We really tried... my mother wanted me to try them out because she said she went once before and the fish was good. Mom loves homemade onion rings and was excited to see them on the menu. We ordered onion rings, fried catfish plate, and I had blackened catfish dinner. After a few minutes, waitress informed us they had no onion rings. So we ordered fried green tomatoes instead... a few minutes later, we were told they had none. Then she named a few things they did have... we got fried okra. Then she brought our dinner... mine was supposed to have a sauce over it and she told mom she would bring her sauce and condiments as well. We waited a while, ate half my gosh before I finally got sauce. My dinner also came with a side salad, got it a little later, she asked what kind of dressing, I told her, but never got the dressing. Ended up putting salad in go container to take home. Then when it was time to pay, our card was run on someone else's food. They couldn't figure out how to fix it. Also, just to top it off ... we battled flies the whole time we were there... not really their fault, just a nuisance on top of everything else. The food we did get ... my fish had good seasoning, once I finally got sauce it was good. Mom said her fish was good. Nothing to brag about in okra. This place needs help... sigh. If you're hungry for some catfish and your in the area then this is where you should go. I really love the Fish and Shrimp Duo, but I am not impressed by the staff. I've gone there multiple times and I've never had a problem with paying with a large bill. The last time I was there I tried to pay with a 100 bill and they told me they had no change, and if I wanted my order I needed to go get change. If you are running a business you should never tell a customer to go get change, you should get someone and go get it because that is not a customers fault. I was expecting this place to be good since the reviews on here where decent. However, the 'generous' 5 piece catfish dinner was not good. Everything was soggy like it wasn't finished cooking. The fries were soggy, the catfish was plain and needed to be cooked more, the hush puppies were greasy when you bit into them. This meal was definitely not 'generous'. The catfish pieces were smaller that your average sized chicken strips. The salad that came with the meal was bad also. The vegetables were not even washed! There was a sticker still on my tomatoes and I had to wash them myself before eating! For the price I would say it's better just to go to Splendora Cafe. There catfish is MUCH better. Not only is it tastier, but the pieces are actually 'generous'. I would not recommended Fish Tales to anyone I know. read more

the catfish is incredible, best I have ever had in a restaurant,, the breading is very light, fish white and flaky. Wow....prices excellent, my husband loved the fried shrimp and the hushpuppies are delicious. Was really hoping good things for this one, I have heard good things about the Cleveland location and this one was 5 minutes down the road from me. There were not to many customers during my visit ,maybe 3 tables. We ordered our food within 5 minutes of sitting down and 45 min later still had no food. I noticed that the people that had come in after us were almost finished eating their food so i got up to look around for my waitress. I finally spotter her outside near the road where they have a trailer for craw fish. She was just standing out there talking to the guy coking the craw fish. I then went to the Cashier and said we need to get our food to go my 2 year old had enough of waiting and we were all hungry. She goes inside the kitchen where i can hear her yelling at people. saying things like "Why is this food just sitting here?" "why didn't she ever bring it out, what is she thinking!". At this point i was getting pretty angry. We paid for our food and took it home only to have to pop it in the microwave. I ended up giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because the fish and shrimp was actually quite good. I'm up in there air about whether or not i will ever go back , but if i do i think it will just be to get food to go. read more

Ordered the fish regular dinners, three of them! and they were all great. Some of the best fish Ive had in years. Their web site is way behind on current prices and they are still advertising a coupon on their web site that has been expired since 2012 so this needs some work and is part why it didnt get higher stars...If you advertise one price and coupon but get to the site and its another...not good practice there. We forgot to get desert so we drove all the way back for desert and although one desert was a nice large piece the other two were less than half of what you would get other places so that was a disappointment. We ordered 3 diff deserts and only the coconut creme pie was a nice portion. My recommendation would be order the fish dinner but dont order desert as that is where they cut you way back. The fish terrific!!! hush puppies okay and sweet and love the fried green beans. So I cut a star for the short small deserts and the bad outdated advertisement on their web site. All prices have increased and the coupon is expired. read more
