While I would be the first to admit this place is a little "hoity-toity" for me for breakfast, I will say the breakfast I had was delicious and fresh. I went over the menu several times to find something that didn't have wheat germ or avocados on my breakfast, and couldn't. So I went with the wheat germs and ordered the Floridian French Toast. And I will admit it was pretty good. I should have went with the orange juice instead of the coffee (a little to bold for me), but all in all pretty good. I will also throw in the fact that if you're a businessman (like myself) and you're looking to make contacts with other professionals and business owners, you should come here for breakfast. We love First Watch restaurants for many reasons including their menu, their setting and their service that varies from location to location. Today we went to this just opened replacement for the location closer to Man o'War. It was a perfect experience - something quite rare. We had a short time before another obligation and everything happened quickly. The food was great and we loved the fresh-squeezed orange juice - we ordered a second one. Some late additions to our order while eating came out much faster than I expected. Thank you Brianna and your whole team! P.S. - at the South Broadway location, I have been disappointed on occasion with the service. Service was slow and it was hard to get staff attention after their first delivery of an order. I observed staff gabbing when they should have been looking for eye contact with customers needing service. Fortunately, leadership at this new location seems to be excellent. read more

Biscuits and Gravy were legit, but the potatoes as a side were almost entirely raw and drenched in oil. The eggs were also definitely not farm direct as their branding claimed. At least they were NOT fresh. We have a personal flock of free range egg laying chickens, and if their eggs did come direct from farm, they sat in the back of their fridge for a month. Flavorless rubber flavor. Our server Makenzie was great, but way understaffed. One thing is they need to disclose forced tipping. Before you get angry we left a 45% tip. Left a 30% cash tip, and when we went to pay the bill the options were "15%, 20%, 25%, other suggested 30%". I just hope she wasn't forced to split the tips. I literally tried to flag down 3 other servers, who were just doing walk around checks, and they two looked right at me waving and just straight ignored me. The other server was a blonde and she was so swamped I totally understand her (assuming she) not noticing. TL;DR: Most staff couldn't be arsed, and I feel bad for the few who are clearly busting their behinds to pick up the slack. And don't eat the potatoes because they can't cook them for s#%€. After a swim at the YMCA, I headed to FW because I earned a reward. Scanning the Monday Lexington Herald I noted the 45 new local places highlighted in the paper. I considered the Lexington choices and then my Carnitas Breakfast Burrito arrived at the table. WOW. The pork, cage-free scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, black beans, lemon tahini arugula, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese and avocado wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla covered in tomatillo hollandaise topped with pickled red onion arrived. SO very glad to have FW in Richmond. I will not be driving to Lexington for a brunch reward after a swim workout. read more

I always enjoying trying their specials since they are time limited. Today I got the Summer Crab Omelet to go. I was impressed it had fresh crab rather than imitation crab meat. It also had corn, red peppers, cheese and scallions. It was delicious. Not too fishy and light. They did not go light on the crab meat which was another plus. The only reason it gets a 4 star versus 5 is they forgot my toast. I probably did my need it anyway but I did pay for it. The entrees they make for their hours is misleading. I wanted a burger made and I went there at around 10:04 a.m. and they basically told me that they could give me an alternative; however, not that specific burger. I was never told why either. Now, on the front door, it states: Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. DAILY. So, if this cafe focuses on those three meal times and they are only open until 2:30 p.m., why not make every entree that comes with those hours. The hours could split off from 10:45 a.m. where they begin a lunch or something. Heck, brunch in itself could be lunch items made during breakfast (I am assuming they could not make this certain burger because they were only doing breakfast...I was never told). But if it is advertised by what was on the door, I would think you could order any type of entree, during those hours whether breakfast, brunch, or lunch. read more

Food was fine. Service was time consuming. After the waitress dropped off our food. She never came back. I had to ask two separate waiters for my sweet tea and maple syrup and extra napkins that we ever got. Waiting on everything took too long. Finally we decided to just pay and leave. After this we won't be returning to any First Watch for a while. read more

First watch always has something healthy and filling. I had the Avocado Toast and one of their morning juices. My SO had an omelet. It was perfect! I could go on and on about how amazing and fresh our food was but our service was the best part. He was attentive, made recommendations, didn't over bother us (we tend to like to be left alone after we order). My favorite place to get power food and take people for a brunch. We come here to eat an average of 3 times per week since they opened. This week we have eaten here 5 times while on staycation. What a great crew and environment!! I purposely ask for the managers on duty two different days to compliment them. Summer and Taylor!! Thanks for leading great teams! I'm a multi unit manager for a service industry company and I'm very impressed! I did witness a couple instances near me where a few bad apple customers were abusing your staff. It had ZERO to do with the staff! I witnessed these people say horrible things to your team. They STILL went out of their way to accommodate( even though they had done nothing wrong)..... I'd love for these people at First Watch to work for me! Maybe I'll offer them positions in my company. The server that helped us was named Jacob, such a nice young man and very friendly. Was seated and waited for 15 mins before I got up and walked out without one person trying to serve me. The only person I was greeted by was the hostess who seated me in a section with 3 people and 2 waitresses. Very disappointed. If I could could give them a negative star review I would. We are regular guests that come weekly and the service is always great & the staff we got to know , Jacob is one of the servers there always kind and polite, and goes that extra mile to make sure the food is what we ask for , and if there is anything else we need , can't get this every where you go , the managers Summer & Taylor I believe are also great managers friendly and always professional and asking how was your service! Avacado toast was really good but just like every restaurant that claims to be a breakfast place that doesn't train their cooks on how to cook eggs, they failed at their attempt at over medium eggs. I gave them two chance but both times they failed. First one was sunny side down(if that's a thing) second was over easy. Breakfast chefs! Listen up! Over medium is in between over easy and over well(hard). So however long you cook those two, just average it out and voila, over medium. read more

We were seated and it took a long time for the waiter to even acknowledge us, we ordered our food and asked for waters, took 20 min. for food to arrive and we still hadn't gotten water, it took another 5 minutes to get water and it was tepid water in a jug with no ice. My sandwich which was grilled an supposed to be hot but was cold, my husband was charged $4 for a tiny cup of fruit and his burger was tasteless.
