My girlfriend picked this place to have brunch! I didn't even know it existed! Wow!!! I'm so happy we came here! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very inviting. Clean and decorated in a nicely theme. The waitress knew I was new and took her time explaining the menu. I wanted to try everything! The food was scrumptious and didn't want it to end! We actually sat there 3 hours and talked after eating and no one came up to us and said they needed our table. The restaurant was busy! The prices are good too! They opened in 2017 brand new restaurant. If your ever down town Johnson City give First Watch a try you won't be disappointed! I'm bringing my hubby to First Watch for him to try! With all these 5 star reviews, I was expecting a great experience. What a letdown. We were seated fairly quickly but felt rushed right away because we weren't even seated when we were asked about coffee. Okay. No hurry, man. The menu has a good enough selection of breakfast foods and we weren't looking for trendy stuff. Order taker was friendly and took our requests in a timely manner. Then we waited. It seemed like it took longer than it should have, and there was a reason why. When our plates were delivered, I knew the food wasn't hot as it should be because the butter on my waffle wasn't even melting. The server just plopped the plates in front of us, like he was in a big hurry. My husband had one of the skillet dishes. Eggs looked and tasted a bit rubbery and the potatoes were partly burned. Lukewarm at best. My waffle was really disappointing. Really small. Even smaller than the ones I make on my home waffle maker. And chewy, not fluffy. The fruit compote it came with was all of about an ounce of fruit/sauce, which isn't enough to cover a fourth of the waffle. At least that, and the syrup were hot, but that didn't make up for the tepid temp of the waffle. We would normally say something, but I wasn't interested in waiting, yet again, for another round of food that wasn't hot. So, since we are not really picky, we just ate it, as we needed to get back on the road. The served didn't come by again mid-meal to see if we needed anything else, which was poor form. To the places' credit, they did reduce the bill when we told the cashier the food was cold, and she apologized, but I would never come back. Almost $30! Even the coffee was almost $3 a cup (refillable if desired) but that's way more than I usually pay at a food place. It wasn't that great. Lastly, the atmosphere was really noisy, so if you want some peace with your breakfast, don't come here. read more

I was excited to find out we were getting a First Watch in Johnson City. To me it is still a little odd because I associate it when I am in Florida but either way the food is still good and unfortunately, the wait is still long most times. When the wait is long, the unfortunate thing is that means the restaurant is also busy. I have had both great experiences while it is busy and bad ones. It just depends on the day and staff. The food is always worth it though. It may be a little pricy but the food is fresh, healthy, and is very tasty. Definitely worth the price for a good breakfast! read more

This review would have been much better if it weren't for service and wait time. The food was very good. I had the farmhouse hash. This came with fruit, toast and a large bowl of fantastic hash. The eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium). The potatoes were a bit crispy without being overdone. My wife enjoyed the blte. The downside of this experience was the forever wait. It took us about 30 minutes to be sat. This isnt a huge deal considering it was 1315 on a sunday. The biggest issue was it took an hour to get our food. Under most circumstances this isnt a big deal, but our server seemed to have cared less. I get it that we were there well past closing time, but that would have been avoided with quicker service. read more

Oh my gosh, so good!! My hubby and I decided to try this place out based on the excellent reviews and we were not disappointed! The venue is eclectic in style, but comfortable. We went in the morning around 8 am and they were not super busy, but there were several customers other than ourselves. Service was excellent. The wait staff was universally helpful and friendly. And the food!! I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine and it was amazing. I'm a bit picky about my eggs Benedict but this did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly cooked with runny yolks and the hollandaise was flavorful but not overwhelming. The chiabatta toast was a perfect complement. The dish comes with a side salad which was a very nice accompaniment. My husband had the turkey egg white omelet. He enjoyed it very much, but prefers an omelet with whole eggs, so it wasn't his favorite. We'll be coming back to try more of their menu for sure! read more

Asked for no drizzle on the million dollar bacon. We got drizzle on our bacon. They did fix the issue. Ordered eggs over medium. Eggs were well done. Potatoes - raw yet burnt...???? Asked if eggs Benedict could be put on the potatoes in a bowl. They said no problem - did not come out that way. Basically there is no point in ordering what you want. Just tell them to bring you what ever they want to bring you. You should not be in the breakfast business if you cannot cook an egg properly. Never got checked on to see if everything was ok. Well, that was a pleasant meal this morning! The restaurant was crowded, the servers were either too busy or often disappeared (and I could see into the kitchen, so I have no idea where they went), it was loud, and a bit pricey, but... the food was pretty darn good. To be honest, my wife's Eggs Benedict was underwhelming, but my breakfast sandwich was super tasty, the potatoes were very good, and all of the other meals other people were eating looked really good. We live about 40 minutes from our First Watch. When my hubby and I have a free morning we love to eat here. Yesterday we had our first bad experience. We were seated quickly. But we were not waited on until we went back and spoke to the hostess. Our waitress was very pleasant, took our order quickly. When our food came my husbands over easy eggs for his farm house skillet hash were not. When she brought them out she said she knew they were not right and that there was a new cook in the back and she had already requested his eggs be done over. Second set of eggs looked just as bad. I ordered eggs Benedict. When cutting into my eggs the yolks were solid like hard boiled eggs. I did not send them back and only ate one of the two. Our waitress asked if we'd like to have any to go boxes. We stated no, that my eggs were solid. She apologized. She gave us 10% of each meal. My 10% didn't even cover the $$ I paid to have two slices of avocado added to my eggs Benedict. It was a very disappointing visit. I usually do not mind the cost of my meal because normally it is worth it. But this time I feel like I wasted my time and money. read more

The food here is very good. I went for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed everything I had to eat. The staff was very attentive and the gentleman we had was phenomenal. The only reason I mark them this low is because of the issues getting a table. We called ahead and was told we could not make a reservation. We arrive and are told the wait time would be 30-45 minutes with 8 parties being ahead of us. An hour and 45 minutes later we were finally seated. Went back last Sunday and got the same story, 30-45 minute wait and we chose to go elsewhere. With the crazy waits the place has no accommodation. We stood with our kids for over and hour because there was no place to sit. Only place close to walk to is a Starbucks attached to the same building which was also overflow from this place. I enjoyed the meal but not enough to spend over and hour on my one day off waiting for a table. I will be back if they allow reservations or better accommodations until then there are other good brunch options in Johnson City that don't require this type of wait with the same quality food. read more

I try to avoid chain restaurants, but relatives insisted we try First Watch. We reserved our table by iPhone app on Sunday 4/29/18 for 11:27 am. The place was jammed but our wait was less than 5 minutes after arrival. This restaurant's features are breakfast/brunch, and lunch. Two in our party had the Tri-Fecta - - 2 fresh cage-free eggs and a multigrain pancake, bacon; another had the middle griddle with grits & cheese; my wife had the 1/2 & 1/2 - salad and half a ham sandwich. Me? Being a vegetarian, I opted for the veggie burger with smashed avocado, greens, tomato, and dijon mustard sauce -- WoW - - best I've ever had in any restaurant. Pricing was reasonable (1/2 & 1/2 with salad & veggie burger came to only about $18. Service was fantastic even through the place was packed with standing line for 1.5 hours. First Watch features fresh local products and cage free eggs. There is absolutely nothing that I can say bad about this Sunday morning dining experience. read more

Love the food here. The variety is like something we would get in Asheville. Employees are usually really friendly. Star was removed because the coffee is pretty terrible.
