First review of First Watch in quite a while. Only other review was less favorable primarily because of the loud music which has subsequently been moderated to a more casual level. The food for breakfast has become a good option for us when we are on Merritt Island. Of the breakfast places in the area this one is a solid option and earns the 4 stars. The coffee is good and plentiful. The preparation and presentation are solid, and the service is consistent and pleasant. We normally get the triathlete and the trifecta with a blueberry pancake. The pancake is always the highlight with very fluffy texture and a nice blueberry compote accompaniment. read more

Got there at 0915. Seated right away. Waited for a couple of other people. We were a party of 3. It wasn't too busy. As soon as I sat down, I was asked if I would like something to drink to start off while I was waiting for my other two people. I asked for coffee and water. Not soon after did everyone else arrive. They were also greeted right away and was asked what tenanted to drink. The menu is pretty extensive. We ended up just getting 2 traditional breakfasts and a tri-fecta. Everything came out in a timely manner. The coffee is already at the table with its own little little thing. They have us a "pitcher" of water. It's nice to not have to ask for refills. I liked that a lot. Everything was so good! The potatoes and the waffle were my favorite. I didn't know how I'd feel about that cinnamon butter. But it wasn't too sweet or overwhelming. Could've used another dollop but it was good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their breakfast. No complaints there. The lemon ricotta pancake was interesting. A little too zesty for me but I didn't hate it. Brooklyn was phenomenal!!! Service was outstanding, she was attentive, extremely pleasant and kept the coffee full. Loved the flavored creamers on the table as well as the hot sauce. Easter morning: 9:30 wasn't busy as I thought it would be. Plenty of available seating. By myself, they offered the "bar" so I took it. After about 10 min with no service, I walked back over and requested a table & was promptly seated. Food was delivered quickly, catsup bottle empty so switched with the next table over since my waitress wasn't available. Eggs Benedict was served cold/warm, greens were still cold.. ugh. Seemed a little odd to not put ice. Our server barely paid us any attention and when we did interact, she seemed annoyed that I had a question or needed her help with something. The menu had plenty of fresh, healthy options, which is something I appreciate about all the restaurants I have visited of this chain. I ordered the Trifecta--eggs, bacon, and a Belgian waffle--and everything was hot, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The bacon was crispy, the eggs cooked just right, and the waffles had a nice golden, crispy texture. The one difference between this dish and other locations is that they do not give jam with the dish. I also liked how the staff kept the space clean and checked in at just the right times--never overbearing, just helpful. Prices were a bit above average for a breakfast spot, but considering the quality of the food and service, it felt justified. Honestly thought I would love it here I've had the yogurt bowl thing before to go when my job ordered food and we thought we'd come in and sit.. our server seemed aggravated and a little hostile the entire time like she was mad we were there. The food was okay.. the potatoes were not really cooked all the way. Also the "caramel coffee" should be illegal it tasted like watered down chocolate milk and I couldn't force myself to drink it. I had a miserable first experience here which started when the decaf coffee I ordered had a strange and unpleasant taste -- which made sense when I realized that it was hot tea and not coffee. It took several minutes to get the attention of the service staff, and several minutes later they brought me a second cup, insisting it was coffee when it was, again, hot tea. It took many more minutes to bring me a glass of water and an even more time to get a very anemic cup of decaf. The result was that I spent most of my meal without a beverage, and trying to get the attention of the wait staff, and then waiting for something to drink. I took the time to complain about this on the corporate website. This got me a nice conversation with the manager, who seemed very concerned about the issue. I was most concerned about the waitstaff trying to gaslight me, by insisting that the second cup of hot tea they brought me was decaf, and also by the delay in bringing me anything at all (a glass of water) that I could drink with my meal. The manager said she wanted me to return, and wanted to make things right, etc., and said she would send "some gift cards", which I took to mean one gift card to replace my meal. The gift card never came. I let her know that, and it still didn't come. Maybe this is a corporate problem, or maybe it's a local problem, but I didn't appreciate that I had had an unpleasant meal, then donated many minutes of my time to the manager so they could fix their problems, and then they did not keep their word about sending the gift card. So here I am on Yelp, spending yet more time to let you all know that this happened. I am leaving two stars instead of one because the chocolate chip pancakes were very good. I'm not expecting to return here because breakfast is relatively expensive ($50 for two people including tax and tip), and the service should be commensurate with the price. And, I think management should be impeccable with their word, when they say they are going to do something for a customer. The atmosphere of the place is mostly pleasant (acoustically loud, but decorated nicely), and it could be a wonderful place to eat. I just didn't have that experience. read more
