One of my favorite thrift stores out in simi, with the best prices. You are gonna have to dig around and move things, as this is a really packed store full of treasures just waiting to go home. I always go in looking for something and come out with more. Definitely plan at least an hour in here, maybe even more. There are prices on things, but don't get discouraged, that's just to give them an idea of what to price it at when you go to purchase something. We attempted to attend an estate sale in Simi this opening and we left, along with several other customers due to the complete ridiculous disorganization of the staff, especially the owner Tania. Not only did the sale begin late, but they had no organization for people to go in and out. One staff member blamed COVId and county restrictions but it wasn't that at all. They insisted on doing a car auction first yet there were several not even interested in the car or jewelry. We had to wait in line to get in the house but those who were in the car and jewelry line were able to finish and then get into the other line to go into the house by ticket number order- thereby by bumping those in the house line . Reasonably they were limiting the number of people going into the house- but if it's only at 30 min our increments and the jewelry people were bumping the house people out of line, it would've been hours before people could get in. There was no need for this. Why not just have a line and those who went to jewelry first can get in back of the house line? Tania's attitude was also offensive to people. She can argue all she wanted but she didn't have any cause to yell rudely or act as if it was some privilege to enter her estate sale or threaten to throw people out just because they were asking questions. We came for a single item and to shop for other possible ones but it's not worth hours long waits and to be disrespected like this so we along with other customers left. People have lives and have jobs to get to and people could have been in and out quickly. People in line were complaining that she is often like this and never has organization and never starts on time. I must say this was the worst run estate sale (2/12/21 Simi Valley) that I have ever attended, and believe me with 40 years of attending sales under my belt that is saying a lot. I agree with two other reviewers for this sale that there should be a zero star option. Lack of organization the day of the sale, lack of preparation for the sale, ie hoarder house situation that was not organized ahead of time, not enough personnel to handle the large attendance, absolutely rude employees with no leadership from their leader Tania. All of these problems were blamed on the County of Ventura since it was a conservatorship situation. The house was sealed until county employees arrived so how was it their fault. This company advertises that entry numbers will be handed out one hour before the start of the sale, which they did, but since they kept announcing that due to Covid the shoppers needed to maintain 6 feet distancing. Ha ha like that was happening. If it had really been run like a concentration camp, as M.T. said in his review, the company would have stopped everything until the public actually followed their orders. The sale started late due to auctioning off a car, all of which could have been processed at a different specific time. Then the sale had a hugh amount of jewelry which was displayed on the driveway. Those with numbers could choose to go in the house or shop the jewelry table where mob rule dominated. The employee at the door had to yell (ask) if she could let folks in 3 times before opening. And it only got worse from there. I understand the county Covid restrictions which were trying to be put in place for those in the house but dear god if you have thee bedrooms and limit is one person per room why were 8 folks let down the hall. I had arrived there very early for early entry, but was rudely shouted at a couple of times that my time was limited, yet I had to spend a lot of that time reminding folks that only one person could enter the room at a time. And of course by all means deduct the 10 minutes you opened late from the time I was allowed to shop. I was able to enter a second time only to find that one of my bags had not been taken to holding when the nasty blond kicked me out and said an employee would take the stuff I gathered up outside. When I was in the second time I was actually trapped in the bedroom area by employees and customer trying to remove a 50's kitchen table, shall we say fire hazard. Then when they finally got the table out, the rude employee again yelled at me to "GET Out" and accused me of lying about a shopping container being mine. Needless to say I will never again attend one of this incompetent company's sales! And if I was the County of Ventura I would seriously look for a competent company to handle your conservatorship sales. EDIT: 2/18/21 Fishy is as Fishy does. This company had to add an additional day for this estate sale, probably because the run-a-mok occurrence of the 12th failed to sell enough of this estate. YET let's falsely advertise the contents of the sale, they are too f'n lazy to take new pictures, so just use the ones which show all the stuff that already sold. ROFLMAO . I lived in Simi Valley for 20 years before I ever even knew about Fishy Finds. But my wife and I found it several years ago and have cheerfully enjoyed it ever since. Yes, there's a bunch of miscellany in there and you might be the kind of person who is not into old things. But if you like to poke around in a place packed with stuff, Fishy Finds is definitely a novel and interesting place. We have found a number of items that still bring smiles and a fun memory. Awesome store, been coming here for years now, always new stuff and ya never know what you find, collectables, vintage, just cool stuff, artwork, records, toys, glass, old medical/dental instruments, tools, clothes, sewing, antiques of all sorts, memorabilia, like a gigantic ongoing estate sale, so EVERYTHING. Very friendly, honest and sweet staff, great customer service and great prices, can bargain if you want. More organized now than ever inside, appreciate that. Really huge store in an industrial park. We go there often its so much fun and always find stuff to come home with we had no intention of buying, its like a museum in some ways. I get nostalgic sometimes in there, but always FUN to visit. They always have some cool antique trinkets that you can't find anywhere else and their prices are always the best. I come here with my pup shadow and they treat him like the shop dog! What a great place this is. A jumble of old, newish, junk, antique's, and just plain wacky. The owner is polite and helpful, and leaves you to fish about ( excuse the pun) to your hearts content. She is always willing to negotiate the price, and always has time to tell you the story behind some of the more unusual items. The only warning i would give is to allow LOT's of time. My family discovered Fishy Finds about 8 years ago at Christmas time. Each one of my kids was able to hunt for and discover a special gift. We have been going to Fishy Finds ever since. It's a fun trek to Simi Valley. I have found unique jewelry, beautiful glassware and antique dishes that I truly love. This place is a treasure hunt. The owners couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I don't know what happened in the last two weeks -- rent hike? coal in the owner's stocking? greed? -- but the prices more than TRIPLED here since our visit last month. My poor daughter, who is a repeat customer, spent over two hours shopping as she always does, only to put back 90% of the items she selected, because of sticker shock at the register. (No prices on anything -- you are at the mercy of the owner's/employees' whims on the day you show up.) She was even made to wait until Tanya, the owner arrived at the store to price items. I didn't want to believe all of the consignment sellers who complained about her, but my family is now adding our names to the list of those who believe there is definitely something "fishy" going on with this business. read more

Be prepared for a shock when you first enter the store for the first time! There is stuff stacked on top of other stuff that is stacked on top of other stuff, etc., etc. It actually looks like an indoor dump. I was flabbergasted by what I saw (and couldn't see). You traverse the room like an obstacle course, never knowing what is around the next curve. I did buy four things that were visible without moving a bunch of stuff and for those four things the prices were very good. I have no idea how they sell big items there or even most of the stuff; just bewildering. The owner is very talkative and friendly, so the customer service is very good. WARNING! Do not hire this woman to do an estate sale. She signed contracts with my mother in law after walking through and seeing what was available. She was to do an estate sale and then remove whatever she wanted that didn't sell to her store. She had one walk through with our realtor and my mother in law where each thing that would be available was shown to her. At that point she said yes, she would do an estate sale. She came a second time to photograph what would be available. That was last Monday night. She said she wanted to use the photos to place in her ad for the sale. Contracts were signed. I checked her website and her facebook page, as well as googled for Fishy Finds Estate Sale on Wednesday to see the ad. Nothing. On Friday she came to "stage" the sale for the next day. At that time, she decided there wasn't enough potential profit in it for her to hold the sale. She cancelled THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SALE. This put our family in a horrible position, as the home has to be empty and go on the market in less than a week. She clearly knew what was available (NOTHING CHANGED BETWEEN MONDAY AND FRIDAY - there is an antique player piano, antique organ, antique vanity, antique side tables, many pieces of vintage furniture including entire bedroom sets, lamps, desks, bookshelves, antique china, signed and numbered lithos, a closet full of clothes, antique toys, antique rocker, glider, oh and a few coins and jewelry she asked us to bring back "so she could advertise coins and jewelry" - I could go on and on - in fact, one antique piece was ADDED to the sale after she took the photos, NOTHING was detracted), she did NOT place the ad as she said she was going to do, and let OUR REALTOR know the night before the sale she was bowing out, she never contacted my mother on law or my husband, the two people she signed the contract with. Irresponsible and dishonest. We are NOT impressed. Despite her lousy reviews, we had taken a chance. My advice, don't. read more

Thank god for fishy finds. They have a beautiful store filled to the ceiling with antiques and trinkets that both can bring back old memories or intrigue your mind and charm your heart. New things come everyday so I try and check in every moment I get. Om a personal level, I met Tania when I lost my god parents. It was my first experience with loss like that and she made my family and I feel very secure in her warmth and empathy combined with her professionalism. The difficult job of sorting and organizing was lifted off our shoulders at a difficult time and completely handled. She was able to sell many things for us and paid us promptly. After the sale, she took the remaining things of value to her store where she continued to sell for us. At the end of a fair amount of time a second commission check was sent to us. She also helped clean after sale as a extra offered service and helped us donate remaining items that we would have been stuck with. By running the sale without us there, we were able to rest easy knowing it was being taken care of without the emotional turmoil of watching my god parents belongings being dispersed. Shopping with out price tags is frustrating, Especially if the owner/worker is busy on the phone or helping other customers. Sometimes I've just given up and left. I love this place. I come here every so often with my friend to browse through the past. My favorite area is the paper ephemera room... lots of old greeting cards, magazines, books, etc. For awhile they had the most amazing selection of vintage clothes. I've always found their prices incredibly reasonable. As someone who is a thrift store junkie and Etsy seller, I know what stuff generally should go for. This place is crazy pants!! So fun, but be prepared to work for your treasure by digging through this semi-organized hoard. Narrow passage ways. Stuff piled to the ceiling. Stop in one spot and just stare. You will see things you might have missed if you had just glanced as you scooted by. I was looking for a particular type of kitschy item for a project I am working on and after sitting on the floor and going through piles, I found thirteen things I really wanted. Only one seemed to have a price on it, considerably more than I was willing to spend, so I put that one back and brought the remaining twelve to the front. i was nervous about how much they would want for my haul, based on the one price I'd seen, and decided on a personal limit. Because they do a lot of consignment, they can't really offer you a bundled price on a bunch of things, but I got a great deal! I paid about a 1/4 of what I set my budget at. I am thrilled with my haul and will be back! read more

We called and set up a time to bring in three truck loads of misc., clothes and odds and ends. We were told we would be receiving a check once a month for goods sold. After a year has gone by, still no checks. We have stopped by several times and saw some of our items by the cash register that were on hold and sold. Again we were told we would be receiving checks, we never received anything. Some of the items we brought in still had price tags on them (new). What a mistake, we will never do business with Fishy Finds again, can't trust them, so beware. read more

Tania and her team did an amazing job with my estate sale. They worked hard to get as much money for all of the items for sale as possible, and also to make sure that things were cleared out of the house, which was my main goal. While people ended up not buying a lot of the larger items of oak furniture, they made sure that the pieces were either donated or hauled away by someone else in order to get the house empty. It is clear that they know well how the estate sale process works. They also have a large following as there were many people at the sale. Would definitely recommend! read more

Eek! Methinks not. They will be very interested in selling your stuff at their store on consignment initially, but then they change their tune when they are unable to make a sale. I find them curt and a bit snotty to deal with. Also, when you call to inquire, they become very irritated and give the run-around. I would NOT go back there again! read more
