My Mom recently passed away, and she left behind an apartment full of antiques and other items. My Sister and I were able to sell a few of them, but with a move-out deadline approaching, we turned to the idea of an estate sale. So, who do you choose? I remembered searching a few days prior for "antique furniture shops near Santa Clarita CA," and coming across a large, beautifully-appointed store in Simi Valley (with lots of furniture) called Fishy Finds. I went back to the website, and saw a header for "Estate Sales!" A little over a week ago, I called and left a voicemail message. Tania, the Owner, returned my message the next day. After a few additional calls and messages, we set up the estate sale for this past Friday, 3/20, to be run by her associate, Crystal. While not all furniture pieces sold, many did! A bunch of glassware, lamps, clocks, etc. did also. A good amount of vintage "smalls" were then boxed up by Crystal (and her co-worker, Dale) to be taken to the shop and put on consignment. My Sister and I were able to remove the non-vintage "smalls," and find a charity organization to take the remaining furniture pieces. The apartment was completely empty as of yesterday, and Fishy Finds played a key role in that accomplishment. At this difficult time for my family, Tania, Crystal, and Dale were professional, kind, knowledgable, and compassionate. What an amazing messy unique lovely little shop! I loved looking at so many things I could buy to take home for me. I hit the jackpot for my movie collection as all their movies (DVD's, Blu-Rays, TV Series, etc) were only $1 each! I will definitely be going back to see what else I can find for movies. Been to some of their estate sales, pretty disorganized and picked over but sometimes they have ok stuff. I suspect the better things wind up in their store. My complaint is that it's a hassle to go to their estate sales because they only let a few people in at a time but are oblivious when it comes to letting more people in as the first people leave. Today was no exception, except it wasn't even an estate sale like they advertised . It was a yard sale. With a huge line. Ridiculous. We and some other people in line left . The sale was so disorganized and we didn't get any kind of itemized report about what had been sold and for how much. Just a lump sum of cash. Very unprofessional. Zero furniture sold. Then a carload of things went with Tania to be sold on consignment at her shop. Never heard another word and never saw another dime. Find another service! my Mom passed away last April. We had to sell the house. We contacted Tania in June, 2024 to pick up miscellaneous items and sell them for us. After multiple requests, phone calls and emails I haven't received a dime from her. It is now November, 2024. I filed a complaint with the BB Bureau and my next step will be small claims court. Fishy Finds estate sales are priced waaaayy too high. It's antique store prices, even more in most cases! Overheard them say that whatever does not sell she just takes to her antique store which makes sense why prices are so high. On top of that I witnessed Tania being very rude and unkind to people asking polite questions. In the last day of 3-4 day estate sale trying to charge $50 for an old skateboard with a chunk missing out of the end. Get outta here. read more

This place is a treasure trove of...well, just about anything. It's almost like walking through a museum. Except, if you're looking for things that are displayed really nicely, this might not be the place for you. But if you like to dig through lots of junk to find your diamond, you've found the right place. There is a method to the madness - it might take you a minute to figure it out. And they don't always stick to the method but it does have the word "finds" in the name. To those complaining about prices - dude, what are you smoking? This is not a garage sale. And they do have to pay the rent and keep the lights on. With everything I've ever bought here, I've been able to negotiate a great deal without a lot of effort. Fishy Finds is my favorite estate sale company & antique store around!!! They have the most fabulous incredible finds, and the homes are packed with incredible treasures. I am still thinking of the 100 things I missed last week. The woman who runs the company along with all of her people are just the kindest nicest humans. They always help you & I know they always also look out for the client. They are selling at fair prices for everyone & respect the home owner, & want the items to go to good humans, and are not one of those estate sale companies that, "loot the house of all the silver and good," before the sale, and yes there are some out here that do that. Sell cheap to your friends and split the profit. Fishy finds IS NOT A COMPANY THAT WOULD EVER DO THAT! The owner is ethical, kind, reasonable and her husband / partner who helps is also the nicest man ever. I always catch their sales and also often visit the store to look for whatever I "left behind" over the weekend. Fishy Finds is a true company that preserves history and finds joy in people finding treasures and giving someone's items a new happy life. I can't say enough about them and I always visit their sales, I have meet good friends at their sales, true honest people, that are also curious about the world, like myself. We share stories about the items, learn about history and truly enjoy the dig. These are top notch humans all around and I would let into my house and trust them 100% to be honest and do what is right for my family, along with stroll through the store on a day and have my mind blown about all of the history. I always enjoy shopping the estate sales held by this company. Attached is a photo of an iron couch and table I bought at one of her recent sales. The house is always beautifully set up and the estate sale run professionally. One of my favorite things is that the owner does not allow sign up sheets but requires the attendee to personally be present to get a numbered wrist band. This is a big deal because there's a lot of funny business going on with sign up sheets. The owner truly understands the concept of liquidation and does not overprice items but rather finds the balance of getting the MOST for the homeowner while also giving the buyer a nice deal. I read some reviews here about working with Tania on estate sales. I had a very different experience. Below is my complete review -- with all the good AND the challenging -- so hopefully people will get a complete view. My father passed in February and left me with three generations of stuff. It would have taken me many years to go through and sell everything myself. This was simply not an option. Tania and her team worked with me so I could pull any critical items that were not for sale. (Something to note: Tania's job is to sell things. She will sell everything in the house if allowed, which again, IS HER JOB. So you must be absolutely clear on what you want to keep. Know that she was NEVER pushy about anything I wanted to hold back. Just BE CLEAR and it will make things easier for your peace of mind.) We then made a game plan: 1) Estate sale. 2) Good items not sold go to her store on consignment. 3) Items not sellable offered for charity. 4) Anything not acceptable for charity went to trash. (Tania was very intent on limiting the trash to the absolute minimum, which was my goal as well.) Once we had an agreement, Tania's team came in, set up the entire property for sale using many of their own displays and tables, priced everything and made it ready for people to buy. I left the house at the start of the estate sale, but the line was already down the block! My father's neighbors said the line was long all day. There were still people shopping after the scheduled end time, so it was extended. Tania paid me immediately at the end of the sale. The place was indeed a mess, and being my father's home it was emotionally difficult to deal with. However, it's NOT reasonable to think your house is going to be anything BUT a mess after over a hundred people walk through it, moving stuff around, dropping food wrappers and drink cups, etc. The condition of the house wasn't entirely (or even largely) her team's fault. (Tania's team did not remove the majority of the tape/signs on the wall during the sale. See my summary below for my thoughts about this.) When it came to consignment, There were things I would have wanted handled a little better. Every item they put into consignment should have a sticker on it indicating it's from your estate. While I did see most items with stickers on them, there were some that did not have stickers. This was a concern. There needs to be a better way to ensure ALL items have a correct sticker for when Tania is not at the register. Also, I would have preferred having things itemized. With so many (still hundreds) of items going into consignment, I think it is particularly important to have a "chain of custody" so to speak (sticker, capture item detail, price, date sold) so I can understand what's happening, and how much is left. There were many major positives: - I simply could not have gotten the sale ready on my own. She and her team made it happen. - Tania priced things at retail, which I appreciated. This wasn't a garage sale, and I know my father wouldn't have wanted his stuff just "flipped" but gone to people who appreciated and wanted them. - There were well over 100 people in attendance. This was NOT possible for me to have accomplished. - They used their own tables and displays for the sale, and removed them afterward. - Tania and her team were really easy to work with, very nice and answered every question I had. It's an emotional roller coaster for the seller, and they know it. They were very understanding about the emotions I was going through. - The game plan was clear and it was executed. Things were not left hanging for week after week. Dates were set, and they were met. There are also a few places I would improve: - Better process of ensuring all consignment items are tagged. - Full itemization of items sold. - Clean up tape, signs, etc., from sale location. - More consistent method of consignment payment. If those few issues were improved, I think Tania's Estate Sale services would be unbeatable. I'm still giving 5 stars because regardless of any issues, she helped me accomplish what was impossible for me to accomplish on my own. read more

I am in the process of furnishing a home we just bought and had stopped on a whim to check Fishy Finds while I was in the area. I could not be more thankful I did ..I ended up with some amazing finds for a great deal . Truly one of a kind patio furniture I will treasure for years to come ...and for better prices than commercially produced junk. To make it even more fun ...the set I bought had been brought back to the states from Bali by a very famous and anonymous boy band and used in their meditation garden before they decided to redecorate. This round I scored a matching set of a table , pair of chaise lounges , and a carved teak free standing swing that will take some assembly and a little bit of love but will be incredible once we get it set up. Tania the owner is very helpful and the next time I am looking for something specific I will contact her for sure , there all always new arrivals coming in. There's a lot of stuff in there, if you're looking for something old you'll probably find it but they are way overpriced. It's hard to walk around, feels claustrophobic. Things are dirty and piled everywhere. I thought I had found a jewel but I'm not going back. Try Second Story instead, clean and great prices. read more

This estate sale company is the best of the best. This is hard working mother with family VALUES, honest and trustworthy. I have been to many of her sales and I have to say, her estate sales are the most efficiently managed, fairly priced & well organized. No estate sale, other than this one, gives numbered nylon wristbands hours before the start of the sale so no one single person unfairly writes 25 names on a list, there's not a big disturbance in the neighborhood or best of all, and for health & safety, massive crowds were not waiting in line durning the height of the pandemic. By doing this simple kind act, shoppers can also go back to sleep comfortably in their cars. She didn't delegate this responsibility to some random worker, her husband (married 30 years +) is up with the early risers to do this and details like these show that they have integrity and care about people. She employs a full staff of single mothers so someone is available to help you at all times. At the last sale I attended, she employed 5 young single mothers for a fairly small sale. You will find everything neat, folded and in its place - woman touches like these make everything look so pretty! She's just the best, she's great! All this trash talk about this nice lady is completely FALSE. Don't think so? Try the other 2 male chauvinist pigs in this area. They'll either be following you around with unwanted advances while you're trying to shop, quoting you the eBay price after they check for it on their phones right in front of you, swindling, on some male chauvinistic rant degrading women and minorities or mocking gays. I'm guessing the shoppers who've written these reviews haven't yet encountered these crass, fast talking pirates that have worked together to monopolize this area. All you'll find is JUNK with these pirates because they've ALREADY stolen and you're purchasing their discards. There is NO valuable jewelry or comic books at their sales LOL, FOOLS. If you're an estate owner and you're crying about the mess she left behind - Duh Karen, she had an estate sale, not a tea party. A few misplaced dishes and tape on the wall? That's an easy clean up. I've been to estate sales where they've demolished a wall to get to the safe. I've viewed an estate sale company put a loved one's dirty laundry and unmentionables on their website (pictured in my reviews). But a real dirty clean up, is one where lawyers have to get involved and your estate is in a dirty litigation because you've hired foul-mouthed thieves & pirates. Do not, under any circumstances, use this woman for your estate sale. Completely unprofessional. Tells you what you want to hear on your "walk-through", and lo and behold comes through with nothing. Absolute garbage performance of the estate sale and garbage service. The most poorly advertised estate sale I have ever seen, held it on a Thursday, and boo-hoo'd us that she "hardly sold anything". Lets charity come through and utterly destroy my grandmothers home. Had no thoughts of cleaning up after herself. After approaching her and sending her the attached photos, is when she then offered to come back and clean. By this point we revoked her permission to be on our property as we were so disgusted and devastated with how she left my grandmothers home. Went to a sale they were doing and was really taken aback at the way they handled the Estate Sale. A friend shared her friend was having an estate sale and to look at a certain piece, I knew the price had a minimum or it shouldn't be sold, they were sharing the price for way less than what the minimum from the seller was supposed to be. Since then I've heard nothing but bad business reviews from others from this seller. And not sure how you as an person who is doing business with them can get real receipts, the items I did buy were not itemized on a receipt just scribbled the dollar amount that was sold, so no tracking of inventory and no prices on items as we walked through. read more

I moved my mom from Simi Valley up to Oregon and I was told that Fishy Finds would be a good company to do the estate sale. NOT! I feel since I live in Oregon I have been getting the runaround. I know that my mom's item are being sold, but it is like pulling teeth to get any type of payments from this company. She never provided an itemized list of what she took from the house, which I was promised she would send to me several times. I would avoid doing any business with Fishy Finds. I always look forward to seeing them when I walk in. There's a boatload of work that goes into staging one of these estate sales. Shoppers don't have a clue how much effort these people put in before you even arrive. The owner of this store took. comic books I had purchased and replaced them with newer ones when she realized I'd found a stash of highly valuable comic books she offered me refunds store credit as well as keep the comics everything .
