I've been attending Fitness 19 for over a year now and have noticed a huge change, both physically and mentally! Prior to beginning this program, I had never weightlifted and did not know where to even begin to learn. Working with a personal trainers seemed too intimidating, and I did not know enough to begin learning on my own and risk an injury. This program is the happy medium!   Twice a week, you receive incredibly detailed videos for each movement/exercise where your coach talks through the proper form, suggests a starting weight, explains what the movement should feel like, what muscle groups you should activate, tips on how to protect your back & neck, etc. He equips you with all the information you need to feel comfortable enough to complete the exercise. If that weren't enough, a floor coach is always available throughout your workout to help guide you in any aspect you need. A new wristband system allows you to further personalize the program, by indicating how much interaction you would like from your coach on that given day/exercise. Want a really involved floor coach that will give you all the expert tips? Wear green! Do you prefer to be on your own and reach out to the coach yourself with questions? Wear red! The beauty of this program is in the flexibility it provides, from how involved you would like your trainer to be, to setting your own schedule.   I highly recommend this program and do not have plans of quitting anytime soon. The equipment is well kept. The employees are great. The hours are good. I wish it was open later, but in that neighborhood, 11 pm is fine for Monday through Thursday. The massage machine is awesome. The problem is the members. They NEVER put the weights back. They play on their phone when they are working on the machines, hogging them up. Go there at between 6 pm and 8:30 pm. You will have to hunt for the dumbells or weights you want. Go into stretching area, and there are discarded weights and mats all over. I find it inconsiderate and flat out RUDE! The staff are instructed to do nothing about it. In their defense, who wants to pick up weights behind grown ass adults all shift. Maybe they could put up signs or something, but it's ridiculous. Go before or after prime time, or the time you had budgeted to work out will be spent looking for equipment. The bottom line is THE MEMBERS SUCK! read more

Sandy and Jose who work there have been a game changer for me. Always great you as you walk in and are quick to solve a problem when needed. I was having trouble in giving this gym either a three or a four star rating. Reason for that is because they don't have any classes that are offered, like in some of their other locations. That's unfortunate because I really enjoy them and Fitness 19 has great instructors that are friendly and will motivate you. Aside from that downfall, this gym is very nice and clean. I went on a Saturday morning, so it wasn't too busy. I'm sure they have an evening rush, but what gym doesn't? The staff was friendly as I came in, and I didn't struggle to find a machine to use. Everything is nice and organized. They upkeep the gym very well. There are no locker rooms here, but they do have changing rooms if needed, and there are bathrooms as well. Today (memorial day) I was trying to hurry up & do a workout during my lunch break & I'm trying to use the 1 out of 2 lateral pull-down machine & another member was double dipping 3 different weights...& I told her that I was sure it's against gym policy to multi use weight machines & she told me that I can leave to another gym. I've never been a part of business fraud until now, it's crazy, I've only ever seen videos of stuff like this. I haven't been in the gym in months because I have a home set up. I still keep a membership in case I want to go back. Months pass without me in there and all of a sudden $1600 leaves my account on Saturday. I call, an associate tells me it says 4 personal training packages were charged for some reason and that he'll leave a note for the GM to reach out. I call my friend that works there. He tells me it's happening to like 5 other members, all for 2-$5k and that the GM is refusing refunds. They tell me she gets a bonus for selling PT packages and the only way you can get the money back is by disputing with your bank. What in the California is going on. Sunday afternoon I see $400 more left my account. I call at 1:30 and get the same employee. Says the GM already left for the day. Never reached out. Monday, today, I call and ask for the GM, Yereli. I explain my situation and confusion. She starts by saying I never cancelled my personal training way back and she can only provide a partial refund. I explain that Maverick, the past PT manager that doesn't work there anymore, cancelled my account months ago right in front of me. If anything else happened after that it's not on me. She tells me to write an email to the gym so she can have written authorization to cancel the packages. I asked why she never called me after I tried multiple times. She says, "I mean I'm getting all these calls about your problem on my day off, it's my day off, what am I supposed to do." The fact that I had to chase her down to even have the conversation is mind blowing, especially after she admits that she was told about it. Ive already spoken with the police, it's straight forward fraud. Ive never gone into Karen mode in my life but I asked for the franchise owners information and she refused to give it to me. read more

Okay first time there and its a small gym so not as spacious as the 24 hour and LA fitness ones Ive been to but its do-able for a proper workout. I went on a monday mid morning and it had a decent amount of people but I would imagine when its busy it might get a bit packed in there. I bought the membership online and once I went in the girl at the desk was very helpful and expedited the process. Much appreciated also because I had a guest with me. One thing I did notice and maybe I missed it but I unlike most gyms I dont see the wipeys for the equipment. I also noticed ALOT of people didnt wipe down the equipment when done, so many take some if need be. read more

BEWARE THE FEES!!! Not worth the "low price" at all!!! They charge you a yearly fee of $40 and charge you an extra month if you wanna cancel because it takes 30 days to process cancelation apparently. Anyway, they milk you for everything. Also, the staff have no idea what they're doing. When you call for information, whatever is given over the phone is different in person. I called someone over the phone to ask how much I'd be paying to cancel, she said I didn't have to pay anything, I just had to come in to cancel. When I got there, the guy who helps me says that I actually had to pay the annual fee and an extra month due to the 30 day thing. I asked SPECIFICALLY if that's all I had to pay and that there is no termination fee. HE SAYS THAT'S ALL. Now, I find out they charged me a total of $111 including a $50 termination fee. GREEDY BUSINESS MILKING PEOPLE ESPECIALLY IN THIS PANDEMIC. It's a pretty pathetic gym, too, tbh. Two squat racks that are ALWAYS occupied!! I ended up paying a crap ton of money for a sorry experience. CONSIDER OTHER GYMS!!! Don't get suckered into their "low price"!! Trust me. You'll end up paying so much, you'll wish you just did yoga at home in the first place. (Which is what I ended up doing during the pandemic.) UPDATE: After writing this review, James (one of the traveling managers if I remember correctly) was kind enough to check in on my case and contact me. He agreed that whoever that employee was should have been more clear about the fees and went ahead and returned my money to me. I greatly appreciate the action and time he put into reviewing my case, and for that, I give it 4 stars for customer service! Because of the care he put into my case, I would consider going back to this gym if my schedule permits so. At least now I know what to expect concerning fees and such. Solid gym overall. I started getting the flyers advertising the $9/month way back in April. I figured I'd keep my money until I actually saw the doors open on this place, which happened sometime in August. As of today, it's $12/month to start, but they'll sell you on the $20/month plan instead. Basically for paying $20/month instead of $12/month, you get to bring a guest to the gym from Friday to Sunday, you get access to their hydro-massage bed thing, and you have privileges to go to all Fitness 19 locations (not that there are that many of them). Also for $12/month, you have to pay a lock-in fee or something, which is waived for the $20/month plan. There might be something else too, but I can't remember. Anyways, the moral of the story is, the $20/month plan made more sense to me. After the initials to get started, payment is made automatically from your checking account on the 15th of each month. If you want to cancel, they need 30 days notice. I guess the idea is to strategically plan around which day you want to cancel so that you're charged only the minimum amount, which I believe would be canceling on the 14th of each month. Aside from that, there's also some annual fee that is assessed every March as well. I forgot how much it is, maybe $30 each year. As for the gym itself, it's decent. New equipment all-around, with upper-body, lower-body, 2 squat racks, free weights, and a small town made up of treadmills. As others have mentioned, most machines are placed pretty close together, but I'd rather have more machines than not enough. There are plenty of TVs, workout music, friendly staff, and overall the gym feels clean with good air circulation and lighting. If you go during primetime (weeknights), then the parking lot has a tendency to fill up, but I haven't had any big issues with that yet. read more

Need more squat racks. Weight section is usually really busy in the morning, so be prepared to wait if you come around 0600-0800. The good thing is that people are relatively quick and don't just hang out on their phone, but would be nice if they could invest in at least one more rack due to the increase in members. Been coming here since my gym is still closed, but definitely don't see myself sticking around once other gyms open back up cause they just don't have enough weight stuff. However, with that said, the workers here are friendly, gym is clean, and they have a lot of cardio equipment. So, if you're more of a cardio person and don't care bout weights that much then this gym will definitely have enough for you. read more

I am glad the gym has opened back up but it's pointless when you can't get a decent workout in. The restroom are messy 80% of the times I've gone. Its well over capacity. It's not safe to workout here regardless of temperature checks or people wearing masks incorrectly. It's super packed 4pm-9pm. Good luck trying to go these times cause it's so bad. It's very frustrating when you are paying & can't workout what you want because people are constantly there for hours. There should be a waitlist, a sign in sheet for 2 hours alloted per member. Even just closing the gym to new clients so your current members aren't annoyed about this whole situation. I just want to workout but this gym is 10000% not obeying covid guidelines for keeping capacity under a limit. The reopening of FITNESS 19 Gardena is overall awesome !! Both indoor and outdoor available for members now !! Some of their cardio machines are outside for members that need fresh air and space, as well as free weights! Inside all members are REQUIRED to keep their mask on at all times to keep everyone safe in the gym ( covid free zone ) and a TOWEL is required as well. Moreover, they have a $25 membership that is no-contract and allows you to bring a plus one on the weekends for free! ANDDD its multi-club access!!! Do not purchase the training packages and fyi you do not have to be there in person to cancel your membership. I put my membership on hold with the training packages, no one disclosed I could cancel my membership via email until I tried reaching a manager on Saturday when I tried explaining my situation to the associate. This information would've been helpful before they decided to charge me $650 in personal training sessions that have not been used and will not be provided. I followed up today (Tuesday) since I hadn't heard anything back just to find out they might not be refunding me. I'm not sure if it's all fitness 19 or just this one but it's bad business, and I'm sure it's something they'll push right now with the holidays coming up so don't buy into it. read more

This Fitness 19 location is great! They have incredibly affordable prices, better than anything else in the area, and their equipment and space is always clean. The environment is very positive and accepting which was helpful for me as I was new to working out at a traditional gym. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. On an extra positive note, I've been taking personal lessons from their trainer Jamaal, and he is PHENOMINAL. He has gone above and beyond to help me meet my goals, and pushes me to success every time I go in. He challenges me and empowers me to be my best self when working out, which is something that I had been needing to stay motivated and consistent. I like this place way better than 24 hour fitness which is close by, but tends to be extremely crowded. They don't have showers or a steam room... But it's close by so I can go home to do all that. This gym is amazing. I have been looking for a gym that's able to stay open since COVID & this gym was recommended to me by a family member & it is all that she said it was. First of all you can come try it out for free first day & the staff aren't pushy at all for you to join. It's Very clean and spacious & they even offer indoor and outdoor gym options. The staff is really nice & helpful and always visible in the gym. And the members are pretty courteous and happy as well it's a very refreshing environment to be in while in the midst of a depressing year. And the cherry on top is their training services, my trainer Jamaal and I met on my first day in the gym and have been working to achieve my goals since. He takes into consideration our goals and pushes us past our doubts - An amazing support to me and my mom (who I convinced to join the gym) & definitely knowledgeable in his profession. This is my favorite gym in the area! I feel comfortable working out here, the vibes are right lol. Yarely, the manager is super sweet and helpful. All the staff and trainers are really friendly. I've personally trained with Jesus and Paul. Paul will push you to your limits and then some, definitely appreciate it. The facilities is clean, I always see staff going around and disinfecting the machines. There are about two squat racks, a grass area but no locker rooms (there are small day lockers tho). I've only been about 5 times BUT its never too busy(even around 6-8pm), the longest ive had to wait for a machine was maybe 10min, they have 2 squat racks(which is why i switched to this gym) also a grass area with TRX, weighted balls and more. staff is friendly, AC is good, bathrooms are clean, equipment is new, it feels good to be in there, members are very nice as well. I've been coming to fitness 19 for over 2 months, I have been hitting my fitness goals successfully by coming to this gym... but the staff is very unprofessional starting with training. The day I came in for training the manager got smart with me and told me that the trainer that was working there was a no show. My meeting was at 9:00am I showed up at 8:55 he told me I was early. He paired me with a trainer I do not care for and he was new, had no idea of what he was doing. Before I had even spoken to the manager about training I asked an associate his shirt said trainer on it , so I asked some pointers on push-ups And he told me he wasn't a trainer he got a promotion, but I seen him training someone else so I don't know why the lies have to come in to play. I canceled all my workout sessions, that same day and they canceled my whole account. The general manager fixed it for me thank GoD and I upgraded my membership. So today I'm bringing a 30 pound bar outside to the out door gym which is what I have been doing for the past few months, now they need my keys or ID... I dont steal!!! Little man told me new rules, He could have said that when he came running outside to stop me . I barely speak to the staff the majority of their male staff full of shit. But if you want to work out and have space this is the place to come. read more

I like this gym because it offers not only machines but also the machines where you add plates onto it. The ONLY thing I don't like about this gym, that staff really don't have too much control over, is the fact that some people hog machines and leave their stuff on machines while they use other machines. I know a couple of females that put their sweaters/yoga mats on the leg press (and other machines) and go workout somewhere else, not giving someone the chance to use the machine when it's clearly not in use. It makes me wish I was more confident to speak up, but it makes me anxious lol. If staff could say something to people that do this, I'd give this place a 5 star review.
