I've been going to this location as a trial for a week and I was able to experience a good amount at this location. I think the experience really depends when you go. I've gone at the wee hours of the night where there's not a lot of people, so there's more parking out in the front. I will say that the section where there's bikes, treadmills, and the pool area is much cooler than the side that has the weights an the basketball court. It's a big difference in the way it feels as if there's little to no air conditioning on the weights side. It feels very musky and difficult for one to really exercise in. Personally, it seemed like it's a clean gym. I've seen a worker even cleaning the vents up top which is much cleaner than my actual gym that I go to which is EOS. So I thought that was a plus. And the women's bathrooms is always on top of it, or at least from what I saw. I liked that this gym has a little daycare place that you can drop off your kids for a maximum of two hours. Not sure the rates, but it seems like a good deal for anyone who needs their kids watched while working out. I've taken two Zumba classes in the rooms and I absolutely loved the fact that the dance room is large. It gives people enough space to move around without feeling like you are in their space. I've worked out at 24 Hour Fitness, Gold's Gym, EOS fitness, and the problem with those gyms is that the classes are just too small. With that said, the only thing is that sometimes the instructors are talking to their fellow dancers (in Spanish) in front of everyone. I'm okay with it cause I love my Latinos, but I can see where someone might feel excluded or may not understand. Which was okay with me but something I just noticed. Parking isn't bad when I came late in the evenings, but during peak hours, it was rough. A lot of people were parking on the red zones or places that I don't think you can normally park. Sometimes across the street or a bit farther down where Best Buy is. I didn't get a chance to park in the parking structure but it also seems very inconvenient for some. My two cents for this place. Not bad, but also not the greatest. But I feel that you'll have to pay more for a better experience. This is, to me, good enough for what the rate of this gym goes for. read more

Arrived at this location around 10amsh on Friday 05.15.2026. Its one of a larger size location that has available parking at their 4 story lot. As a warning, pending what time you go, parking is very hard to find. Both parking structure and street. Everyone is hawking for parking, meaning everyone is aggressive. Good luck on that part. This is one of the main inconvenience at this location. I entered the gym and I was greeted. Kudos to the front desk for doing so. It really sets the vibe and energy. Went to restroom and it was somewhat clean. Entered the bathroom to find out there was a clogged pipe and urine was all over the floor. 10 minutes later, it was announced on the loud speaker that the bathroom was closed! Gym equipment at this time was somewhat maintained. Loose weights were scattered in various places. The mats were dirty. Overall, this gym does its job. You have the cardio side, free weights side, mechanical side and basketball court. Also, this is one of the gyms that still has punching bags you can use and utilize for boxing and mama. This gym can use some work on their equipment cleaning. Restock, clean, mop floors and vacuum. I advise they should have a full time cleaner walking around the clock for maintenance. Good to go. This was my home location and unfortunately I had to cancel my membership for personal reasons. I went in on a Monday evening and they informed me that I could only cancel my membership Monday through Fridays from 9-5. It was about 8pm when I walked in. This was surprising since the cancelation email they sent me stated I can go in-person during "hours of operation" at any location. So either the email they sent was inaccurate officially from LA fitness or they were lying to me. I also had to wait about 15 min for them to tell me this. I don't understand as a paying customer, I should be able to cancel at any point in time. I had to go to another LA fitness to cancel and they were able to help me within a few minutes without any issues. Just goes to show how shady this specific location is. read more

They don't run AC. Always hot in this gym. Treadmills and other machines are often broken. They don't clean anything either.

For anyone thinking of joining, don't. There's never machines available. You will have to wait. If you have a specific routine be prepared to have to switch it up last minute. You will also have a hard time finding parking. And janitors are rude. read more

The only thing this LA Fitness has as a positive is the location and parking. This LA Fitness is one of the worst that I have been a member of in over 35 years. I have been a member of LA Fitness in 3 other states besides California and all of them were far superior to this gym. This LA Fitness is horrible in terms of maintaining equipment, replacing equipment with newer equipment, cleanliness of the locker room is horrible. The men's showers have been cleaned disinfected only once in the past year. The general cleanliness of the showers is disgusting with dirt, hair, soap pieces left on the floor. The showers themselves have various types of pressure from ok to hardly any power. Every time someone flushes a toilet the water in the shower is affected. The lockers are dirty and have never been cleaned in the past year. The free weight room is always filled with weights that have been left by the prior user and nothing put back in place. Many times, you have to go searching for the weights that you need. The salespeople sit at their desks on their phones and never walk the work out area or put back weights so the members do not have to go on a search. All of the other LA fitness in other states have their sales staff walk the areas and put back equipment for the members. Right now, the air conditioning has been out for 4 days and when I asked the receptionist at the desk when it was going to be fixed, she told me that they are still looking for and HVAC company to fix the issues. The TVs that are attached to the treadmills and ellipticals some work and other's do not. The upholstery on the work out equipment in some areas are cracked and torn. This condition has been for weeks and should have been repaired like in other LA Fitness gyms. The actual weights with the amount of weight have been worn off on many machines and should have been repainted. The general care of the machines for missing parts is nonexistent at this gym. The workout machines are very old and in the other LA fitness gyms I have been a member were upgraded and replaced as well as upgraded shower stalls. It is obvious that since there are so little alternatives to a gym that is well run and cared for, this gym can continue to run without any care or concern other than to sign up new members. I wish a new gym would enter the market in the area since I would be glad to change immediately. This is what happened to the LA Fitness I was a member in Turnersville, NJ who was not as bad as this gym but did not care about the members or the issues and problems. A new gym chain called EDGE Fitness entered the market 2 miles away. Within 6 months of their opening the majority of the LA Fitness members quit and joined Edge Fitness. The LA fitness club went out of business. This is what happens when there is no competition and both land/sites with adequate space are not available and the cost is high to rent or build. read more

1/. Cleaner locker and shower areas. I tried to shower there but couldn't and returned home to shower. 2/. The ugliest sights you'll see walking around completely naked walking out of shower dripping and walking to their locker. 3/. Disgusting smell also will put anyone of decent value off. 4/. I love that there are a lot of machines at this location. However most of them if not all are in bad shape. It's been 3 months I've started here and and they still tell me they're waiting on parts. This is a nice and clean gym overall but the reason I wish I could give them a negative star is that Aileen and Claudia their Zumba instructors are extremely unprofessional having their friends teach most of the class, they are also very clickish so there's nothing you can do, they will retaliate if you said anything! I have complained about this several times but even the general manager cannot do anything to control them. I enrolled in this gym for Zumba and this happens to be the closest location to Palos Verdes but I have to dive all the way to Long Beach because they have better instructors. They need to fix this problem and find professional instructors who actually teach the class. read more

I signed up for a free 3-day complimentary pass just to scope out the gym. I spoke with Edwin for onboarding. He was very thorough and patient in walking me through my fitness goals, a beginner-friendly workout plan, and gave me a tour of the site. The gym was clean and spacious and easy to navigate. I was interested in swimming at the pool and wanted assurance about the water quality. Edwin reassured me that the PH levels and chlorine were checked 3 times a day and the water was cleaned 3 times a week. I was able to look at the pool and ask my questions until I felt confident. Ultimately, I ended up getting a membership and feel really good about it. I know Edwin will help keep me accountable to my fitness goals. The location is questionable, but the facilities and equipment are very good. It doesn't make sense the elevated parking lost has 6 floors and the entrance does not access the interior of Gym, you have to exit to a dark street with no lights and enter by another section of stairs with poor lighting. read more

I'm so over this location! The parking has always been an issue, and now with everyone's new year's resolutions it's impossible to park. The structure is so terribly built! If one person is waiting for a spot it backs up the whole line and if people are stuck on the ramp we cannot move to exit due to the tight turns. Then fighting for machines and weights is another hassle. By the time you've found a parking spot and waited your turn for a machine.... it's been an hour wasted. This isn't convenient anymore and I am reconsidering my membership and looking elsewhere that has better access. read more

This is my go to gym. I come after work, because who wants to sit in a hour worth of traffic, when you can just go to the gym. When I come, the gym is always packed. Lately, it has been giving off a really bad smell when you walk in. I know it's a gym, but I shouldn't be smelling EVERYBODIES sweat. I hope they get that problem fixed soon. I think the call this one a " super gym". It IS bigger than some of the one in Long Beach. I usually come and do the cycling classes. I love love love all the instructors. I'm always worn out after a ride and feelings as though I got a good workout in. Some days, I come and work out on the machines if I can. People love to hog the machines so sometimes I have to get creative with my workouts. The women's changing/ restrooms are clean when I come in. I like that the women have their own sauna, unlike 24 hour fitness. I also think they have better cycling bikes than 24 hour fitness as well. Sometimes the sauna can get packed but not usually. They have water stations that are hands free. They also have a smoothie bar, I've never gone, but I do see people lining up for it, so I'm guessing its good. read more

I went into LA Fitness today, off of 147th in Hawthorne, CA, to dispute overcharges on my account. Absolutely no one wanted to help regarding the hundreds of dollars taken from my account. The manager on duty was no help at all and completely unprofessional. The manager instructed me to call corporate and said she didn't have the ability to call from her phone, so I called from my cellphone while still in the fitness club. She had no care about all the documentation I had printed out. Of course, Sarah from corporate was also no help, stating she didn't see any additional charges on her end and that I would need to dispute the charges with my bank. Again, Sarah was another one who didn't care for the documents that I had to show the charges. Don't go to this location. Anyone else dealing with LA Fitness overcharging? read more

It was good coming back to this gym really where i started. But As I activated my 3 day pass I was offer many deal from the employees which they could help me but there's one there that didn't keep his promises. Rey, As I spoke to him at first wanted to help me out and even texted me on his personal number but there was no catch to what he said just to give out 15 numbers to get a 2 week free pass. This was all a lie he didn't even put it into the system and a I tried to ask many people denied me. when i spoke to him he kept pushing me to activate my membership but I explained to him that I would but I had to do other personal things first meaning why I was doing the 2 week free pass and even gave him the numbers too for it. Another thing as I asked him " what's the catch" when he called me he said "no catch just need the numbers by today and you'll get a 2 week free pass". again a lie and he said he wouldn't bother nor contact anyone which another lie. Been a member since 2021, cannot believe how far this gym has fallen off. It makes me sad to have to write this review but the rudeness of the employees coupled with the "adjusted guest policy" means I can no longer justify paying over $30/month plus an annual fee. The managers here are dishonest and delusional. I had a medical reason for cancelling and the training manager went on to say he was like a doctor. What a disgrace and shame to the medical community that a person with a low level of education to claim that he is a doctor. The people that go here is a mixed bag. You will see Teslas but also cars that have duct tape to hold them together. The stairs are very dirty and full of graffiti. The parking situation is terrible. The class offerings are mediocre and mostly in Spanish. Don't bring your kids to Kids Klub because they will be left there to fend for themselves. Equinox and LA Fitness are close by. Go there instead. The best thing about this gym is Toan who is a personal trainer. He has a master's in kinesiology and knows what he is doing. Equinox and 24 hrFitness are close by. However if I am at the gym and if I want to use a training area to stretch out I cannot to the fact they are training other people. if I was doing a training session I would like to see other people working out in the area. when I signed up I was informed that I can use the training area anytime I want it.
