One of my favorite places for seafood. Iv'e been going here and recommending this place for a few years. I recently had the whole fish (I believe it was lane snapper) and WOW. The fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Wasn't much left after picking it apart. The fried shrimp, scallops, and oysters are also awesome but the fish is a must. Drinks are decent. Their pain killer was great a few years ago but sadly seems either the bartender or the recipe changed. Service is decent. I was mainly disappointed on my last visit. We got there at 8pm (they close at 9) but got turned away. I asked the server if it was possible to stay for service since a group of three left the line as we arrived; it was only two of us but sadly we were declined. This place is an experience for sure. We ate here during our vacation in part due to it's fantastic reviews on Yelp. You wait to order food, but you can grab a self-serve drink while you wait which is nice. The trust and honor system is truly unique and makes it a fantastic experience. We got a poke bowl, grilled shrimp, fish bites for the kids, fries and hushpuppies. Everything was cooked to perfection. They have minimal or no A/C when we went, but all the doors were open and it was seemingly a part of the experience. We love fish hut! We came by several times while we were on vacation and tried a bunch of different things. I stuck with the blueberry jalapeño margarita each time though I loved that. I also tried the fish bites, which were little bites of grouper and flounder. You had the option to have them grilled, blackened or fried. I chose blackened. I also tried the grouper a la carte. Same deal with the grilled, blackened, fried thing. Also got blackened again. You had the option to get a burger or salad, but I just wanted the fish so I didn't choose either. We also tried the shrimp burger, which was great. The shrimp were a good size and we're breaded nicely. Make sure you come early because they're crazy packed at dinner. We came for lunch several times and once for dinner. You order at the counter, then go sit down and they will bring your food to you. You pay at the end after you eat. The beer is on an honor system. Just grab it from the fridge and tell them how many you had at the end. Definitely cannot wait to come back here. read more

Our experience was here was one of the most fun of our entire week! I have a secret to avoid the line, but it wouldn't be a secret anymore if I told you. ;) First off, I'd read about the pain killer, ordered one of those, and when my husband asked about the beer selection, the bartender, Liam, walked him over to show him! He was an awesome bartender, even beyond that first act of kindness. We'd also read about the fried cheese curds, and dear Lord, if you make it to this place, that has to be on your agenda! Fried bites of heaven, and I don't think we'll ever stop talking about them. Hubby had the scallops, which were like butter, and I had the blackened fish tacos with slaw. Wow! Solid seafood and generous portions. We waited in line for 50 minutes to place our order but food arrived quickly after that. It was good but not worth the wait. I had the shrimp tacos and they were very generous with the shrimp, which was appreciated. However the tacos did not have much flavor. I would suggest asking for a side of the pink sauce (remoulade?) they put on the tacos because they were pretty stingy with it. I also had a Caesar salad. The salad and dressing were very good but the croutons were deep fried and I felt a little queasy after eating one. Hubby had fish tacos and cheese curds. Best fish tacos I've ever had. The sauce was on point and there was a ton of fish with a perfect amount of toppings. They also weren't soggy which is hard to get with fish tacos. The fried shrimp were amazing as well and cooked to perfection. We shared the Mac and cheese as a side and it was good but not great. Maybe just a bit much cheese. The fries weren't anything to write home about but were cooked well. The staff was super nice and attentive as well. The atmosphere was great and the noise level wasn't too bad. Every time we drove by here there was a line but decided to stop by early on a Wednesday for dinner. While waiting in line someone comes and takes your drink order and brings while you're waiting in line to order food. Had yummy blueberry jalapeño margarita! Was a little wait but not as long as when we left and saw the line! Then you place order at counter inside and find place to sit. Don't pay til after you eat- they bring tab when they bring your food. Had delicious shrimp burger and guys both had soft shell crab sandwich. All were SO good!! My husband and I visit the Atlantic Beach area once or twice a year. We discovered the Fish Hut Grill on our last visit and it quickly became our favorite place to eat. We visited NC right before the summer season started and were happy that the Fish Hut was open from Thursday to Sunday. We ate here several times during our trip. All of the food is consistently delicious!! Our favorites are the whole fried red snapper, the blackened shrimp, the cheese curds, the wings, and the blueberry jalapeño margaritas. This place has awesome beach vibes, the staff is super friendly and attentive, food and drinks are really good and reasonably priced. Fantastic food and friendly service! Literally the best fish tacos I've ever had. We got them fried and I was impressed at how lightly they were fried. They weren't heavy or greasy at all and super flavorful. The fries were great - we couldn't stop munching on them! I had two different margaritas - the blueberry jalapeño and the tropical habanero. Both were very good but the habanero one packed a punch!!! All in all it was well worth the wait in line! read more

We were in EI for the week and finally stopped in here on our last day. What a waste of a week. Had I known I'd have been here daily. Best fish on the island by a long shot and I don't really like much seafood. I had the tacos with grouper and the Mrs has the shrimp taco. We shared some onion rings and cheese curds. The line was out the door when we arrived but it went quickly. Good took maybe 15-20 minutes to make it to the table. Portions were big but not ridiculous. By the time we left, about 5:00 ish the line was out the door. I see some complaints about a wait but I just didn't see it. I'm sure it can get busy with the quality of food and the friendliness of the staff. We will be back for sure and next time it will be our first stop, not our last. read more

The Fish Hut Grill was my favorite restaurant that we tried during a recent vacation to the Emerald Isle area. I couldn't give it a five stars because non of the staff were wearing face masks. There was a long wait to get in but it was worth it. If you see a long line don't be discouraged because the line will go fast and the food is worth the wait. I ordered the fried scallop sandwich and we shared a small order of cheese curds. Everything was served in little card board baskets. It was busy when we went so we had a to wait a little longer for our food but it was all delicious. The cheese curds were so garlicky and delicious! The cheese almost melted in your mouth. My only compliant about this dining experience was that none of the staff are wearing masks. I'd love to go back sometime after COVID is over or the staff tightens up their policies on face masks. Mask it or casket! There's no reason you can't serve great food AND wear mask at the same time. It's just the times we are living in. read more

Yes, the Blueberry Jalapeno Margarita was fantastic. And the food was great too... My only complaint is that they were out of quite a few menu items. I guess that speaks to how good they are? But bummed I couldn't get what I wanted. I ended up with crab cakes and they were quite tasty, and minimal on the fillers.
