The staff was super nice and friendly, and prices were pretty good. If you are looking for trolling or fly fishing gear, great selection. Anything outside of that it is extremely lacking. Visiting Salt Lake from Missouri, and brought my fly rod along. Stopped in here to see what rivers, flies, etc. they would recommend to an out-of-towner. The staff (especially Nate) was very helpful and gave me some great tips. They even gave me direct numbers to call just in case I wasn't having luck...they genuinely wanted to put me on fish. Well her we go again on this worthless place they call a fishing outfitter! I'm doing this review for a friend that was discriminated for being a woman! This good friend of mine went to Fish Tech before the holidays around the 20th or 21st she's not for sure that's how these idiots made her feel when she was there! I wish she would have asked me first about this place and then she wouldn't have been treated like @^%$! Anyway she went there for some list items for Christmas and she found some items because there not helpful at all before she learned that when she tried to ask this lazy/mumble talk fat kid(I know which one he is)! All she asked him if they had this make/model/length/action spinning rod and his reply was" Why would you think we have that In stock"! Just like that! And her reply was "your a fishing outfitter right" And his "That's not any reason we would have that In stock and why would you want that one anyway" So at that point more was said but she put the other items back and left the store. These people are just that arrogant towards none family/business partners and friend anyone else you don't exist at all in this place! I can't see how they are still In the customer service retail business If they can still treat people like this!? It just seems they want to sell what they like not what you want! There not at all right about anything fishing ever they just need to sell all that garbage nick nacks they have for a cabin are a cabin theme café! I'm an avid fisherman and the experience I had with them I would rather go to Sportsman's warehouse/Cabelas/Basspro or Walmart before these %$%^^&&* ever again! We all miss Angler's Inn every day These people were classy! Beware of Fish tech they don't want your business if your not family/friends/business partners or old friends talking around the table by the line re-spooler machine! Came here after my mother in law told me about it. I mostly fish for bass and assumed the store would be filled with mostly fly fishing stuff... and a lot of the store is. However the bass/walleye part of the store was awesome. The selection was impressive and they had a bunch of lures you can't find in the big box stores. I'll definitely stop in again next time I'm passing through this way. read more

I am somewhat a known entity at this shop. That said, they leave me alone until I ask and when I ask they help me for as long as it takes. Occasionally one on one for more than a half hour. I am sure they would take longer if I wanted. I get equal help from the owner as I do from other employees who do not know me. Just ask for help. read more

Wow, I have been working in the customer service industry for 6 years and hate being treated poorly in an establishment that I am excited to check out for the first time. After spending a few minutes on the phone with a gentleman that was very happy to help me, I rushed into the store to find some fishing waders and boots. My boyfriend and I were not greeted at the door, but stared down by a bunch of the staff members who seemed too consumed in their conversations with fellow employees and friends. We wandered around for a few minutes and finally found the waders ourselves. I kept making eye contact with each employee (there were more than a few) who were quick to look away and ignore my hand waving .... trying to signal for some help. I went on to try each pair of waders (clearly looking to buy a pair right then and there), taking my time and hoping that someone would ask us if we needed any assistance/help. We wandered around for 20 minutes un-helped, un-noticed, and completely avoided. Thanks for nothing, your customer service could have gotten you a few more clients and great referrals. read more

And if you're open to a good story or two, well, they've got a few of them as well. The staff is knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The store is stocked with just about anything and everything you might need, whether you're a fly fisher or a bait caster. From stream to deep lake equipment, if they don't have it, you probably don't need it. read more

Fish Tech is amazing, and the staff is down to earth, and genuine in the dealings with you as a customer. You are treated more as their fishing partner, that a revenue stream. Great selection of items, which is complemented by their great knowledge of the areas and conditions. They are always willing to answer any questions you have and if they don't know they will ask everyone else in the store if need be. I'm not surprised by the positive or negative reviews. The negative reviews come mostly from people like me who don't have a connection with any Fish Tech employees or local guides that frequent this place. The positive reviews are mostly from professional or semi-professional fly fisherman who have connections with the employees, some of whose names I recognize in the reviews. Why is this? From my experience, you only get treated well here if you have something that benefits them, apart from your purchases (and not even your purchases seem to matter to them unless they are large). I have been treated very rudely on more than one occasion by the owners when my purchases didn't seem to be enough. One of the times they even refused to let me use a credit card. Sorry, but you either accept credit cards or you don't. You don't get to pick and choose with each customer. I am all about supporting local businesses. My family owns and operates a well-known independent pharmacy within a few miles of Fish Tech. All that I can say is that they are lucky that there isn't as much competition with local fly shops in their area as there is with pharmacy. They would have been gone years ago. It's sad that I can get much better customer service at Sportsman's Warehouse where the employees have much less to benefit from my insignificant purchases than Fish Tech does. The only reason I have given two stars is because some of the employees have been nice to talk to. If I were rating the ownership alone, definite one star. read more
