I visited Arizona about a year back. Quite delayed on my review but I think for First Watch it doesn't matter. This is a place that will not fade with time in my opinion. One of the most remarkable franchises I've been to for brunch! So many incredible and tasty options I recall my best friend wondering if I was going to take forever ordering. Forgive my memory but I believe I ordered a morning meditation beverage, with a seasonal special pancake, and omelette. The pancake was humongous but decently flavored. This place is truly adorable! For one, I appreciate their kindness in seating us although they were closing in an hour. Me and my friend weren't there long, but we thoroughly enjoyed their drinks and breakfast menu! I love their Purple Haze drink from their juice bar category. It was beautiful to look at and delicious to taste. My friend ordered their Trifecta and I ordered their French Toast w/ the berry jam on the side. Everything came out fast and HOT! We were under limited time since we didn't want to overstay our welcome but we definitely plan on coming back when our schedules allow us to get there earlier! I would also like to add our waitress was a SWEETHEART. She was attentive and great to talk to. Unfortunately the tempe store has horrible service as far as management. My wife and I ordered two entrees to go on Friday. One being an open faced sandwich and the other entree was the tri fecta. Once I got home I went to grab my food and They forgot my eggs! I called in and they said to come back and they'd remake it for me. I came back in Monday and the asked for the manager and explained the situation. His reply was " well it wasn't me you spoke to" instead of fixing the order his arrogance and ego is what mattered more. I love the food and Brand of this restaurant but the manager was not only very rude but didn't make sense when i explained that One of YOUR employees said to come back to fix your mess Up. read more

Good coffee, good service clean. Food quality low cold bacon, burnt potatoes lukewarm pork sausage link. Pancake warm on the inner part cold on the outer park. First time there not impressed. Sorry to say Denny' serves a better breakfast than First Watch and less expensive. I was asked at checkout how my food was and not expecting any compensation for my negative review . I have visited 4 different First Watch restaurants in AZ and have loved each experience. Their food and beverage menu is the star. Their service and atmosphere is the bonus. Pricing is doable since the portions match well. It's my new "go to" when people need to meet for breakfast or lunch. read more

As long as you dont have dietary restricions, this is the place for you. For some reason i thought there were at least gluten free pancakes or french toast, but i am wondering if i am getting it confused with the ones back home in maryland, of if i was just imagining things. I was able to get an omlette and a piece of gluten free toast the only GF thing on the menu. It was ok. The other menu items look good though. read more

More wonderful eating adventures in Tempe. This place has a huge and quirky menu full of interesting looking stuff. It was one of those places where you could close your eyes and randomly choose something. I loved my chickichanga, which was exactly the right size and level of spiciness. Docked 2 stars due to wait times and parking: The wait here was excruciating...we made a Yelp reservation to hold our spot in line on the drive over (said we preferred outdoor seating, but it didn't matter to us, really), and checked in within the time it told us to. Not sure what happened in their system though.... Yelp said we had 3 parties ahead of us, then 2, then 1, but then it went back up to 2... then stayed at 1 for a while, even though we saw at least 3 parties go through. We figured the system was pushing us bask since we "requested" outdoor seating, but we could also clearly see an empty seat on the patio with the menus ready and everything...This whole time we are sitting in the waiting area watching all these people go ahead of us. It was SO frustrating to sit there hungry as heck. After ~45 min of waiting, a waiter came up and asked us if we were on the list because he noticed we had been waiting for quite awhile. After that he seated us, and the meal was pretty good. Very filling. Overall, the place was a nice sit down place. The parking lot was atrocious, and I would just suggest putting your name down when you get there in person because the Yelp thing obviously didn't work. Maybe try a different location, especially on the weekend, since this one is so busy with college students. read more

I guess avocado toast is a thing. This was my first experience and I love love it. I had one of their specials a green tea pancake which was really good. I ordered fresh maple syrup which came in a tiny personalized bottle. I would rank this place as one of the top breakfast places in town. Also great service. The hostess was particularly helpful. Meh, I don't understand the hype. The juice drink I had was disappointing. The supposed "vegan options" are so basic, underwhelming and left me feeling unsatisfied. Bottomline, if you're vegan, try a different breakfast spot like Scramble or Pomegranate. read more

Meh... I'm never particularly impressed with first watch. Nothing on the menu really stands out. Biscuits and gravy is sausage gravy. Just very bland. Chorizo omelet was good. Turkey burger was very good but the tomato soup was not a fan favorite with us. Didn't eat and of course waitress is too busy to notice and we are too indifferent to speak up. Coffee is refillable but cold coffee is not. I don't understand the price/quantity difference. Its like charging 10$ for two pancakes. Planned to have a sit down hot breakfast. Nice clean place with the industrial farmhouse decor. Ordered the farm house skillet and it looked good, but the potatoes were so salty the entire dish was unpalatable. So I broke the first rule of dining, I sent it back. At first the waitress tried to have just get a second order of potatoes, which agreed too, to only have her return saying all the potatoes were seasoned the same way. Yikes! She asked if I would prefer something else. I ask for a power bowl. In the meantime my wife and mother have already completed their meals. It was sometime before the waitress returned to tell me that the kitchen put my meal in a take out box. Okay now I was scared, I did not ask for this, and what was I going to find when I get where I am going go with the meal I intended to eat in the restaurant? I immediately cancelled that order. It would have been nice to asked, and I give her credit for telling me. One would have thought this would have brought the manger, but nope, she removed the meal from our gave us the check and to have a nice day. Apologies were in short supply. read more

Ambiance is okay. Nice location, good environment. Food was quite good. Jose, our waiter, was amazing- customer service rocked. However- the hostess with tattoos on her arms with short brown hair was completely rude. Took us off the list because we were "waiting" too long. However; when showing her that we received our text 5 minutes ago she proceeded to say "well, it felt long." Completely unprofessional and honestly quite embarrassing as my party was from out of state. Would I come to this location again? Probably not. I would probably go to the DTPHX location. read more

Great food as usual but ... does anyone work here? I waited. Three minutes at the host stand before anyone came to greet me and see me. I was sitting outside forever and never got my check as I suppose I was forgotten about. Now I'm standing at the host stand waiting to Pay My Bill and there's absolutely nobody on the floor. I went here on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised that the wait for a seat on the patio was 10 minutes! After being seated I tried they're new purple haze juice and it was perfectly sweet and exactly the refreshment I needed. I ordered the salmon frittata, it was flavorful, could have used some more veggies but I wasn't unsatisfied. It left me feeling light after the meal which I was happy about. I love coming to First Watch for breakfast or brunch. Their eggs Benedicts, sandwiches, omlettes, and frittatas are the best. With that said, I ordered the wrong thing this time. I had already eaten breakfast before my brunch date with friends, so I was looking for something light. The coconut pudding fruit bowl (I can't remember the actual name of the item) looked exactly like what I was looking for. The presentation was gorgeous when my food arrived. However, one bite and I knew that this was not going to the light mid-morning snack I wanted. The coconut pudding was incredibly thick and nothing like the fluffy pudding I was imagining. The chia seeds also added to its heaviness. Although the taste of the pudding, berries, and granola was great, I really couldn't handle the thick texture. Moving on, I tried the almond buttered toast. Again, it was sticky and thick. I really wanted to like this creative twist on a fruity snack, but I just couldn't handle the texture. If the coconut pudding could be made to resemble the smooth texture of yogurt, it would go down a lot better. read more

While First Watch's regular menu faire is delicious on its own, their seasonal menu never disappoints. Today we had the Barbacoa Quesadilla Benedict and the Blueberry Muffin Top Griddle Cakes. As a couple we love to split a sweet and savory brunch. The Benny was perfection. Spicy and creamy with perfectly cooked barbacoa. The Griddle cakes were topped with delicious fresh fruit (Those blackberries tho ) and a delicious granola. My guy always enjoys his house brewed coffee, and today I tried the Watermelon Wake-Up. We're always excited to try the new seasonal flavors offered, and keep our fingers crossed that some of our seasonal favorites will be back. (Short Rib Poutine hash ) read more

No regrets on this brunch choice. It was hard to choose what I wanted, but I ordered the seasonal cranberry/pomegranate juice and the chickichangas. Food was amazing- nicely well seasoned and just the right temperature. I had expected the chickichangas to be a little spicier (it wasn't spicy at all) but they still had good flavor without much kick. The side of potatoes made it a lot of food, so prepare to get a box. New favorite!! Great location right off University and Mill. Warm and welcoming ambience and staff. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into the design, decor, service, menu, and flow of the restaurant. Both indoor and outdoor patio seating available. In case there is a wait, there are comfortable seats and a cute little coffee station at the entry. Menu looked delightful and it was tough deciding what to order. Coffee comes with a carafe and they have a bowl of different flavored creamers as well as fancy sugar. They also provide a cold carafe of water for the table. Decided to try the kale tonic and was a little nervous it would be too grainy but it was so incredibly fresh, sweet and flavorful! Definitely a must try! For brunch we ordered the Italian omelet which came with sausage, roasted peppers, tomatoes and some kind of cheese, served with a side of lightly seasoned greens. Also ordered the elevated egg sandwich -- omg it was so fresh and good! It came with a side of seasoned potatoes so it was nice and filling. Kids menu also has some great, affordable options. We went with the fresh egg which came with bacon, toast and a small bowl of fruit- generous for around $5.75. There aren't too many breakfast spots in this part of Tempe so First Watch is an excellent addition and we'll definitely become regulars at this gem! read more

uuuggghhhhh!!! The thing I don't like about this place is that I don't have one where I live so I can't eat here all the time. This is my kind of breakfast place. Some days you want to be good and have a balanced good for you breakfast and other days you want to have pancakes or french toast with lots of butter and syrup. I super appreciate that they give you the option. I ordered the morning market vegetable omelet. Excellent. The veggies were super flavorful and had the right amount of crisp. An omelet can be kind of rich so the roasted tomatoes and goat cheese really gave it a nice acidic zing. I also LOVE when my breakfast includes a side salad. Mixed greens with a simple vinaigrette are where it's at for me. IMO, this should be a commonplace thing and not something I can only get when I go to Southern California or Europe. The other dishes in my party were really good as well. The summer menu has an Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash that was killer. SOOOO good. Again, perfect balance of flavor. The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star from me was the service. I understand that all the servers were on the younger side (ours was definitely early college aged wearing a side ponytail with a baby blue scrunchie) but that's no excuse for sub par service. She was around and visible but not very attentive. Complete aside... I really LOVE their website. I usually don't count calories but I happen to be at this moment in time and you can click on the menu items to see the calorie counts and manipulate your order. Example: my omelet was about 800 calories. If I didn't eat the toast it's down to about 500. If I changed from whole egg to egg whites, it's now at about 300. I can usually guess the numbers myself but it's awesome that they can help you out. read more

You know a good restaurant when there is a line out front. Figured we try it out. We were seated within 20 minutes. The restaurant is spacious. They could easiest fit more tables in there but I like the vibe. We were waited on timely. The coffee is good coffee (after all a breakfast place needs good coffee). The food is beautiful. There were so many unique choices it was hard to decide. I ended up with the Benedict Florentine. My complaint was the yolk was hard. It was more of a hard boiled egg. Also there was maybe a tablespoon of avocado in between the two eggs. Disappointing when these are two big parts of the Benedict. We also had the turkey biscuits and gravy. Think thanksgiving turkey gravy meets white breakfast gravy. It was very good. Well seasoned on freshly baked biscuits. Would I go back? Absolutely but I'd order something else. read more
