The Deck Awning Company is great...when they want your money. Impossible when you need service…read more We hired The Deck Awning Company to install a Sonesta retractable awning for nearly $5,000. At the time, they were responsive, polite, and easy to work with which, in hindsight, makes sense because they were trying to secure a $5,000 job. Less than three years later, one of the awning arms developed a problem, and that's when the experience completely changed. For over three months, I've been trying to get them to come out and look at the awning. Instead of service, I've gotten multiple excuses, delays, and the general runaround. Phone calls and email requests frustratingly lead nowhere, and they have consistently shown zero urgency or accountability now that the job is apparently no longer profitable. To make matters worse, because it's a Sonesta awning, many other companies won't work on repairs unless they were the original installer (I would know, I was forced to contact many, to no avail). That effectively leaves you stuck with the company that installed it and in this case, a company that apparently has no interest in servicing its own work once the initial installation is completed. This business seems very happy to take thousands of dollars for installation, but when it comes to supporting their own product afterward, they magically disappear. Avoid this company entirely. If you're considering an awning installation, take your business to a company that actually stands behind its work and values customers beyond only the initial payment.

I was able to replace the batteries in sensor, and the issue is fixed. I will of course use them in the future. Not only for their expertise, but for their honest and professional advice. They could have easily said: " we need to come out and fix it" I would have done that. Integrity and great communication is the cornerstone of any company. The Deck and Awning Company's mantra. How refreshing. Particularly because the previous day I was totally scammed by a vent cleaning service who charged me double than market rate, but not telling me it would be more until they were at my house. Total scam. So - my experience today with Nick and Dave, restored my faith in human nature!!! I so very highly recommend them. Don't look ANY further. Rhonda J

Last time I called no one answered the phone.. I know they are very expensive and I was willing to pay, but not now because they are not dependable and I bet if I had a problem after they installed my awnings, they would probably never show up.. Now I do not want them to come to do my job. I will get someone else who is dependable or at least courteous enough to get back to you.. If you want awnings and you want them done in a reasonable amount of time, do not contact these people. Apparently they're making a ton of money on other projects and they really do not need your Business. Their prices are outrageous..

They were very responsive and would call/text us with any questions throughout the day and had no issues meeting up with us evenings or weekends to walk through things. Along with dealing with a difficult old house, they also did some framing and adjusting to fit bigger windows and to modify the existing openings and their work turned out great! No drafts, no cold air, and a beautiful finished look. We saw some older comments where there were some different complaints, but it seems they've made some changes and in 2022 I would absolutely recommend them!

I did my research online for an awning…read moreafter building a deck on the back of the house this past summer and decided we needed an awning. I found Awnings by Clark and looked through the website and liked what I saw and read and reached out to them. They returned my call a few days later (I called on a weekend) I set up a consultation at home and the sales agent showed up on time and was very professional and answered all of my questions with a satisfactory answer and explanations. He showed me awnings color samples and we selected the frame color and awning color and went from there. He explained that it takes about 8-10 weeks to make it and that they would call to set up the installation date around that time. Well temper actually ended up being quicker than the 8-10 weeks called to set a date for install. The woman setting my appointment explained it would take 3-4 hours to install and that if the day of installation turned out to be a bad weather day they would need to move it. That is completely understandable. My install day came and they ended up showing up earlier than my scheduled appointment and called to ask if it would be okay which I said it was but I needed an hour to get home from work and asked if they could grab lunch and kill some time, they said they could and they will see me soon. The installation crew showed up and were professional and courteous and explained the process of hanging the awning from the house and as they got it set up they would let know so they could ask for my input. Once they were completely finished they showed me how to use the Manuel crank to bring the awning in and out should the power fail, they showed me the open and close remote control and how to change the batteries on the wind sensor should the batteries die and how the awning will act if the batteries are dead. From start to finish the process was stress free and handled professionally and quickly. The awning we had installed was a motorized retractable awning with remote and opens to cover a 14' X 18'6" area. We paid for the optional wind sensor that detects winds that get up to 20 MPH and will retract itself so the wind won't damage it. The price tag at first seemed steep but after seeing it, using the remote and seeing the amount of sun it blocks I am extremely pleased with it and believe it is worth every penny.

Nothing was ever fixed, and eventually we had another contractor take it because it was starting to collapse from the weather and became a safety hazard. Very unprofessional and unreliable company. I thought it would hang down longer like my previous one, allowing for more coverage over my front porch area. Instead, it's leaving parts of the seating exposed to the sun. I really hoped this awning cover would add a nice touch to my outdoor space and provide the shade I need during the hot months. Instead, I find myself feeling disappointed every time I look at it. I did reach out to customer service to discuss my concerns and see if there's a way to resolve these issues. That call was NOT productive and the gentleman was a bit rude and lacked empathy. Not sure if I can reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement, or is find a way to modify the installation to improve the situation? Either way, I'm determined to find a solution that will make my outdoor space more enjoyable.

We contracted Long Fence to do an install of a new fence and a repair of an old one. The installation and repair went smoothly and we are happy with the results. Dealing with the company after words, however, has been a huge pain. Upon completion of the job, the installers didn't provide us with an invoice, but instead gave us four envelopes with hand written amounts on them and nothing else. They didn't speak English very well, so we weren't able to get an explanation on what we were supposed to do with these so we called the Long Fence office to settle up the remainder of what was owed after our deposit. They gave us an amount to pay and we payed over the phone. This amount plus the deposit didn't add up to the quote that they gave us, but they said that our bill was all settled up, so rock on. About two weeks later I started receiving calls saying that we owed more money. I stated that we were told that our account was settled, but the person on the phone said that we still owed more. I asked for an invoice showing how much we owed (I'm not in the habit of paying large sums of money to someone over the phone just because they said so). They said that they'd get an invoice to us and ended the call. To this date, I've never received an invoice. For the last six weeks, the same person calls asking for payment, and every time I ask for an invoice detailing the original amount, the amount we've already payed, and the balance remaining. I even ask them if they have my correct email address, and they say that they do and end the call. We've called the Long Fence office multiple times trying to resolve this, and are constantly told that someone will look into it. The only return contact we receive is the same person asking for payment every week.
