This is my updated review from Sept 2021, and yes -- I'm still upset about this place. Zero stars if possible. One star only because the space is cute; everything else was a disaster. We arrived for our 12:45 reservation and checked in on time. No greeting. The blonde hostess said there'd be a 10-20 minute wait. Fine. When I checked again, the brunette hostess claimed we "weren't on the list," even though we had a confirmed reservation. After some back‑and‑forth, she suddenly found it and told us to come back in five minutes. We were finally seated, then ignored for 20 minutes with no water, no greeting, nothing. The blonde eventually took our order, apologized, and said the brunette "didn't know we were there," even though she was the one who sat us. She offered a $10 gift card we never received. Two dishes we ordered were unavailable -- and we only found out after waiting another 20-30 minutes and watching tables seated after us get their food first. No manager was available, just a "server assistant" who couldn't do much. By the time we left, it was 2:00 PM. We'd been there over an hour with no food and nonstop confusion. A nearby table mentioned slow service too, so clearly this wasn't just us. We were very pleased with our experience here! It's been a while since we've tried a new brunch restaurant and actually been happy with our food. We had a reservation for 11 a.m. on a Sunday, but when we arrived it wasn't very busy, so we probably would've been fine without one. It did start filling up around 11:15, though. Our waiter was very friendly and did a great job. The ambiance is so cute with all the greenery throughout the restaurant, and it's currently decorated for Christmas! We ordered the French toast and the chicken biscuits, and both were soooo good! The only complaint I have (if I'm being picky) is that I wish the syrup for the French toast was warmed up. Dog friendly restaurant! I got the shrimp and grits and I loved it!! Super tasty and hearty. Perfect portion after a long hike. My husband got the bavette steak and eggs. Went to the porch for a nice celebratory meal. We were very happy with our meal. Started with cocktails and appetizers. Sage 75 and Hemingway highball. Both were very tasty. we got the cornbread, the pickle jar and the Brussels sprouts. Corn bread was ok. The other two were great. The Brussels sprouts had a sherry cream sauce that I was skeptical of, but they turned out to be the biggest hit. Then we had dinner, meatloaf, steak, stroganoff, and fried chicken. The meat loaf was super. Moist, flavorful, served with a tomato balsamic glaze. The stroganoff was not as good as I'd hoped. The sauce was not as thick as I like for stroganoff. We have enjoyed the Porch for years. I gave a three star review almost six years ago and wish I had come back to review again as their service and food improved exponentially over time. It improved so much that it was clear at our recent dining experience it is under new ownership. Here are my thoughts, start to finish. 7pm Sunday evening reservation. Brought a bottle of red wine - server did not know how to manage it and left it on the table for 20 minutes until we asked again. She came back with the bottle uncorked in a bucket of ice. I know she was just trying to be kind - I share because it is representative of lack of service training. Ordered popcorn chicken. Previous menu had sriracha chicken. It tastes the same but is literally the size of popcorn now... not very easy to eat with a fork. Porch burger - not as good as before. The bun is most notable which was scorched. Fried chicken was really good, the sides of pasta and potatoes were also tasty. Porch salads (+ chicken) - I recommend skipping the little bits of dry chicken and enjoy the salad. The vinaigrette is nice. Porch lemonade used to be so good. There was not any alcohol in it this round. There was no alcohol in the whiskey sour. (It's not a low alcohol content - Utah thing - there was literally no alcohol.) We were pressed to order entrees before we had even started the appetizer. We were still in the middle of entrees when we were asked to close our check because they close at 8pm. I recommend not taking a 7pm reservation if everyone must depart within one hour. Staff was very nice and attentive they just need to be trained on timing and wine service if Porch is going to maintain a reputation superior than Applebees. read more

Porch is more of a casual dining experience.... so I didn't think we would need to make dinner reservations, but boy I'm sure glad we did. This place is Busy. Small dining area with an open kitchen. We were greeted right away. Drinks first. Wine for me, Italian cream soda for the rest. Their chardonnay is just ok, but better than a lot of places I've had wine at lately. Even with a wobbly table and a loud crowded dining area the experience and food was really really good. We ordered the Spiked (virgin) Watermelon, Iron Skillet Cornbread, Grilled Bavette Steak, Penne & Salmon, and Filet of Salmon. I ordered the Grilled Bavette Steak for $33.00 and was expecting a piece of steak not pieces of beef (like beef cubes) it was tasty, but not for this price. Most of my plate was covered in mashed potatoes. After we were almost done I said oh I forgot to check in with yelp. When I did a coupon for a free Banana Pudding popped up. Wow that's a cool perk. There were two of us elite members that checked in and the coupon popped up on both check in's. When we showed to coupon to our waitress she said we could only use one coupon. We thought this was crazy as no where on the coupon does it say if there are two or more yelpers checking in that only one of you will get the free Pudding. Ugh ok I guess? A few minutes later she came back and said her manager said we could use both check in coupons. The Banana Puddin' Jar was not worth $7 each it was tasty enough, but for the small amount it's a No for future visits. The prices are on the expensive side, but it's a fun atmosphere (but very loud) and crowded, and the food is really tasty. A nice little date night place for sure. It's close to the daybreak trail you could walk after dinner to get to know your date better, unless you like talking at a high volume over dinner. I am from the south, so had to try the porch. This restaurant is located in a cute small town area. Around houses and a cute farmers market that is available on Saturday. The restaurant is big and very spacious. I especially like watching families and dogs walk by while we sit down. The server was great and explained the menu well. I ordered the breakfast plate and a banana pudding. The food was plated nicely and the coffee was strong. The food was good, however, the grits and the biscuits were not my favorites. I love grits being from the south and the texture was off here. The banana budding hands down was one of the best I have had. So fresh. I will be back. Visiting Day Break and eating at Porch was on the recommended list of things to do. Despite the insane wind that greeted us as soon as we got out of the car, the restaurant looked darling from outside and welcoming immediately upon walking in. We were seated by the front windows with a great view of the area. Our party of 4 bless busy chatting and looking at the variety of breakfast options, discussing the many menu items that sounded fabulous when the waitress tried to pressure us to make a selection. We let her know we needed more time and she seemed irritated. Enough so that we all noticed her cold reaction and abruptness with us. It was off putting. We ended up making our choices just in time for her return to our table. We had the Porch breakfast (2), the veggie scramble, the beet and arugula salad and the Banana Johnny Cake. Everyone loved what they ordered. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The freshness of the food was fantastic and the portions were plentiful. Prices were exceptional for the quality of the food. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the waitress. When I return to Day Break and eat at the Porch again, I will be sure to request a table with another server. read more

Daybreak is pretty adorable, and the patio seating option at Porch puts you right in the heart of it. Nothing that we ordered was bad, but some things left a lot to be desired... like the watermelon with the bourbon glaze dish - seriously lacking in flavor. It just tasted like regular old watermelon. And the London broil bruschetta was tough as heck and not pleasant to eat - but at least it had flavor. The tuna nachos were yummy! But the REAL standouts we're the bourbon sriracha chicken and the shrimp curry. Both PERFECTLY cooked, full of unique and punchy flavor, and things that I would 100% go back for. Our server was fantastic, so all things considered I'd say check them out! I had an early dinner with a girlfriend at the Porch on a Thursday night. The business was fairly empty at 5:30 pm. But picked up as we dined. I ordered the Buffalo cauliflower as a starter and it was so delicious in an unexpected way. I also tried the watermelon mojito and it had a great flavor. My friend and I both ordered the pasta with buratta cheese and added the shrimp. Was a little surprised for $7 you only get 4 shrimps. But I cleaned my plate and was fairly full by the end. We ended our meal with the banana pudding and it was delicious. We both left stuffed and satisfied. I would definitely come back. Caramelized onion cheddar grits, house bbq butter, scallions, ham, shrimp, and a sunny side up egg--perfection at its best! One bite and you will fall in love! The chicken and biscuits weren't so bad either. Fried chicken, biscuits, green peppercorn gravy, and a sunny side up egg. The fried chicken was tender and juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. The gravy was flavorful, and not so rich (which was a good thing!). The egg was beautifully cooked! Check into Yelp upon your arrival and you will receive a complimentary banana puddin' jar ($7 savings). Cute little area with a few restaurants. We found parking behind the place and it was a short walk to the restaurant. We didn't make a reservation ahead of time but did not end up having to wait long. It was pretty busy in there! So many good things to choose from on the menu. We decided to start with the grilled corn Spears. We asked about them to find out. Once we knew it was corn on the cob and it had BBQ butter. Sold. They were amazing. Nice taste and perfectly cooked. I got the fried chicken as my dinner. It came with the watermelon and Mac and cheese. It was awesome. The watermelon was refreshing and flavored seasonings. First, let me preface this by saying I've never been compelled to write a review before last night. This place is confused on what it wants to be. They have the portions and prices of a fine dining establishment without the quality. The "Southern Fried Chicken" with it's "special flour" is just a chicken quarter that is overly salty. The Thursday special was listed as an appetizer + Entree + Dessert. The "appetizer" is your choice of salad, not one of their appetizers. Ok, that's confusing but whatever. The "Cajun Caesar" just seemed to be Iceberg Lettuce with parmesan, bagged croutons, and a Caesar dressing that maybe they put some Cajun Mrs Dash into. The Carbonara was ok, nothing special. Think Domino's pasta, edible, but definitely not worth what they are charging. Then came the paltry serving of Banana Pudding we were served.
