I went to Fish Tails to try their fried fish. I ordered the Duo which was Catfish, Shrimp and fries. I do not believe what I received was catfish, maybe sway?? But I didn't really like it. A nice little find in New Caney..this review is based solely on personal preferences. The food was good and tasteful..(could of used a bit more seasoning. (Personal prefrence) We had the fish, fried green tomatoes and onion rings. I will ask for it to be fried extra crispy next time (personal preference). The coleslaw was a little juicy (runny) for my taste. (Again personal preference).. customer service was great. Definitely will go back again and try some other items on the menu. read more

Cleveland location- staff is always super friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious. New Caney- This location is always short staffed. We waited forever to order then when we finally did get to order they were out of 3 of the 4 things we ordered. When they finally brought our food out it was cold. Ok, let's just say I was apprehensive to try this place due to the old reviews. BOY was that a mistake!!! The dining area was very welcoming and the staff was very friendly. The food was very good, came out hot and fresh and man there is a lot of it. This was our first time here and was not sure, so we ordered a little of everything we wanted to try. Ok.... Lets start with the help. They were very courteous. The little helper that was there was a cutie! The food...I ate the grilled catfish tacos. They were good EXCEPT it was swai and not catfish. We finally decided to give this place a shot regardless of past bad reviews. We both agreed if we walked in and it was dirty or smelled dirty we would turn around and leave. I am so glad we went in. The place was spotless and it smelled really good, ,no heavy old grease smell at all. The service was fantastic and we were feeling pretty positive at this point so we started with the fried green tomatoes. Oh my goodness they were done perfectly and such a crazy amount. No way could we even eat half of it! Then we both had the fried catfish and shrimp with okra, fries and onion rings. Everything was super hot and cooked very well. The onion rings are a must!!!!! The fish were smaller nuggets and fried crisp and the hushpuppies were delicious with corn in them. I was amazed at the amount of food and we realized we had enough for at least 2 more meals. I was going to pass on dessert but peach cobbler is really hard to say no to so we got some to go and wow!!! Do yourself a huge favor and get the cobbler. It was amazing, peaches were cooked perfect and the perfect amount of cinnamon. I had it for breakfast the next morning and I want to go back for more! So back to those bad reviews many years ago.....I don't know what happened back then but whatever it was it has been fixed and the new management is doing an amazing job. Ate there and wasn't impressed. My wife ordered the surf and turf specifying the steak cooked medium. The steak came out like shoe leather. The excuse was something like the chef quit or they had get different steaks from a different place. If that was the case rand they werent happy serving them, they shouldn't have served it. Found out later that the "catfish" they advertise isn't actually AMERICAN catfish. Its fish called swai that is called "vietnamese catfish," but is in no way related to the catfish we think of. We'll never eat there again or any even where they are participating. read more

The thing i hate is the way the place is ran by the staff. I usually like to call in my order for pick up during lunch time. My 2 sons and I just moved to Splendora from Arizona and decided to unpacking and eat out. We stopped in this restaurant to eat. The lady owner who waited on us was a wonderful breath of sunshine and friendship and gave us some history of the area. And the food was cooked to perfection. We had fish, shrimp, and chicken - all done just right. The fried green tomatoes were made a bit differently than I've had in TN and AR, but they tasted good. After being in contact with him since April this man has been nothing but unprofessional and unorganized. If you want to be told different prices and bullshit about fish prices going up 29% due to the politics involved with the trade wars by all means give this man your business. After assuring me we were all set to go and telling me he would be sending over details the following day he didn't even bother to follow up. Instead I had to contact him to be told that he was booked for the day I needed. I proceeded to call the restaurant not knowing who the owner actually was to inform them of how unprofessional Scott had been,only to be told he was the owner. Wow!! I spoke to a lady who was the manager of the catering and she was full of it too. She promised to make two phone calls and call me back and I never heard back from her. When I got there I waited in line for another 10 minutes before I reached the counter and the guy told us to step to the side so he could help the lady that just walked in, I did . After he helped her I told him I placed an order over the phone he asked me to step aside again so he could help the next lady in line after us, with an attitude this time so I refused and he asked what my order was in a annoyed tone,at this point I lost my taste for fish tales and thanked him for his help and left. Service is not good at all. All the servers seem very inexperienced and untrained. It took about 10 minutes to pay our bill. I got the catfish dinner. It is a good amount but is so tough to eat. The catfish has barely any flavor and has more fried coating than actual fish. Couldn't get through it. We really tried... my mother wanted me to try them out because she said she went once before and the fish was good. Mom loves homemade onion rings and was excited to see them on the menu. We ordered onion rings, fried catfish plate, and I had blackened catfish dinner. After a few minutes, waitress informed us they had no onion rings. So we ordered fried green tomatoes instead... a few minutes later, we were told they had none. Then she named a few things they did have... we got fried okra. Then she brought our dinner... mine was supposed to have a sauce over it and she told mom she would bring her sauce and condiments as well. We waited a while, ate half my gosh before I finally got sauce. My dinner also came with a side salad, got it a little later, she asked what kind of dressing, I told her, but never got the dressing. Ended up putting salad in go container to take home. Then when it was time to pay, our card was run on someone else's food. They couldn't figure out how to fix it. Also, just to top it off ... we battled flies the whole time we were there... not really their fault, just a nuisance on top of everything else. The food we did get ... my fish had good seasoning, once I finally got sauce it was good. Mom said her fish was good. Nothing to brag about in okra. This place needs help... sigh.
