Don't judge a book by its cover because this place is definitely one of those "hole-in-the-wall" spots, but they say those are the best spots to eat! I ordered the chicken wings (5 pcs) with 2 sides and added 2 medium shrimp to taste (I am iffy with seafood). The chicken wings were so crispy and warm, perfectly cooked! The sides were just alright. I opted for fries and mac salad. The fries were good, but were placed under the wings and so when i got back to the office they were soggy :( The mac salad was a disappointment, it is one of those salad bar mac salads definitely not homemade. As for the shrimp, I was pleasantly surprised! On my next visit I will go for the seafood! Try to order ahead, there was a long line during lunch hour and we had to wait quite some time for our food. We tried to order ahead, but the line was busy for about 15 minutes so we decided to order at the counter. All in all for around $12, you should try Fish Land out! read more

Been coming to fish land since they had the location on Compton and Aranbe. This is the best fish, fries and hush puppies I have ever had. Fries are always perfectly crisp and the fish is always grab and fried to perfection. Ask for the homemade pickles they are definitely a treat. I drive all the way from Riverside for the fish. Disgusting. I came here tryin to give the spot a chance. The man at the window was so rude and rushy. I gave him my order and without giving me the total take my card and began processing. I asked the total and he replied sarcastically as though I was suppose to know. I told him it was my first time, and he said oh okay I will make it good. The presentation looked great and plate was packed I was like ok thats a good sign then I took that first bite it was all down hill from there they fish and shrimp have no seasoning at all I was like dam they never heard of seasoning salt or even just salt and pepper? They give you alot if fries but they had no flavor as well it was to the point were I didnt want to finish the food because it didn't taste like anything but I forced myself to eat it because I wasnt raised to throw away food and I dam sure wasnt go let $13 go to waist so I was mad eating it the whole time. I've been coming here for years. I like the fish because it is golden fried not super dark like some places. The hot sauce is excellent and the service is decent too. I like the filet if sole and shrimp which I use get in the #31 combo. Also, I go by my grandma's rule and only get my fish on Fridays and Saturdays. It just seems to be fresher because Friday's are such big fish days that they get their fish delivered in time for the weekend rush. So if you're trying it for the first time go on a Friday or Saturday. Call in your order, it makes things go a lot faster.
