Cod was light and flaky, salmon was rich and flavorful, and the fries had that perfect hand-cut vibe. I got tartar sauce fry sauce and ketchup. Portioned big with the price, I'm full! Service was really friendly and you can tell it's made fresh cause it took about 15 minutes but totally worth it when everything came out hot and crispy. Very basic place, but the food was VERY GOOD. My wife said the lobster roll was very good, and I had the yankee combo because I wanted to try the salmon. I didn't really care for it, so I will stick to the cod or halibut next time, but yeah, I agree with all the other reviewers, very amazing fish and chips. They are crispy, light, flaky. The fish is fresh, the breading just the right thickness and the tartar sauce and fry sauce appear and taste homemade. Service is friendly, yet usually slower than expected, but the end result is worth the wait. My preferred order is two pieces of cod, chips and copious amounts of malt vinega. The only way it could be better is if we'd just stepped off the train after watching Man City crush Everton. FishOn is a quality chippy and once you try it, you'll be hooked. Came here for lunch. Plenty of parking available. We were seated right away in the small dining room with only one other table occupied. Staff was friendly enough. We ordered & then waited. And waited some more. We waited a long time. Staff checked on us like once or twice. Our food did come out hot & made to order. The lobster roll was fairly basic, but I appreciated the meat being fresh and fluffy. Fries were nothing to write home about. Fish and chips were a hearty portion for the money & my husband enjoyed them. After we finished we waited some more. No one came for quite some time to check on us. I finally went to the kitchen and all the staff was outside enjoying coffee & a smoke. After waiting awkwardly in the kitchen doorway for someone to notice me, I interrupted their conversation & asked for a to-go box & the check. They asked me to go back to my table & they would be out with those things shortly. They did come out after a few minutes. We packed our leftovers up, paid the bill, & left. FishOn was a complete surprise to me! A small restaurant in the back of an older strip mall... and it has some of the BEST fish and chips I've had. This is comparable to eating on a pier! A welcome addition to the valley as a fish n chips shop is scarce. The original food truck mainly services the Ogden area, having the restaurant in this central location is a wise move. It's an interesting space as it's setup as a full service dining experience but it feels like fast casual would be more appropriate. Perhaps if they expand the menu it will make sense. The basic cod and fries I had were decent and just what I was expecting. For future visits, I'd like to try the keto friendly fish and perhaps the salmon. Maybe they'll change my opinion on using salmon versus cod or halibut for frying. Also intriguing is the brisket sandwich out of left field as an offering. First off, this place is hard to find. It is hidden on the south side of Ivy Place. So far, it didn't start off well when there was no one at the door and it says "Please wait to be seated." We went to look for someone and they just sit anywhere. The server passed us several times before asking us what we wanted to drink and get us a menu. I ordered the two piece fish and chips for $13.95. The three piece was two dollars more and was a better deal but I just wasn't that hungry. I also ordered the coleslaw which we heard was really good. They brought out the coleslaw first. The portion was a good size. My first impression was that there was too much mayonnaise on it. It is in the tart side but overall, it has a really good flavor. Not too sweet. The fish was very flaky. I the pieces were firm and held up well when you dipped them into the tater sauce. The breading was perfect and not as oily as I thought it would be. The bonus was that we got a small extra piece of cod. The fries have a nice crunchy coating which I love. I had a little more room so I ordered a bowl of clam chowder. One the first spoonful of clam chowder, it tasted burned. I thought it was a bad spoonful but no, it was burned. I came here for a lunch one day. It was a quiet little place and a little chilly. The area was very clean and the waiter who helped was very nice. I do not feel like it is a good spot for a business because it was a little difficult to find but they have such great food! I can't even put into words how great the food was. I haven't had the pleasure of trying out the food truck but I would be curious to see if the food quality matches up the restaurant. The restaurant is tucked in the corner of an old shopping center in Millcreek. Fish and Chips (Cod) $15.95 - This dish comes with 3 pieces of hand battered cod. (Mine came with 4 small cod pieces) The restaurant uses rice bran oil to fry up their fish and fries. The crispy batter is light and isn't too greasy. The dish comes with a side of tartar and fry sauce. I don't believe the tartar sauce is made in house. It would be a great opportunity for them to make the sauce onsite. Clam Chowder $4.95 - The New England style soup was meaty and quite hearty. Most restaurants make clam chowder too thick and floury but FishOn's version is light. There isn't any floury aftertaste and the texture is spot on. Overall, FishOn Bistro would be a great spot to fulfill your fish and chips cravings. My only recommendation is to provide better takeout packaging and proper training to the staff. While I was dining at the restaurant, I observed two different customers who had ordered fish and chips for takeout. The staff handed the customers overstuffed boxes with no bags. Generous portions are great for customers, but there needs to be better takeout packaging. One of the customers complained and said that the box will likely burst open and the food will spill out all over their car during transit. The staff member should have anticipated the customer's concerns and properly packaged the food (e.g., separate the fish and chips into two boxes instead of stuffing them into one). I use to live in NZ so fish & chips is definitely a staple. I've been looking for a f&c spot for a while and stumbled upon this place from tiktok and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered their salmon & brisket sandwiches and he killed both! I order the yankee (salmon & cod), and it was so fresh, crispy but still light. They give you a generous amount of chips that are thick but so crispy as well. The cook and server (pretty sure he was the manager) were so nice and checked on us a few times to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed anything. The food here is pretty good. They offer cod and salmon, and a combo plate called the "Yankee". The fish is freshly made, and the chips are good as well. Meals are served in plastic baskets. The service is a different matter. I have been here four times in the past year, and every single time the service has been slow. Last time I went, it was a good ten minutes between asking for my bill and getting it.
