I went under contract for personal training thru my current gym -- Fitness Connection Clear Creek Austin, Texas location. I am a 100% permanent and total disabled veteran. All of which I made the trainer aware of prior to signing the contract. After just two sessions of the trainer not respecting my physical limitations, my back locked up and sent me to the emergency room. This episode continued into three weeks of excruciating pain and limited mobility. The emergency room trip took place in December, I have not been back to the gym since. Upon reviewing my contract, I saw there is a "Cancellation Policy No Fee" clause stating, "if by reason of death or permanent disability, the customer is unable to continue the Agreement, Buyer or Buyer's estate shall be relieved from the obligations of the contract, and if buyer has prepaid any sum, the unused portion shall be promptly refunded. Legitimate doctor's office note and verification of permanent disability/permanent inability to participate in the activities or death of customer is required." I have provided official letters from my VA primary care physician, VA chiropractor, as well as my VA verification letter of my permanent and total 100% disability status for review of medical termination. The elevate fitness contact "Jon Nelson" has rejected all documents as insufficient, claiming to need further specification of physical restrictions and duration of restrictions -- other than the permanent 100% disability and restriction from anything heavier than five lbs or any activity that worsens my chronic conditions...? I have asked to speak to someone above him, as well as attempting to put in my official 30 day cancellation request -- both with no response. At this point, I could not in good faith recommend the personal training services here to anyone under any circumstances. There is a clear lack of care or concern for the actual health and long term wellbeing of their clients. Their only notable concern is profit with no regard to conducting ethical business. read more

Sauna has been broken since New Year's. I've called a couple of times and asked at the desk if there's a plan or someone coming to repair and I've gotten mixed answers, most have been, "I don't know." The gym is fine, like any other gym except occasionally a company they partner with has people walk around the gym and try to sell you on their product/training. I was mid set, with headphones on, and a woman I had never met, approached my sweaty self, hugged me, and then chatted at me about her program. She wasn't wearing any branding or name tag so I legit thought she was a lunatic off the streets. Mentioned it to them at the desk when I left and they were like, "oh ya, no, she works here." Positives: I really love how affordable this gym is, and it's an easy commute, I just want to workout in peace and enjoy my daily 25 min in the sauna. Please fix this soon or I'm out! I drove an hour and a half from Temple. Came to the gym and apparently you need a "local ID" and it needs to be your first time visiting. Two details that WERENT DISCLOSED on the bring a friend flyer. Absolute garbage. And a day pass is $40? Couldn't recommend this gym less to anyone. As someone who joined this location before it even opened, I've stayed loyal through the highs and lows--including long sauna closures and the disruptions from COVID-19. But the hardest part for me now is that I can no longer access the gym during its current limited hours. As a single father working two jobs, the only time I can consistently make it in is before 4 AM. That window used to be my lifeline, helping me lose over 85 lbs and become a healthier version of myself--for me and for my son. I'm deeply asking you to please consider reopening earlier--ideally at 3 AM--or to explore key fob/app-based entry systems for responsible, low-traffic access during off-peak hours. Dee has been excellent -- he welcomed us back, is actively managing the situation with the trainer, and assured us that this problem will not happen again. We are thankful to be back, although in our opinion, it should never have come to this in the first place. Changing from 1 star to 4. Our group has played futsal here every Saturday morning since the gym opened without incident. We welcome anyone -- men, women, and players from all over the world -- and have built a diverse, respectful, safe, and competitive community. Futsal is a world-recognized sport, very different from regular soccer, played on a basketball court with a smaller, heavier ball and soft-soled shoes. The focus is on technique and passing, not speed or heavy contact. Recently, we had 15 players on one court (as always) when we were suddenly told "basketball only" is allowed -- even though posted court rules don't prohibit futsal and the courts are often empty or lightly used. Volleyball and other activities are allowed, yet futsal was banned without warning. We've always shared space and even played on half a court when needed. This enforcement felt arbitrary and inconsistent. Manager Kira said she was "brought in from Dallas to enforce the rules." An outside trainer, apparently giving paid lessons, positioned trainees next to our game, used profanity, and said he didn't "give a xxxx" if futsal is played worldwide. Management saw and did nothing. At that point, 14 members canceled and many more considered leaving. I stopped going because the facilities were always so crowded, disgusting and dirty. I found another gym with more availability for way cheaper and much cleaner close to my work. When I tried to cancel, it took 3 attempts before I was actually cancelled. The customer service on the phone is horrible. They use an outsourced coaching service, they come in to manage the gym's local trainers and come up with a sales pitch that they train their team on to sell personal training packages. This outsourced company is called "Elevate Fitness Coaching." To purchase personal training, you transact with this company, and all your "Support" (irony) is handled through the email they provide on your agreement. This keeps the gym free and clear of disputes or any responsibility to you when it comes to personal training. Unfortunately for us, we learned this the hard way and I hope to save you from the same painful 2.5 months we've had. The sales person they had the night of our PT consultation was a 20-year-old named Hunter Buckman. I trusted what he was saying was in my best interest. My partner and I met with him for 2 hours, each of us providing our deep intentions and motivations for the program. I only signed up for Fitness Connection in order to have personal training. The sales trainer lied so unbelievably- he is a very charismatic kid, and they didn't schedule my first session until 6 days later, so it took me 6 days to learn the truth. The big lies: - He said the training sessions are 1 hour. - He said there was no cancellation fee. - He said you can pause your membership at any time for as many times as you want. The little lies: - As a part of your personal training benefit, your trainer will come up with a nutrition plan that meets your fitness goals - as discussed with Hunter Buckman. - You will leverage a portal to work with your trainer and reference your plan and goals there. - They did not tell us there would be a registration fee charged on top of our training sessions either. I saw this charge on our cc statement later. After my first training session, I learned the sessions are 30 mins, my trainer had no idea about any portal or nutrition planning, and that freezing is a one-time option, for a fee, that extends your term length. I also learned it would cost me over $1,000 and my partner hundreds to cancel my subscription after 3 days. I messaged Elevate's Support email as per the agreement stating "cancellation requests must be submitted to this email..." They responded initially to say they will get back to me. Once I followed up to say I am concerned you are letting too much time lapse and my account will try to renew - she responded, and I have this in writing from Elevate, to say they will "honor the original date my cancellation request was submitted." Since then, I have not heard from their support desk and it has been over two full months since I submitted my cancellation request. Their billing dept continues to contact us. The billing folks told me they have no way of reaching Elevate and I have to keep emailing Support. They told me that both of our accounts will be sent to Collections unless we make more payments or the people ignoring me will have to acknowledge my cancellation request and change the status. Otherwise, they eventually send us to collections. I have tried emailing the various emails that come in asking for updated payment - ClubReady, Elevate, Tech Ridge, etc. - explaining this again and again. No one has reached out. I have been emailing them for over two months. When I saw Hunter at the gym, he had already heard something was wrong and we talked. I find it upsetting that my Support contact got to his ears, but no one has the business conduct or professional courtesy to reach out. He listened to me, acknowledged that he lied about session length and cancellation policy, apologized to me for being deceptive, (it seemed sincere); and said he would personally see to it his boss wraps up our cancellation request. He even whips out his phone and [pretends to?] text this alleged person. Since that convo, he avoided me a few subsequent times and then left to train his sales method at other gym locations. Look at their reviews on Yelp, many people experience billing issues after canceling. They've recommended more honest gyms. I am tremendously disheartened by my experience. read more

Stayed during the mask and glove era. I now live near the Lake Creek location, and would love to know when and if, Lake Creek will adapt to similar working hours to Tech Ridge. I still give FC a positive review based on individuals who have been there a while. However, there is a gentleman named Michael who is in charge of the personal trainers. This is the type of person who brings a very negative feeling to the gym. He never smiles and, something I find unforgivable, he seems to target my personal trainer and has even been a d..k to her in my presence. To get pissed at her because we were using a piece of equipment he had abandoned and come back to seems a little vindictive, childish and unprofessional. I had the most insane ordeal at this gym that I've experienced. My friend is a member and has been a member for a while. They invited me as a guest expecting to be there for about an hour, not even using the equipment. So pay attention if you EVER plan on inviting a friend or guest: The process is that they will not let a guest in because "people have been abusing the guest pass". Ok, I can get that and respect that. However the guest process is that if you want to bring a guest, the guest must sit through the ENTIRE sales pitch process and take the tour and the whole thing. About 30 mins. And also must schedule a follow up sales pitch as well. Or they can buy a day pass which costs more than a month pass, which you can also buy but with the month pass you must, of course, go through the entire sales process. Their sales process is very much similar to a timeshare or MLM sales program. So if you want to put your friend in that kind of awkward situation when they come visit, then this is the place for you. Just so you know though, 24 Hour Fitness and Lifetime Fitness do not have the same process as this and are much nicer gyms. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Big yikes! I've been a member at the Austin Tech Ridge location for 19 months. Staff is great but limited by corporate. Equipment maintenance is handled by corporate. My last visit I counted 13 pieces of equipment or stations with the Out of Order tag on them. Some machines have been down for 2 weeks. Adding insult to injury, this month they "renewed me" at a 50% increase in my base rate. Funny, I did not sign an agreement on that price....and given the poor quality of equipment, I need to start looking for another gym read more

I have been a member for close to 4 years and this is the first time I encountered a frustrating experience. This new staff member was literally behind me saying I am slamming weights. That was literally my first set of leg press. After sometime, he comes and says we are closed . I understand the gym closes at 10. I was done with my workout and just finding my song to play. He is not bothered about the other people who are working out besides me. Then he tailgates me and ask for my information. I want to preface this by saying I really enjoy my elevate training sessions, and I've seen so much progress. Unfortunately though, I don't feel the same about fitness connection as a whole. After having my stuff stolen from the gym a few months back with no offer for reimbursement, and an interaction I had last night, I just don't feel as though fitness connection is right for me. A man was ego lifting on the assisted pull ups, got off the machine and went to a different one. I went to get on the assisted pull-ups and he wouldn't let me get on. I asked to work in, and he ignored me. I then told him he was taking away from the other members, who also pay fees. A gentleman that works for the gym then stepped in. The man wouldn't let me talk. The man lied to gym staff and said that I was "going crazy on him" and lied about the whole interaction. I told him to keep the machine and then I went to do cardio. I then saw the man get off the machine again. I went to use it, he then prevented me from getting on the machine again. I got Max involved. He heard both our sides. Long story short, they allowed the man to keep using the machine. Max said he "didn't want to cause a scene" in the gym. I was the one who then felt like leaving. I don't appreciate gym intimidation, let alone misogynistic language. I no longer wish to be a member and from what I hear, it's a headache to get out of a membership. read more

I've been coming to this specific Fitness Connection for about a year and a half now and I can honestly say, it's the best gym I've been to in the 11 years since I've started working out I have the base membership which is $11.00 a month. They have a tremendous amount of different machines (probably 150+ if not more), they have so much equipment that there's a 2nd level just for cardio, the space feels like the size of Costco, they keep it pretty clean, they offer free trials for not just using the gym, but even for personal training, and all of the personal trainers I've met are wonderful people. I can't speak to anyone else's experiences, but the staff is very sociable and friendly when I'm there, they have an insane amount of amenities (Sauna's, rentable lockers, showers, specific workout rooms, basketball court, they offer classes, kids club area), and the energy in this gym is always lively. I'm not really sure why there are so many negative/low reviews which is why I'm leaving mine Their hours are posted online, if they don't work for you then find a gym that does? ‍ The basic membership is $11.00. Streaming services, like Netflix, have more expensive plans than that In terms of an annual fee, every gym I've been to for the last 11 years has an annual fee and they're pretty direct about it. This gym told me about their fee when I signed up. Every now and then, I'll see a few machines (usually 1-3) that are out of service, but they're usually fixed within a week or two. But like... That's what happens when a piece of equipment is used. It becomes... Used And again, there's at least 150 different machines/equipment to use and multiple variations/options to do your workout. Of course there are some members that come to the gym that are on their phones too long, socializing, don't clean equipment after using it, or are just being weird, but that's any gym you go to ‍ Plus, it's not the gyms fault people suck some times I've seen some members that are upset at how many people there are at peak hours... I mean... Yeah, that's why it's called "peak" hours Again, there's not much gyms can do about that ‍ In terms of some people complaining about the restrooms, there are times when one or more stalls are out of service, but again, it's not the gyms fault that members are, for some reason, destroying the bathrooms And usually, they're fixed within a week. I've seen a lot of one star reviews about the "Mask/Glove" policy, I think this was during COVID... I don't think these policies apply anywhere in 2024 I even read a review where it said one of the staffs' laugh was loud, so they gave this place 1 star... Like, what? In terms of canceling, It seems a lot of the reviews concerning this were from years ago. From my experience, I walked up to one of the managers and said, "I need to cancel my membership." We walked into their office, they turned the screen to me and said, "Ok." They got my number, clicked "cancel," and then we had a great conversation for a while. I even got an email with a PDF in regard to the change. So... It was pretty simple and direct for me All in all, I'd highly recommend this gym. Most of the members are good people, all of the staff that I've talked to, like Kennedy and Lorenzo, are genuinely honest and great to talk to. New management changed the dynamic. I had membership for years, but suddenly they only accept guests from certain cities, BUT perfectly willing to accept if guest is paying. Allegedly this is to prevent overcrowding, during a time when the gym wasn't crowded AT ALL! Customer service is no longer a concept. I cancelled my membership because it used to be a quality gym with good service and friendly environment. New manager even said if she had been there she wouldn't have let my mother be my guest when she visited from out of town. Absolute trash! Beware! This place is an absolute rip off. My teenage son joined over two years ago. He stopped going, and called to cancel his membership several months ago. They informed him that he must come in in person and sign documents to cancel his membership. so, they continued to bill every month. He went in, signed the doc documents, and canceled his membership. Yet, they continue to bill each month. When I called to find out why, they said that discontinuing billing takes at least 30 days. So, they committed to stopping the billing. I have just been billed again! They make their money by getting your credit card and continuing to bill you even though you have canceled your membership. I'm trying out all of the gyms in the Cedar Park area and this was my last gym to try out, and probably my least favorite. The biggest pro is definitely the price! The cheapest membership option around. I also really liked the womens area, it was just a little busy and I wish it were larger. The cardio theatre was pretty cool. The cons of this gym for me was the sauna, location, and the busy-ness. It's a really big gym which was just overwhelming to me, but some people really like that. The same reason I'm not a huge fan of Lifetime. The womens locker room was packed, and I even tried to go at a later hour (9pm) in hopes it wouldn't be busy. But maybe this gym has different "busy" hours. The reason I didn't like the sauna is that it smelled sooo weird to me. It felt old and a little gross. I'm a part of Golds Gym and their sauna is 10x better. Finally, I didn't love the location. Not as nice of an area. I'm sure it's perfectly safe. But I get nervous working out late alone. Staff is lazy and basically hangs out at the front desk. Equipment is broken or have parts missing making it non-functional. Gym itself is fine. Staff can be overbearing and annoying. Biggest reason not to sign up here is the enormous annual fee and the fact the you have to give 30 days notice to cancel so they charge u an extra month even after you have cancelled. They also changed the rules of my membership and many amenities that were opened to me when I signed up were no longer available unless I got a more expensive membership. I also waited on hold for 25 minutes when the wait time was only three and the staff that helped me cancel was very unfriendly and rude when I had questions. read more

I have been a member of this gym since before the doors opened and they were taking sign-ups in the parking lot. I have seen this gym go through a lot of iterations and overall - I feel like it is still a lot of value for the price. I even kept my membership (and my husband's) without pausing during the pandemic even though we didn't go for almost 2 years as I didn't want the business to suffer and close. Cons: - They took away a lot of the dance classes and these are really the best cardio option for me (someone who gets too bored on a treadmill). There is only one dance class now (which is a really good class) on Tuesdays at 6:30pm - Like most gyms, gets really crowded M-F from 5-7pm or so Pros: - Incredible and friendly staff - Lots of machines, especially cardio - Women's only area with strength and cardio machines - Huge group fitness room - Machines gets fixed quickly I know a lot of the reviews are about the cancelation process which I have yet to undergo, but I wanted to give a valid review about the actual gym experience. read more

I'm so glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. I was expecting the worst when I was walking in, but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the space and the equipment was, and for how many options there were for each machine to work out a certain muscle group. Given, I don't live in Austin full-time, I come in for work for a month at a time, so it might not be my home gym if this is where I was 365 and was seeking something more luxurious, but it serves its purpose. I can only guess that the negative reviews are coming from people that have never lived in a larger metro area where gyms cost $150+ a month, are a quarter of the size and with about a dozen health code violations. It was the worst experience of my life. I went to get the five day trial pass because I'm in desperate need of a gym. After about an hour and 45 minutes I was specifically told that I needed to get the actual membership I kept mentioning to the Hispanic lady with highlights that I was just there to try it out. She kept telling me how was I gonna know if I liked it within a week? I told her after two or three days I would feel the vibe if I liked it or didn't like it at all. She was very rude and demanding she kept arguing with me over the trial pass. I finally told her I felt like I was being integrated by all the questions and peer pressure she was giving off. I finally told her that I was just going to leave because I was so frustrated and why was it such a big deal if I just wanted to do the trial? I literally wanted to cry over how frustrated I was I told her that she could keep the five day pass and I was leaving. I had an anxiety attack in the parking lot literally!!!! I had to fight and argue just to try out the gym!!! The next best gym to me is crunch fitness in Cedar Park, which is 30 minutes away from where I live with being so desperate to get in the gym I decided to go back to fitness connection and get a membership since overall, it is the closest location for me. I was like screw it I might as well just get the membership if it's the only way I can try it out. So my first day I go to the gym and I bring my friend with me for support and they made us wait at the front and told me somebody would be with us. After a while that same lady came out and she was like hi would you like to get a membership to my friend and my friend was like no I actually have a membership. I'm just coming with my friend. It's her first day starting her journey, I was gonna show her some workouts . The lady was so rude and told her she had to get her own gym membership. I kindly told her that in my membership I was able to bring a friend that's what I paid for. She legit looked at my friend and told her if she worked out with me today that she couldn't come back till four months. And was very angry about her not getting a membership she kept telling her she could have 2 gyms ! Mind you my friend was just there for support she knows what I have going on with my health. And drove from round rock just to support me. As soon as she said all that my friend looked at me and she was like girl, I'm sorry this is not the vibe like I'm walking out. I then told the lady that that was not explained to me and I was gonna just go ahead and cancel my membership for how rude she was not only to me the day before, but also to my friend. She was like OK yeah you can do that at the counter. She rolled her eyes and walked away and started laughing. This was the most inconvenient situation I have ever delt with . I canceled the membership and sadly I'm still on the hunt for a gym i would rather drive the 30 mins to cedar park then ever step foot in that gym ever again. read more

Great gym! Jordan and Lorenzo are great guys, happy I have this gym. Sauna is excellent and all the equipment is superb.
