This was my first time to FW at any of their locations although how I was so surprised to find out this is a corporate establishment. I had the best experience. I loved the diverse atmosphere first of all. My server's name was Liz, and she was great! I'm normally not a reviewer, tho I felt her customer service, and of coarse he FOOD WAS THE BOMB! They had a whole side of the menu nothing but healthy eats in the am.....so to say the food was great and the atmosphere was cozy and friendly. They def attract a diverse customer and I love that! So I returned to First Watch after my initial poor experience. The second time around was better. THE GOOD... -minimal wait for table -glass bottles now with water for the table -pumpkin pancakes were good -kale, apple and lemon juice drink was good THE BAD... -again, the food took forever to come out -server not once visited the table to give any kind of update Although this visit was better than the first, the overall service is in need of training. I had breakfast there with my bf today for the very first time and we both thought the food was awesome. You get a good amount of food for the price. Our food came out pretty fast and it was delicious. Our waiter was very nice but you can tell that he was new and kinda nervous. I'm sure in time service will be better. Been to this location quite a few times, finally getting able to write a review! It's always busy, but relatively clean, quick, and delicious every single time. Today there was a bit of a backup seating tables, because the hostess' iPad wasn't working and one person was handling checkins, seating, and ringing up checks. The manager eventually came up and sorted it out by helping. The menu offers a wide variety of different types of breakfast/lunch foods, especially plenty of "healthier" options. The kitchen seems fairly efficient, usually only takes 10-15 minutes for food to come out hot and yummy! Overall, a solid breakfast place and a step above the nearest IHOP or Bob Evans! read more

I had the strawberry chicken salad minus the almonds since I am allergic to many tree nuts. He salad was good and incorporated a lot of fresh, juicy and sweet strawberries. The only downside to the salad was the small amount of Chicken that was provided. I assume because my order omitted the almonds, I noticed the lack of "protein" in the dish. What a great little breakfast/brunch spot! The ingredients were fresh and the food was well seasoned. I love that they incorporate avocado into a variety of dishes. I had a breakfast hash, and my husband opted for a sandwich (turkey club). Both were awesome! The menu has some great choices; I can't wait to return to try something else! I have very mixed feelings about First Watch. Food is fresh and decently priced. I enjoy the creative seasonal breakfast features (avocado on toast, fresh berries, yum!) Service however is not that great. The last time I went in I was carrying my son. My waiter watched me carrying him and trying to at the same time pick up and carry a high chair. Not only did he watch me carry both, he was standing at the table next to me and wouldn't move in a little so I could get past. Annoying, but not enough to write a bad yelp review. Today, I went for breakfast and stood at the front for about 10 minutes before even being acknowledged. When I was acknowledged, it wasn't until another customer came to the front to pay his bill and was finished. No good morning. No sorry for the wait. Nothing. I was seated with 2 small children for about 15 minutes and every employee in that restaurant walked past and ignored me! A waitress who was working in another section finally came over and apologized and took our order, even though we weren't her assigned table. She was very polite and helpful. I am patient to an extent, but it wasn't even that busy. I would have even been satisfied with a "I'll be with you shortly." Bottom line: Despite being mildly busy, 2 strikes in a row for poor customer service. There is one waitress there however who is always helpful and friendly. Tiffany I think? Tiffany was the one who made me give 3 stars instead of 2. This place would be more enjoyable if customer service was better! read more

I am on a constant quest for exceptional breakfast cuisine. On our way to Valley View Farm for spring flowers in North Baltimore County we discovered First Watch just in time for Saturday brunch. This was a wonderful find. We were quickly escorted to a table even though the restaurant was almost full. The menu was filled with scrumptious breakfast choices. I had whole grain blueberry pancakes with two free range scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. Yum! It was fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. The bill for two of us was less than $23.00. We are use to going to the First Watch in Pikesville off of Old Court Rd. We tried this location and the food was horrible. No comparison at all. I ordered Eggs Benedict and what I got was hard boiled eggs on top of my salmon. Told the waiter my order was wrong and I got new runny eggs in a bowl instead of a new plate of food brought out. Very unprofessional and discussing. What bothered me was when I saw my order was wrong, I didn't touch my plate because a typical respectable establishment would of took the plate back. Not here, I got runny eggs in a bowl. My husband sandwich was dry and partially burned. This location turned me off from this establishment and it's very disappointing because I loved the one in pikesville. read more

Went here with two other people on a Saturday morning. At 8am there was no wait at all. It was our first time here and we were greeted immediately. Our server was very friendly and around when we needed her. They are more options than expected... and it might be too many options. Everything kind of ran together and it was hard to tell what was what. The things in the "healthy menu" are a little, um, not healthy (crepes + granola + a "side of a muffin") so that was a bit of a turn off while reading the menu. I was underwhelmed by what I got, but that was my fault and I should have stuck with getting mushrooms IN an omelet, and not what was literally a bowl of mushrooms with cheese on it (the "Caps, etc." plate). See what I mean? Why is that an option? Who eats that for breakfast? I ordered it, so obviously me because I like mushrooms... and when faced with that as an option it sounded good. But it was not executed well so I'm not sure why it was an option at all. The mushrooms were verrrry oily. Eggs were fine, potatoes were good. I'd go again to try something else - maybe one of the hashes. The waffle looked good. The coffee should have been 2.50 for the entire table, not sure why it was so much per person. read more

Our uncaring server that finally showed up at our table offered us three FILTHY larger beverage glasses that were dripping wet and disgusting. She proudly said she hand washed them for us!!! We got up to leave and asked for the as yet unseen manager. He remained unseen and uncaring. This is a total shame for such a great restaurant in other states (Florida, Texas)!! This place should be called Second Hand Watch. Stopped in with my wife to get breakfast here for the second time. First time was okay. This time was ten times worse. The waitress was nice. I ordered pancakes and bacon. Thirty minutes later we we're still waiting. I watched a couple get seated after us, get there food served and get a check before we got the food. I brought this up with our server who said they somehow dropped our food order ticket. I asked for a manager to talk about it. This manager was a female on Monday morning shift. She was the rudest manager I've ever encountered. Instead of just apologizing for the mistake she kept interrupting me and coming up with excuses for the poor food service. Eventually they comped the meal. But I hadn't planned on waiting almost 45 minutes for pancakes and bacon. Will never go to this place again and recommend going to any other breakfast place in the area like the Towson Diner. read more

My friend and I stopped in here on a Sunday morning before hitting the road to drive home to MA. We had a 20 minute wait and after we sat down around noon it was still quite busy. The staff seemed stressed and very rushed. Understandable but the service suffered from rushed and infrequent check ins. My friend had to wait a solid 5 minutes for a server to come back with maple syrup after his food arrived. Our server was sweet and apologetic when we did see her. Aside from that, it was clean and a nice atmosphere. The menu was very interesting. We each tried a fresh juice, very reasonable at $4. Those were great! I got the Market Hash and it was very filling and tasty. A very good combo of veggies, potatoes, goat cheese and eggs. I would stop in again, probably on a less busy day. read more

I'm not going to go into detail about the food because every dish I've had is good and well, being a chain, it's consistently made. Perhaps it's a fluke but the service we've received here is always a bit off, especially if you compare it to their Pikesville location - hence the 3 stars. Here are some examples: 1) At our very first dining experience, I asked what the Veracruz sauce was on the Chickichanga and the server had no idea. She simply said it was good. I know this isn't a four star restaurant but what if I had a strong aversion or food allergy to an ingredient? If this is a signature menu item, the staff should be able to talk knowingly about it. 2) They tout their coffee pots, so I would think they would want to make sure you have what you need to enjoy it. During another visit, I noticed as soon as we were seated that there was only one Splenda packet available - and that just wouldn't cut it for my sweet tooth. Right after ordering coffee, I asked if the server would please bring out more Splenda, which she politely said "Right away!" and sadly, never did. Womp womp. 3) At their Pikesville location, the servers are so quick to bring out beverage refills that your glass never less than 1/3 full. Here, it's like pulling teeth to get one because they don't keep an eye on it nor do they check in regularly. And I know they change muffins daily, even sometimes even mid-day, but their servers have never been able to tell me what kind of muffin is available. 4) On our most recent visit, part of the way through my Fresh Fruit Crepes, I looked down to see that some of the banana slices that had fallen out were spoiled. When we brought this to the attention of our waiter, he said they looked fine and basically walked away. After some time, he dropped off a dish of more banana slices but we were already getting up from the table to pay. This place is fine if you're up already up the 83 corridor, but if you had the choice, I'd opt for their Pikesville location. The service is far beyond. read more

Sweet Husband Mine and I had been meaning to get down here to try this place out for ages, but we're typically late risers on the weekends, and it was always either closed or closing up when we finally arrived. This past weekend, however, we finally lucked out. After a long, hard workout on Saturday, SHM and I said, "Hey, First Watch, it's still open. Let's go!" At first glance, we were impressed by how BUSY it was, even at 1pm. We didn't think we were even going to be able to get a seat - but it was only a short, 5 minute wait and in the meantime we were allowed to peruse the menu. Staff was very friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. They have a handy website which you can use to count up calories/nutritional stats (though the total isn't available, you have to add the numbers up yourself - I didn't mind but it can be a pain for others). Once we did that, we ordered. I decided on a Chickichanga and SHM ordered a stack of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. People, you need to order this Chickichanga. I mean that very sincerely. It is probably one of the most delicious things I have ever had in my mouth. Scrambled eggs wrap up a filling of green chilies, chorizo sausage, onions, pure deliciousness, and it's all covered in a rich, velvety spicy tomato sauce (Veracruz) with sour cream. Oh-em-effing-GEE, okay? It came with a side of seasoned potatoes and a small bowl of fruit as well, just more temptation on top of temptation. All of this was accompanied by a bottomless (or so it seemed) coffee carafe, with International Delight creamers to top it off. SHM loved his pancakes - and yes, they are as big as your face. Definitely so. The Chickichanga (as ordered) can go over 1000 calories, so be mindful of that. For what it's worth, you can order it specially (no egg yolks, sour cream and sauce on the side, etc.) and they will accomodate with no fuss whatsoever. Definitely a plus. They have other items that are not breakfast-oriented, and I may try those on my next visit. The price was stellar at 21 dollars for two, and the quantity (and quality!) of the food was very worth the money. If you want a personal "homemade" recipe - stay home and make it. If you want a good, filling breakfast at a reasonable price, you want to come here. I'll be back, for sure. Note: The restaurant closes at 3pm, but the kitchen closes at 2:30pm. read more

Went here for breakfast today, ordered the trifecta. My daughter ordered the tri-athlete. Service was good, the waitress was nice. The hot chocolate was so watered down that even cream couldn't help it. And you think for a three dollar hot chocolate, they would use milk, since everything else here is quality. I don't know if they used milk or not, but it tasted like creamy water. (Not a good taste btw). Just disappointed at the hot chocolate quality, everything else is good. read more

I love this place! It's great for those of you that are on a health kick, paleo, low carb, whatever diet! Not so great for those of you that like French fries and burgers aka my husband hahaha. I came here with him for lunch this past week and I really enjoyed it. I had a Monterey half sandwich with salad (their lunch special) and everything tasted so fresh and I felt reasonably healthy leaving there. Trust, you will not be able to order fries on the side and ruin your diet here. They do have roasted potatoes but mixed greens are the default side for almost everything which is really good. My husband had the roast beef and Havarti sandwich and he said it was "meh". I could tell he didn't like all the mixed greens on it because he picked them all out! (He's not a healthy eater and it's like pulling teeth to get him to eat veggies). I came back today on my own to order an omelet so we'll see how that is. By the sound of the name, I thought this restaurant served only super healthy food. They have a good mix of savory and healthy options. I had the Parma hash (I had my egg done "over easy"). Since this was my "first" visit to your restaurant, I will be as lenient as I can. And considering my meal was less than $10, I must say that I got what I paid for. Now, "watch" and learn to see what you did well and not so well... The Positives... 1) Your restaurant appeared to be very clean and the decor made it very homey like I was having breakfast at Granny Mable's country house at Meadow Stream Farms. 2) Your waitress was very friendly and said she truly enjoyed working in such a fine establishment. Kudos for your low turnover rate! 3) Your menu was the shabby chic, all-natural burlap-esque feel I love. She (as in me) thinks your tractor clip art is "sexy." 4) Your food... Sorry, I have to switch gears... The Negatives 1) I had high hopes for my meal because my friend raved about how good your food was. But when I took the first bite of my fruit salad, which appeared fresh, it tasted like Mowgli had stolen the prickly pear from Baloo but forgot he had it stuffed in his loin cloth for safe keeping from King Louis. It was damn-near rancid-tasting but I didn't want to lose face in front of my dear friend as she was telling me about a very important, personal matter. I simply didn't want her to think my pucker-faced reaction was based on her story, so I choked down the rest. Does rotten fruit make you more regular than fresh fruit? The jury's still out... 2) My egg white wrap tasted like it had been frozen. I know you're probably trying to conform to the social trends to make it seem like Princess Elsa made it, but I am 29 and not amused. And, more importantly, I am not "letting it go." If it was made fresh, which I highly doubt, why in the world did it ooze about 27 oz of water the instant I cut into it...? The only ingredient that could have caused this deluge was the mushroom but the average fungi has about 2.7 oz of water in it. If I wanted some water with my meal, I would have ordered it in a glass... 3) The coffee was sub-par but was digestible. The gripe I have is with the packaged, processed creamer on your tables with a shelf-life that would outlast Taylor Swift's great-great-great grandchildren. I would expect this from Denny's but you serve high-falootin' kale smoothies for goodness sakes. Can you at least offer me some fresh milk? It doesn't even have to be soy or dairy free. I am hoping I just caught you on an "off" day or I just ordered the wrong thing... If not, I will be at iHop down the street... read more
