I have an illnesses which causes me to vomit frequently, sometimes with no warning. I had an episode while in the Martin Dentistry office some time ago. It's not as though they didn't know or hadn't seen it. However, after being late to an appointment which was rescheduled I was ridiculed. Call me silly but I didn't want to uncontrollably vomit all over the dentist or hygienist. Frankly, it's a health risk. I could've easily choked on my vomit during treatment. You can be the best dentist but with an unprofessional, patient facing staff you will eventually lose business. Side note, somehow the office suppressed my Google review. Now I consider them unreliable.

So let's all just be real with ourselves, no one likes the dentist. I have found a few over the…read moreyears that I've liked aspects of my visit but not the whole visit. HOWEVER, I will say that this is the first time from start to finish. I changed dentist due to my work and location so this past winter I was looking for a new dentist. I asked a co worker of mine and she recommended this dentist. I did my own research and decided to give it a whirl. The front office staff was great. And my hygienist was knowledgable, talked me through everything and even made a note in my chart about preferences much appreciated. Additionally, they do provide fluoride for their adult patients. This is crucial and I've been getting this ever since I've gone to the dentist. Meeting the dentist was great, she was personable and shared her advice with me about my concerns. She did not force me into any decisions and said it was my choice but she would air on the side of conservative treatment. Overall, it was a great experience and honestly I am not dreading my next appointment.

Water kept collecting at back of my throat, the suction device positioned near my uvula and continuously fired my gag reflex. I felt as if I were choking and needing to vomit at the same time. Horrible sensation. I am fearful to get any type of a procedure here if a cleaning was so uncomfortable. My 23 yo daughter's experience was a bit odd. When the dentist asked what my daughter did for a living, she told dentist she works at Harrah's as a table-dealer. Dentist said "Whatever makes you happy". Weirdly judgmental statement. I sat in his chair for a procedure, and he told me he could't do the procedure because my teeth need to be cleaned first, and he doesn't have time to do that. He or his staff could've mentioned this when we scheduled the appointment, but they did not. I was disappointed I'd have to make a second trip, but I was easy going about it. "Fair enough. Let's get me scheduled for a cleaning, and then we'll reschedule the procedure no problem." Then, he told me he needs to charge me for the visit when literally all he did was tell me I needed a cleaning. I politely raised the question to the staff as I was checking out. "I'm confused. Is it your policy to charge people when you did no procedure and did no cleaning? I was in the chair for approximately one minute." They explained that it was their policy. I paid the bill and left. A few days later I receive a letter from him in the mail. He asked me not to come back and he called me a liar. I was flabbergasted. I didn't agree with his practice of charging a fee for no work being done, but I was never rude to him or his staff. I will not be going back. You won't have to ask me twice. There are much better options nearby by professional, courteous dentists. Stay away from Walker!

It was my first time, and I was treated like a VIP. The team was incredibly efficient and was able to provide my cleaning effectively and easily. There were extra touches through the cleaning that made it feel more like a VIP experience than a standard visit to the office. Their pricing was comparable to the other places I had checked out, so the value and pricing were in line. I take that back, the value was greater than the pricing! My Hygienist, Cydney, was friendly and professional. I'm so thankful that I found Dr. Holt and her team. They are super, super nice and incredibly humane - meaning they aren't judgemental and they're upfront with costs. They also give it to you straight, and/or take the time to explain what's going on and answer questions. In my previous experience, I felt like I was just told what was done or what needed to be done and told to come back. But with Dr. Holt and her team, I feel like I was a part of the conversation and had a say in everything - and that's huge when it comes to any kind of medical or dental care.

I've always had weird interactions with the dental hygienists! One time, there were two hygienists/assistants in the room cleaning my teeth & they were talking about their kids/family problems during my cleaning as if I wasn't there. Another time, I had to get update x-rays but the hygienist kept having to retake them because she kept missing the right shot. And this previous time, I asked the hygienist to explain what she was doing & she gave a brief general overview, then discussed all the Christmas presents she bought for her family. She took her hands out of my mouth each time she talked, so I feel like the appointment took longer than normal haha. Everyone has been pretty nice, but I really do just want to know what exactly they are doing to my teeth.

Several issues. 1…read more Insurance was not verified prior to appointment (I'm partly to blame - I've been with the same dentist for 30 years and didn't know proper procedure). The hygienist told me things would be covered, that simply were not. Come to find out the dentistry is not in my network. I now have a bill of $400 for a teeth cleaning and x-rays. No adjustments from them - no negotiations, but they do offer a payment plan. :) 2. They offer a free whitening for new patients. Essentially they put three rounds of gel whitener on your teeth in an hour and half long appointment. It's a stronger strength than what you would get for home but it is not a true whitening treatment. My teeth are no whiter than they were before. VERY disappointing. 3. The building wasn't in good condition and very out dated. The elevator got stuck upon my first arrival. The room I was in for the cleaning had black dust on the AC vent that you look at when laid back in the chair. The ceiling tiles are old and dingy. The floors were dirty as well as the baseboards near the floor. The only reason I went back to the office was for the free cleaning (at that point I hadn't seen the $400 bill). 4. I needed a little bonding on my front tooth, very small area. The pricing was expensive (the dentist I had been going to for 30 years would do it at no costs to build and keep relationships). I ended up asking to just had a small area sanded so we didn't have to keep worrying about the bonding. First thing from the dentist, "that will cost you". No other questions, no other options offered. That was her only comment. 5. It seemed that everyone was trying to sell something. I've already booked my 6 months cleaning at my old dentist. They are wonderful and the ONLY reason I went to a new dentistry was to be closer to home.

We went in thinking we would only get a consultation and to our surprise they looked at the tooth, took an extra, explained in detail what was going on in my daughter's mouth and set her up to have that painful tooth extracted that day. I think the whole ordeal last less then 3 hours from our time there to the time we left. I loved how detailed their explanation was. The doctor was excellent and so was the dental hygienist that worked with him...she was excellent. I would love to go back to them to get the rest of her wisdom teeth extracted but the new dentist wouldn't give us a referral.

I have screenshots of my call logs to prove this system. When they do finally answer, they're rude. After weeks of expecting to book, they finally get me on the schedule another month out. Another month of discomfort. I scheduled an appointment, received no confirmation. Called back (3x per the above system) and got a hold of them, still rude, and they said confirmation would be sent closer to the date. Why not send one at time of booking? The confirmation finally came from a bulk number with no identifying information in the entry. I mistook it for spam, and that's partially on me. It was only sent via text and I was expecting email. Regardless, I showed up at the wrong office for my appointment. Between not returning calls, not answering incoming calls, not sharing bookings with patients, and rude staff; I'll trust other professionals with this type of highly sensitive work.
