Ain't been the same since Marvie left. Front desk is the worse but, like others said the upselling is outrageous. They tell you need this and that while you are in the chair then claim you need it ASAP and there is a good deal going on lol And definitely not using your insurance as it should be. A deep cleaning cost me over 500.00 and added in for 88.00 some instructions and that special irrigation really crossed the line. I get one at my new dentist half the cost with no added fees and nothing about needed this or that. They tell you everything is wrong with your mouth to refer you to their in house specialist. I went to a specialist, and they used my insurance properly and my treatment was way less than what this place charges. The dentist hygienists are full of it along along with the front desk staff and act like you are doing them a favor by entering that door. Another dental office that racks up the bill with unnecessary procedures and then splits them up into multiple visits to confuse you into overpaying. They even charged my insurance $88 for oral hygiene instructions which I 100% denied from the hygienist. She then continued to push different products so they could feel justified in adding this charge. I would have been able to afford my deep cleaning had they not been trying to pad the bill wherever possible. Woman at the front was condescending when I brought up my concerns. Dr. Sateher is worst dentist ever. Her insurance girl lied to me and told me it was $6,600 for my bridge and I called my insurance company and it was $4,200. Then I told Dr s that my tooth was hurting and I don't think we should Crown it because it will go bad she said no, here I am 2 years later and I have to have the whole Bridge removed pull that tooth and spend $37,000 on implants. Professional, Friendly and Kind! This is the best dental office, hands down! The moment I walked in, Eileen was friendly and very helpful with assisting me with my insurance coverage. She repeatedly said, "we'll take good care of you here." I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Setareh the same day, within minutes of me walking through the door. The wait was short lived, with only a few minutes in the waiting room before I was taken into a room to get x-rays. Kimberly was gentle and kind. She always let me know what every different technique of x-rays were for and what was next. Within minutes, I was introduced to Dr. Satareh, who I realized was my dentist, many years prior. She immediately began by explaining her findings from my x-rays and what the most important issues were and which ones to take care of first and why. Through the steps of the procedures, she always asked if I was comfortable and she asked if I was experiencing any pain. She was concerned with my comfort, always. She was gentle and thorough, explaining the procedures and what she would be doing next. I didn't catch Dr Satereh's assistant's name, but she was as professional as any other doctor. She was concerned about my comfort and took care of any problem I had right-a-way. Before I knew it, it was over. I was surprised how smoothly everything went. What is also great about this dental office is the dentists, endodontist and periodontists are all at this one location so, you don't have to travel from one place to the next for these services. read more

I honestly can't say enough good things about this dental office, and especially about Leah, the dental hygienist. From the moment she walked in, she made me feel completely at ease. She's incredibly kind, patient, and clearly knows exactly what she's doing. Leah was gentle but thorough, explained everything she was doing in a way that actually made sense, and checked in with me the entire time to make sure I was comfortable. Cleanings can be stressful, but she somehow made the experience calm and even pleasant. The office itself is clean, well-organized, and the staff is friendly, but Leah is truly a standout. I have waited quite a while to write this review but cannot let it go any longer. I visited this Dental office and let them know that I was on Medicare and a limited budget. They do accept Medicare patients so I asked for a basic exam and a cleaning, both covered under the Medicare program. This company, like others in the area, takes your appointments and then it's all about up-selling or adding extra procedures that are very costly. In my case, they insisted on a "deep cleaning" that entailed some laser treatments that cost $500.00 above and beyond the basics. This is common practice with or without Medicare, it's what they do to increase their bottom line. I felt very much taken advantage of and won't be going back there. The way this SCAM of a dental business treated my mother is a shame!!! Be warned Simi Valley!!!! This dental office is a bait & switch, rude business out to mislead & scam people, especially the elderly. Don't believe what they advertise. I hope this places tanks for how terribly they treated my mother, who made an appointment for the cleaning advertised in the window for $59.95 & explained what insurance she had when making the appointment & also at her appointment. However, when she came to her appointment was only given x-rays by someone who seemed so inexperienced she nearly choked my mom trying to get all the x-rays. Then she was told she had to come back for another appointment for the cleaning, when her appointment was supposed to be for a cleaning. Then they recommended a ton of work to my mom that she said wasn't in her budget (including all sorts of oral surgery & expensive work) but she just wanted the cleaning advertised & they actually told her "go to the free clinic" when she called to find out the next steps. I am appalled! My mom recently moved to CA from the east coast, is retired, & is on a fixed budget. I'm so livid by how they treated her. Shameful! They do not honor their advertisements, and are trying gouge people for unnecessary dental work. read more

This office has been amazing through all my journey thus far. I was pregnant had an emergency tooth cracked and they got me in next day as a New patient. Then after my son was born I came back for wisdom tooth extractions and they did great recovery was easy thanks to this team. This is the worst dentist I've ever been to. They're impossible to get ahold of when you call - multiple time I've been put on hold and hung up on. And their billing system is terrible - you'll pay in office and they'll send you multiple follow up bills afterwards. When you ask questions about the billing they have no clue what is going on and when you ask for confirmations on what they claim to tell you in office about your bill, they never send anything but promise they will. Terrible service. In addition to that, I've gone to another dentist since getting crowns here and my new dentist has pointed out ways that my last crown job (here at simi valley smiles) were done poorly. read more

Root Canal experience: I've finally found a Dental office that I can trust and the Dentist's are really good at what they do and not to mention the Manager and staff!! After searching for a few years for a dentist who wouldn't overcharge me and who have Dentists that are patient and know what they're doing, I'm so happy with this choice!! I had a fear of Dentists from previous experiences and I had a tooth that was bothering me for the last few years of the pandemic which I put off way too long. After assigning myself to Simi Valley Smiles, I called for an emergency visit because the tooth infection had become unbearable and even had to go to the hospital from the pain. The office Manager Mahnaz Tavakoli was super nice and understanding. She got me in Asap and she was wonderful about NOT overcharging me! Dr. Khalili did my Root Canal and I was shocked it wasn't painful, he was really patient with me, his assistant was awesome as well. Dr. Sehtareh did the filling post procedure and she was very nice and quick, no pain at all. Looking to change my daughter over soon and looking forward to going back and taking care of my teeth. read more

The WORST dentist experience. I absolutely loved my dental hygienist at Avenue of smiles, Nina. Going to see her was like going to see an old friend, always such a pleasure and she actually cared about my teeth and rejoiced in the progress we made! I couldn't have asked for better. Unfortunately, we switched insurance and I went to see Dr. Setareh and she barely spent maybe 10 minutes on my teeth at most and kept complaining about how she can't do anything because they're bleeding too much and it's too painful for me. She repeatedly said I grind my teeth so I need to get fitted for a sleep guard, for which I'm definitely getting a second opinion because I'm not too sure about that. I'll try to keep it in mind though. The assistant Marlee (I think that's her name) is the absolute worst!! She repeatedly lied to me. Told me that she would call me if she had any openings after scheduling my appointment months out and I never heard from her. She told me this several times to the point where I didn't even bother scheduling the appointment thinking they'll have openings for sure. Then she told me repeatedly she would email me my referral and of course never did. Then I called to follow up and asked to have the referral emailed to me and of course, never heard from her. Loved the dentist but the person responsible for informing you what you owe is awful. They we supposed to call before the end of year with our coverage and out of pocket that my husband needed done. We wanted to put the 2022 and 2023 benefits a week or so apart so he could get the most done with low out of pocket. They never gave us the information. Went in person after first of year and person was supposed to call or email within 24 hours. Never happened. Called this AM and that person was on the phone and would call me right back. Never happened. Guess I will have to contact Medicare/Kaiser and tell them we need to change offices because although the dentist is great the staff is bad. Or at least this one person is. I have written before regarding my praise for this practice; I write again because I have had years of bad dentistry and disappointments (I am soon to be 75) until I came into this Smiles office under Dr. Setareh and Mimi, office manager. I recently had complicated work done... to perfection. Dr. Khalili did the root canal and he and his assistant Henry were so very professional and the work was excellent. Dr. Setareh and Katherine, assistant, did the hard work of breaking a 3-tooth bridge and takin care of the cavity and infection near the root, and also did the prep work the week before and then followed up after the root canal -- again, an incredible experience for someone who has, as I said, suffered from bad dentistry. As is NORMAL for this office, Mimi and the office staff were upbeat and helpful. This is why I am always at ease with this practice -- forgot to add the upbeat and "upper" personalities here -- no gloom and doom, no rudeness, just cooperative and caring ways. read more

Be sure you go here with eyes wide open. I was scheduled for a teeth cleaning today, I was called 5 days ago saying they would have to cancel because they don't have a hygienist ??? Naomi cleaned my teeth last time and did a great job. When I asked Simi Valley Smiles about when I can expect to reschedule, they couldn't give me a date??? Possibly December, they will put me on a list??? I don't know how you can run a dental office without a hygienist. My insurance changed when my wife and I retired, this is who our insurance provider recommends. We have gone here a couple of times each, every time we go it seems like their practice is to try and up sell you on something that is not covered by insurance. I'm sure you will be advised that you need a bite guard, or a scaling and root planing procedure, or a antibacterial procedure. I was quoted a price of $460 for the scaling and anticbac procedures, I declined as this is not covered by insurance and was never suggested by may last dentist of 20 plus years. I asked their hygienist after my last teeth cleaning how my teeth and gums looked, she said great, never said anything about the up sell procedures recommended. My wife did get talked into the bite guard for $135 that is not covered by insurance. On my last visit while I was waiting in the lobby, I overheard multiple customers being recommended to get a bite guard ??? BEWARE OF THE UP SELL On a positive note, the facility is clean and equipment seems to be modern. read more

Gives me the guilt trip and "You're the man of the house" speech to try and pressure me into buying. I have had 2 crowns, 1 inlay, and 1 onlay done at Simi Valley Smiles. BEWARE! Dental staff themselves are talented and nice, but should leave and go find another office. The front office billing practices are questionable to say the least. Mimi, office manager never responds to calls and when I requested estimates for work - each time the prices of everything was different. One time the crown would cost $898, another $999 and still another for $1200 for the same tooth - all of those prices were hundreds above the allowed maximum billing by the insurance company. Instead of dealing with me directly, returning my numerous phone calls or even answering my mailed letter they turned me over to collections because they don't have any idea how to properly bill dental insurance companies. I question whether or not this misbilling is done on purpose to get more money out of patients who don't know any better. If you look on Nextdoor.com there are several additional complaints from several other past clients who have also had billing woes with Simi Valley Smiles some even having to go as far as small claims court. My next step is with the BBB and disputing charges. Do yourselves a huge favor and stay away from this headache inducing office. read more

Went for a few years. Enjoyed Shari, the hygentist. Office help friendly. After a couple years with crown replacements, I was told I needed 2 more crowns replaced, one of my gold ones. I was happening to travel to Mexico in a month, so opted to have it done there. When I went, I was happy with dentist in Cozumel. He spent over an hour with xrays, full mouth pictures. I told him of the two crowns SMILES told me needed replacement...he came back to me and said.."wish I could find a reason to remove these crowns, but cant find a good reason to do so." I just returned from a new dentist in Simi, again no need to replace those crowns. Just makes me wonder..... :( read more

I have been to some horrible and so so dentist before in the past. My last dentist had problems keeping a schedule and wouldn't be sharp when it was my appointment. Would have to wait 20 mins from my 2:30pm appointment. It was so annoying. But when coming here, it was sharp. The staff that took pictures of my teeth with the machine was super friendly, and the Dr. Was really nice as well.
