This diner serves up some delicious food and has become part of my family's cruising routine. My family cruises out of Port Canaveral a few times a year. In 2021, we took quite a few cruises thanks to some great rates coming out of Covid. Well, we got to the point that we were sick of getting up at 6am for that cruise line "express" breakfast so we decided to stop somewhere on the way home for something different. It was then that we discovered the Country Cookin Diner. This place is so good it has now become part of our routine and we almost always have breakfast here upon returning from a cruise out of PC. The diner is located in a strip center by a Publix and recently relocated to the larger end spot. The must have for my family here is the biscuits and gravy. It is is top notch. They also have excellent grits which with just a bit of butter are quite excellent. I am also a big fan of their hot sauce, which is not a brand I'm super familiar with, but is super yummy. We haven't ordered anything here that wasn't outstanding. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

We try and stay away from the touristy areas when we are home down here. This was a good just off the freeway location in a strip mall behind the 7-11. When we entered we were promptly greeted and told to have a seat wherever we would like. After just a few moments were were again greeted at the table, provided a menu, and our drink order was take . The menu was the perfect size splitting up 2 pages for breakfast, 2 for lunch, and "dinner" on the back. Prices were comparable to restaraunts in the area. Except maybe for soda cost. 2 sodas cost $6.58 which just seems a little high to me. I might select water if I go back. I selected the Patty Melt (and added grilled mushrooms to it) with chips on the side. My wife selected the tuna salad wrap with fries. No complaints about the food at all. Food was very good, My drink did get a little low before she checked on us again but that was more the. Made up for in the end when she gave us some to go cups. They were huge and she joked that it would keep us hydrated for three days :) I would normally come back here and try something else but unfortunately they don't take American Express and that is my default card to use and try not to use a visa unless I have to. read more

This was our first time, and we thought it might be a good option that is relatively close to home. A real disappointment. The food (breakfast) was underwhelming and seemed pretty bland. Coffee was definitely sub-par, and at $2.79, wish I had brought my own. The omelette seemed a bit under-cooked and was a bit slimy. The scrambled eggs had no flavor until a good amount of salt / pepper were added. On a good note, the French toast was really good. Again, first time. With so many other options, I doubt we will return. Service was fine. Dining room is small and noisy but it looks like they are getting ready to move into a larger space. read more

Stopped here with my wife on the way to a trade show. Ready for brunch earlier but hesitated to stop off Orlando to Cocoa toll road. We stopped for gas and this restaurant was highly recommended. Quaint in a small shopping center, you might miss it. We came in early afternoon so not crowded, we were greeted and seated right away. An excellent menu but we were really looking for breakfast. My wife wanted to try the Belgium Waffle. She loved it. Needed no syrup, the fresh strawberries were delicious. She said best she had ever had. I went for my go-to, Country Fried Steak and eggs with biscuits and a side of gravy. Eggs were perfectly done. Steak was hot and crisp, tender and great. Biscuits were light and fluffy, gravy was not too thick, just added a little Tabasco for kick. Very filling, we stopped for a Publix salad for lighter dinner. read more

This one has the worst service of the 3 locations. Cook seems to be consistent (for the most part) across locations, but bad service here means - go to Rockledge or Pt.St.John location. Cook issue here - the white gravy tastes a little funky, not the same as Port St. John location. Over easy eggs undercooked - as part of the egg white was runny. Thin female server has lack of attention to detail, causing a bad dining experience: 1) asked for no lettuce on sandwich - got extra lettuce 2) asked for well toasted english muffin - nope, she can't get that right either. 3) She sits at a customers table for 5 mins - while food sits waiting to be served. This was my first experience here and I saw how many returning regulars there were -- they knew each other's names and what they did for a living. You can tell loyalty works both ways - great service and great food will keep bringing people back in. This place has both. I ordered the fried catfish with eggs. The portion was massive with two farmed fillets, two eggs, and my choice of breakfast potatoes and a side of two biscuits with gravy. We just got off a Royal Caribbean cruise and found this place through our Garmin, and we are very glad we did! The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was fresh and not too strong, which is the case with many breakfast restaurants. The owner was amazing - very friendly and attentive. My family was driving up to Jacksonville this morning, and leaving pretty early, we were hungry for some good breakfast! Going in, there was decent amount of seating, but crowded inside. Today we ordered 1 smoked sausage breakfast with scrambled eggs, 1 bacon egg breakfast, 1 waffle, and 1 bacon, egg, & cheese breakfast sandwhich on English muffin (all egg breakfast come with Home fries and toast or biscuit). Onward with my review, the breakfast was very good! For starters, the eggs on both meals were cooked perfect - over easy eggs were soft and creamy, and the scrambled eggs were not over cooked either. Also, the meats on both breakfast meals were well browned too, liked the smoky flavor on sausage (probably kielbasa). Moreover, really enjoyed most of all the breakfast sandwhich and waffle! The breakfast sandwhich was well stacked with all the fillings and had a fresh taste! The waffle tasted house made as it had a vanilla and sweet flavor even without syrup! Only thing stopping this place from a 5/5 were the home fries as they lacked browning and taste. Despite this, our server was very attentive. Country Cookin Diner-Rockledge- 0.5-Stars ****SWILL ALERT**** "I will eat disgusting things, but only those with long-established culinary traditions." -- Dana Goodyear I abhor national chain restaurants, which is why you will never see a BBDO review for Chili's or, *shudder* Olive Garden. However, small local chains are something I do like to see, at least when they are slingin' quality slop, for nothing pleases me more than local entrepreneurial success. So, when Country Cookin' Diner showed up on my random generator, I was actually looking forward to trying their fare, with three locations I figured they must be doing something right. Judging by how packed their parking lot was in Rockledge at 9:43 in the morning, I again thought that they must be serving at the least, average foodstuffs, if not downright good grub. Upon entering I was greeted warmly enough and didn't have too long of a wait before I was seated. Turning my avid eyes towards their menu I found nothing extravagant, just your average diner fare, being a sybarite, I grudgingly came to the conclusion that there would be no eggs Benedict with fresh lox and homemade Hollandaise sauce this morning, but if the home fries were good, I could live with that. Soon enough I was greeted by a charming individual who introduced herself as Keely and asked me if I had any questions or was I ready to order. Keely, as mentioned, was charming as well as diligent and honest. Her service was the saving grace to be sure, but I get ahead of myself. I asked Keely if I could have the Country Fried Steak and eggs (over medium) with home fries, a medium-rare Patty Melt and a side of biscuits and gravy. As Keely scampered off to place my order, I took the opportunity to glance about the place. It was clean, tidy, well lit and did have a certain "homey" feel. If we at BBDO rated such things as ambiance, this place would be above average for a greasy spoon type diner. Considering how busy the place was, my food was brought out within an acceptable amount of time. As one can see by the photos, everything looked as it should and was not unappealing to the eye. However, once again, we at BBDO don't give all that much credit to the presentation, to us, it's all about the execution. First up on the Big Boy palate was the Country Fried Steak and eggs breakfast platter. Man, that sounds good, does it not? Alas, it was far from good and as it turned out, just this side of edible. The home fries were flavorless discs of carbohydrates, the steak was the proverbial hockey puck of grossness, while the gravy had that unmistakable made fresh from the packet taste. At least the eggs were satisfactorily cooked over medium and didn't taste bad. Turning my attentive taste buds towards the Patty Melt, I first pulled it apart to look at the patty itself. Did it look homemade? No, no it did not. Did it taste freshly made in the back? Again, no it did not. This was so disgusting that I had to spit it out. The fries were unmistakable the frozen not fresh variety and while they were deep-fried to a beautiful golden brown, they were completely flavorless. One bite and I was ready to move on to the final item up for review, the side of biscuits and gravy. At this point in the meal, I had a fair idea that the biscuits would be of the frozen plug and play type and I was not wrong in this assumption. They were flat and had that unmistakable fresh from the freezer after taste we have all come to know and love. The gravy was the same reconstituted flavorless powder crap they served with the Country Fried Steak and I assure you, it didn't taste any better here. It really isn't all that hard to make a gravy from scratch, nor is it all that difficult (as past reviews have noted) to make powdered gravy at the least palatable, with the right doctoring and execution. The fact that they have expanded to three locations does not speak to their fare, but rather is a testament to how little the bulk of humanity cares about quality food. I firmly stand behind my swill alert and 1/2-star rating. The Big Boy says, "this is swill through and through and should be avoided at all cost." Just to further drive home the point on how bad this stuff was, I actually stopped at a McDonald's on the way home to wash the horrid aftertaste from my mouth. That's right, I cleansed my palate with a Big Mac. That speaks volumes to the horrendous swill I had been served at the Country Cookin' Diner in Rockledge. #bigboydiningout #iamthebigboy read more
