One said it was too far, the other (also located in Shelton, CT) never called or responded to my emails or voice mails (Fit-Tek). Kathy at Pro-Tech actually answered the phone and scheduled a diagnostic check within a week. Tom the repair person arrived promptly and went right to work, figuring out that the belts needed replacement. This cost 223.34 (with tax). They then ordered the parts, and scheduled me for a service within 2 weeks from the original visit. Tom again arrived promptly and fixed the machine in about 45 min. Cost was 253.58 including parts/labor/tax. I feel this service was priced appropriately and the experience was excellent. I like to fix things myself and I could have tried to do the repair myself for less but I probably would have messed it up and wasted some money and time doing that. I highly recommend this family owned and operated local business for home gym equipment repairs.

The machine had no other problem but two weeks later it was back to not working again.  They came back and said that another part now needed replacement (this time, the fly-wheel) and sent me an estimate with a 67% (!) mark-up on the part. When I told them they I would supply the part myself, they refused to provide service. This is textbook bad customer service - expensive, ineffective, unethical, price-gougers. Stay away from them.

Christine Wright who is their Sales Specialist is very knowledgeable. If she doesn't have something, she will work hard to find it and will call me when she gets it. When purchasing a treadmill (because she knew me, my training style and the space in my home) she recommended the best treadmill. I love it and use it daily, when on days when I do run outside. I contacted Johnson Fitness & Wellness to ask about rubber tiles for the home gym we build in our…read morebasement. They were very nice and professional, sold me the tiles and put me in touch with a wonderful installer. The problem is, they installed the tile on bare concrete - I actually asked the installer if there needed to be any finishing first...he assured me that it didn't. It laid directly on the concrete. Well while the work was ongoing on the rest of the house and the AC units were not connected yet, at the first heat wave about 3 weeks later, mold quickly grew on the mats. I didn't get even a days use. I have since been told by multiple people that a vapor blocker - even a coat of waterproof paint - would have prevented this. Very sadly Johnson Fitness & Wellness takes zero responsibility - they don't stand behind their products or their work, and my $3,100 purchase is now lost due to their lack of understanding how their product needed to be installed.
