutes and I was never informed of the cost. Also, although the surgery they did on me took approximately 35 minutes the receipt stated that they needed 45 minutes of anesthesia. Nothing was explained after the fact, of course. I will not return here and plan on reporting my experience to consumer affairs with the State. read more

I do not recommend this dental orthodontic group. Most of those dentist orthodontics are contracted and not employees. My son has had to come back for frivolous things like a crown coming off multiple times. This shouldn't be an issue . I have never had this happen in my experience. My son's appt was at 2:30 today because he needed his bracket replaced. Apparently the appt was at 2 and I thought it was weird as his orthodontist was exiting as we were entering. Sara Zadmhr. I called Friday (yesterday) to confirm this appointment and time and was verified by office staff. This is not the first time there is a scheduling problem with this office either. AVOID THIS DENTAL GROUP AT ALL COSTS. I could really sit here and type a three page review of everything that went wrong but I'll try to keep it brief. The office staff is incompetent. Harassed us multiple times to change our appointment times. Scheduled my appointment incorrectly which led me to sit in their office for a consultation for TWO HOURS without having my teeth cleaned until I reminded them that's what I was there for. REVIEW YOUR ESTIMATES BEFORE AGREEING TO TREATMENT / CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE TO CONFIRM CHARGES!!! At my second visit the office lady tried to bait and switch my bill from the week prior. I signed an estimate the week prior and when I came in for the treatment she tried to get me to sign a different estimate that was $175 more than the original estimate. I asked for a copy of my diagnostics and a week later they still couldn't figure out how to do it. I ended up paying out of pocket to have them done again at a specialist because they were unable to give me my diagnostics. They OVERCHARGED us almost $200 and we didn't find out until almost three months later from our insurance company. I had to call and complain to get my money back, since they were clearly never going to inform us of the overcharge. I had dental work at this clinic, and unfortunately, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative. From start to finish, I've had issues that have left me dissatisfied and frustrated. No one should have to visit a dentist over 17 plus times within 6 months. I have missed many work hours, days taken off and money spent driving outside of my area to get color matched. The dentist cemented on a veneer without asking me if I even liked the color or shape which resulted in having to drill the tooth off wearing down my real tooth enamel, she was then not able to match my tooth shade afterwards so they sent me to Anaheim from Simi Valley, about an hour drive, I had to take off work and spend money for someone to drive me all the way over there. I have Dealt with other staff not listening to my concerns and feeling unheard, anytime I'd call I would be told no and that I have to wait for an appointment even though it was an emergency. I had staff telling me that they were missing their tv shows because they needed to stay later to help adjust my bite. Telling my mom in front of me that they would not speak to her or answer any of her questions without my consent even though I was there and then staff walking out of the room on me and having another person help me. I dealt with all the trouble I had to go through with having a temporary on my veneer for many months, I had paid for work back in November 2023 and it was not finished for months, I wore a temporary for over 4 months from November 27th 2023 till March 29th 2024. After all of this my final veneer is not smooth and does not have a glossy feel to the back of it, my only option from the dentist on May 14th was to have it remade which I will not do again. I had multiple numbing shots which till this day my upper front gums are still sore in the injection site, discomfort when chewing on my onlay I received here. I'm unhappy with the way everything went, and the process took extremely longer than expected. I was told I had a crack in my veneer and if I didn't fix it then it would lead to other issues, this is why I got it replaced in the first place, yet my mom was told by Dr. Gilbert that I had a cavity on my tooth and that's why we replaced it. I don't appreciate a dentist that will lie about doing something on a tooth that never happened. We never removed any cavities or decay, we only replaced a cracked veneer. This dentist does not care about any concerns and does not feel the need to make things right, they believe that if there is nothing clinically wrong with the work they did then they do not owe you anything or their time. After all the issues I had, I asked Maria the manager and Dr.Gilbert for a refund due to the tooth still not being complete and still having a pain in my tooth and gums when smiling where my veneer is and after waiting a month for a response I was told no by the manager and that they don't think they have done anything wrong here. I went here for years, but things just seemed to descend into chaos after Dr. Magdos sold the practice. The staff are nice, but management is disorganized. A few years ago I gave them an EOB to review from my insurance that said I owed less than they charged me, and no one ever got back to me about it. My husband took time off work to go there to see their traveling periodontist but was never ever seen. He just sat there in the lobby and eventually left. They said they called him to tell him they may be overbooked, but he showed them his phone with no missed calls from them. Then, there is the pain. I have never been in so much pain in my life as at this practice. I have never needed a crown before coming here and since I have, I apparently need one about annually. Asked my Son if he was pregnant, nursing and taking oral contraceptives at 11 years old. This was my Child's dentist. Dr. Klein is a fine Dentist. But the gauntlet you must endure to receive his care isn't worth it. Run, don't walk to your computer and do your proper research! Front office staff are collecting a paycheck, they do not pay attention to detail unless it benefits them or their corporate masters. Don't think that for one moment that any corporation has your best interests at heart, they don't. They exist to make money and will roll over your legal rights to do it especially since most people are woefully unaware of their Legal Rights. When you walk in, they want you to sign screens where the signature box covers the screen in such a way you can't read or review what you are signing or what riders and addendums are being added without your knowledge. They call this their 'Standard of care". -When you ask for the paperwork printed they act like it is an imposition, rolling their eyes in contempt. Once you see the paperwork you will see what they are concealing: -Billing for procedures you neither want nor need, (despite specifically requesting special notes in your file that you want no fluoride) -Signing that you received a HIPPA Privacy rights document when they never provided one -Engaging Minors in legally binding contracts which is illegal as well as -Demanding you give up your legal right NOT to be recorded. They don't care about you, they care about their paycheck. Despite specific notes in your file that you want no fluoride treatment they will add it to you bill up front, conceal it so you can't see it and bill your insurance before anyone sits in a chair. What kind of attention to detail is that? I instructed my 11 year old Son in the office waiting room within earshot of the front office staff how you have to be very careful reading everything before you sign it as the contracts are never written in (your) the patient's favor. ALWAYS READ EVERYTHING! Don't Sign until it is to your liking. I showed him how they intended to harm us half a dozen ways before he ever got to sit in their dental chair. The Office Manager to her credit did call me to smooth things over but I cut through the usual corporate BS with her. She does have a moral compass but is being employed by corporate masters who don't. I asked her if anyone has learned anything from the Mortgage crisis. Meaning are we still making people sign forms without them knowing what they are signing? If this is as they call it their "standard of care" then my Son would be treated better having taken a flight to India and visiting a Dentist in Calcutta. At least there I know I would dealing with paper contracts, & me and my insurance would not be ripped off. Dr. Klein if you are reading this, I suggest you ask yourself if you would sign legally binding documents that release those who care for your children of all liability without reading them? You are a good Dentist, but no longer worth the bother. Your front office has made clear my Son is a number to them, that we are not worth of having our file read before we return to you as a patient. That previous conversations about certain procedures will NOT BE HONORED and our INSURANCE WILL BE BILLED FOR PROCEDURES THAT WE NOT ONLY DO NOT WANT BUT WERE NOT DONE. Isn't that insurance fraud? I have been coming here for a few years. Overall it's OK although I have been complaining to my husband after each visit how I am never going back because I wait a MINIMUM 30 minutes each visit after the appointment time. But because it's a couple times a year thing just haven't made a priority to search out a new dentist. After reviewing my bill from the insurance they tried to charge me $88 for "hygiene instruction". $88 to recommend a product to help rid of bacteria? Only in America. The "negotiated" cost ended up being $37. This is known as an oral hygiene charge which is often offered free as a professional courtesy (per Google) and not covered by insurance. If this is your only option of a dentist enter at your own risk and tell them no advice needed (basically don't talk to me, just clean my teeth) unless you want an extra charge. Also, for all the years I've gone there I can count on one hand with extra fingers to spare the amount of times I have had the same hygienist twice, which also says something about the practice. read more

OH. MY. GOSH! I LOVE THIS DENTIST OFFICE! I'm a firm believer in reciprocity and this office has exceeded mine (as well as my husbands) expectations. The atmosphere here was AMAZING! The amount of positive vibes I felt from ALL staff members here was immense. For context, my husband absolutely HATES going to the dentist and I can honestly say that that's a thing of the past now. Although I had to fight him tooth and nail just to get into the office in the first place, by the end of the appointment he was eager to come back to his follow up - alone!! Yay! There is a reason they only have 3.5 stars. Their honesty and service are horrible. I am still affected by the dishonesty thrust upon me from the Dentist and Periodontist that prescribed I remove teeth from my mouth. I was quoted what I understood to be the whole price of the Service. It turns out that it was only a portion of the cost. It was going to be twice plus what I was quoted. All I can say is I was almost in tears about an empty mouth of teeth and a price that I obviously couldn't afford. I have never felt so taken in my life. There is so much more to this story, I just don't want to waste any more of my time talking about a business that is dishonest. I am already anxious about seeing the dentist so my hopes were high to have a great experience. I saw the specialist in the Moorpark office and scheduled in Simi as the specialist was there on a day that worked for my schedule. When I came in no one was at the front desk to greet you before 8:30am. When 8:30am hit, the front desk receptionists came to the front desk and the gal with glasses yelled out to the front office "did everyone check in?" That was my first red flag with this place. That was very unprofessional. I run a medical practice and I don't think the providers realize that your front desk is a reflection of the entire practice and could set the tone for the entire patient experience. When I checked in I was told right off the bat it will be $59 dollars. I let her know that I am a cash paying patient and my appointment was not scheduled correctly, Mind you I had had to reschedule my appointment twice so they should have had the appointment correct as it required two different providers to see me. At this point my anxiety was through the roof as I waited for them to clear things up with the Moorpark location. Back story: I was quoted the cost for both procedures but the Simi office had no idea what I was quoted so the two offices clearly didn't communicate with each other nor did the front desk gather all the information to be prepared for my appointment. I ended up walking out. A lack of organization is a sign of the rest of my experience. Never coming back!!!! read more

Great dentist - horrible office team! Dr Magdos is great - if you can make it past the inept office crew. Over the past three years I have had to overcome the poor service by the office group to benefit from Dr Magdos many times. But how many new office managers does it take to find someone that can organize the team? How many times does Dr Magdos have to promise things will get better until you simply can't believe her? Here are just a few of the things that the office personnel have done: 1. Cancelled my appointment without notifying me - I showed up on time to be told rudely that my appointment was cancelled!?! 2. Incorrect billing - yes check your bills folks! MOre than once - what they billed me did not match up to the statement from my insurance company. Most people don't check but I did due to a change in price at the last minute that left me curious on how they price procedures - which by the way are all negotiated with your insurance company in advance! I found multiple mistakes over multiple treatments. 3. Today - came in with new insurance. Sat for 20 minutes for the office to verify my insurance - which they DID! Then a new office manager came out to tell me that the Doctor wouldn't see me until they had 24 hours to make sure my insurance was real!?! Really? After being a customer there for over 5 years, to deny me for a cleaning which if anything went wrong with the insurance I could of paid cash, to say they needed 24 hours...makes no sense! I even asked the office manager to go back and ask Doctor Magdos if she wanted to lose a customer ver this and after disappearing for 5 minutes, she came back to say the doctor was too busy but for me to come back tomorrow!?! All this and when they call to make sure I would be at my appointment - no mention or question around this new "we don't trust you or the insurance industry policy"! Sorry - enough is enough! Dr Magdos is a great dentist but apparently can't manage her business. Stay away people - this place is a mess! read more

Though there was an emergency and I had to wait a long time to see Dr Magdos, I loved the personal level of care and time taken to explain the procedures, why they were being done, and how much it would cost. If anything, they took too much time, as I didn't even get to my scheduled cleaning. But they treated me like a person, took care to ease any fear or discomfort, and didn't try (too hard) to upsell me on expensive procedures I don't need or want. Most dentists try to get through as many people (and money) as possible, and barely say hello. So it was a nice change to come here. If my other services go well, I'll happily recommend this office. read more

This place is such a scam. They overcharged me for my wisdom teeth by $400+ and said "your insurance has a claim that needs to be approved. " okay, fine. So, I call my insurance and they don't have anything pending from this office. When I called back, I was told a different story and how they'll be sure to send a claim. It's been 4 months and I still have yet to receive my refund. Double check and have them bill your insurance instead of paying upfront if you want to avoid being scammed by this place. Also, forgot to add that I had asked to be SEDATED for my wisdom teeth, however they completely knocked me out (which is what is shown on the bill). read more
