I am a big fan of First Street Shoe Repair! The prices are right and this gentleman knows how to fix shoes. Polishing, new heels, scuffs, stains on leather...he fixes it all! He also sells those little adhesive skid things that you can put on the sole of your shoe or these cushion "taco" things that go into high heels to make them fit better and avoid blisters. Just got new heels on a pair of tall black boots from Aldo's and another pair of boots cleaned up (taupe boots with a liquor spill stain, scuff, etc..i was so nervous that these couldn't be saved!!) = $27. So grateful! I have a customer here for over 5 years. He does a fantastic job fixing up men's and women's shoes. FYI- cash or check only! No credit cards. I had First Street Shoe Repair polish and add heel support to my Brown Leather dress shoes. He performed the work and I picked up the shoes. They were polished and the support he sewed into both heels felt/performed just fine. So, I wore them a few times before my wife tells me my shoes are two different shades of brown. My eyes aren't what they used to be but she was 100% correct. Once she pointed this out, I took them back to have him fix them or polish them with the same color. The guy tells me it can't be corrected and that it's not his fault. He remembers and shows me the polish he used. I said just fix it. He said nothing can be done. I find it hard to believe that this man would not fix the problem he created. He offered no solution or any apology. I had to leave before I did something I would regret. This matter has not been resolved and I'm looking to find a solution. I would not trust this business with any repair. Can't even polish a pair of brown shoes. The owner doesn't stand behind his work! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) which this shoe repair store failed to respond. The BBB has lowered their grading of this company so I did my part to inform the public. I'm now exploring other ways to hold this company accountable for destroying my property. My double BOB stroller had a large (and growing) hole right in the middle where everything is pulled together. I took a picture of my stroller in and showed them. I brought my boot in on a Friday needing a sole repair. The toe of my sole was coming off and Sonny told me he'd have it done for pickup the next day. Flash forward to then and I totally forgot about picking it up since I got wrapped up in some work. I realized this around 2:24 pm (He closes at 2:00 on Saturdays) and gave the store a call to see if he was still there. Fortunately he was and after apologizing for the late call, he told me I was more than welcome to come in to grab my boot. I just picked up what had previously been extremely scuffed, worn-out, sorry tall black leather boots and I'm AMAZED. They look new. Better than new because they still have the worn look but they're supple and shiny. He even made the brass buckles look perfect. He real Issue were the heels. They were splitting from all the wear (low heeled riding boots) and since they were pretty pricey I wanted to see if they could be salvaged. Well again- they're perfect. New heel looks exactly like the rest of the existing sole only - you guessed it- new. I feel like I have new shoes. For 30 bucks and a super fast turnaround this service and quality cannot be beat.
