I stumbled across Luther's Attic on my way to the Ace Hardware store located in old town Moorpark. This cramped little store is mainly filled with clothing with a little bit of home furnishings. Prices seem reasonable enough for the merchandise I happened to pick up although determining what the prices were for some items was a bit difficult. The store could use a better merchandising floor plan because the flow was claustrophobic for me. One of the weirdest things I saw there was used men and boys underwear and boxers for sale. Once I saw that my lady and I quickly made my our way out as fast as possible without being noticed. It gives me the creeps just knowing that they sell that stuff. Yuck!

Not a bad place but not a great one. Some of the staff is friendly and some are not. The merchandise is mostly junk with a few cool things mixed in. They close at 4pm and you better believe they will be pushing you out at 4pm on the dot... not a minute later.

The lovely blue vase I picked up for $2.

One of my favorite thrift stores in Ventures County. I always find something I like want or need.

Not only are you supporting a good cause…read moreand your community, but you end up getting such a better deal on the same quality of clothes that you would find at the mall. Some pieces I've found still have tags on them, and others are one of a kind vintage pieces. I tried on some jeans, and one of the younger, trendier workers that was assisting near the dressing rooms, I think her name was Robin, totally helped me style them. She was so amazing! The prices are somewhat fair, similar to goodwill, some exceeding depending on the brand, but cheaper than a designer consignment store. All of the clothes are donated, and what's even cooler is that all of the workers are volunteers. This one in Thousand Oaks has the most wonderful community of older women who use their time to give back to the community. They're all so nice and kind, and are always up for a conversation. Additionally, they have jewelry, accessories, houseware, and trinkets. The hours are a bit tricky, but it's worth checking out if you are free.

I understand businesses have policies, but I was disappointed by the lack of compassion and flexibility, especially for a disabled customer. I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision before visiting, particularly seniors and people with mobility challenges.

This is my second review for this Hope of the Valley…read more Overall, I really do like this place. Lots of neat eclectic finds! Pricing can still be excessive for certain items. Every time I go through the shoe section I shake my head and roll my eyes. I literally found a pair of old, peeling, wrinkled boots that should almost be thrown away, yet they priced them at $16.99!! So, you have to take the bad with the good... It's a non-profit store with things that are donated for free.. It's upsetting to see price gouging...so whoever's in charge of pricing needs to remember that.

The staff are very helpful. I watched as they helped a couple carry out a Tiny Tike toddler play house with the store's hand truck - very accommodating. Prices are decent. This is a good place for CDs, VHS and books too. I bought several. If you are looking for clothes be prepared to spend a good while as there is so much to choose from and thankfully all the racks are very well organized. I didn't come away with any real deals on pricy items but I did get a beautiful candle. The prices are better than good. If you are in Simi and have an hour, stop in and prepare to treasure hunt.
