I came across a Facebook ad for an F45 "Free 6-Week Comeback Challenge." Since I'm on a health…read morejourney, I thought, "Okay, something different. Let me check it out." The second I filled out the form, I got a call. Lots of questions, which was fine, but my first red flag was when I asked about pricing and how the "free" challenge worked. Before I could finish my question, the subject changed. I was told pricing varies by person, but nobody would explain the free part. I scheduled an appointment anyway because I wanted to see what the hype was about. Before the appointment, I got several texts, including one asking what type of protein shake I wanted. Remember that part for later. When I arrived, it was so dark I wasn't sure anyone was there. I filled out paperwork that mostly repeated the questions I had already answered over the phone. Then I saw a question that said: "If you are not the primary financial decision-maker, please reschedule with your spouse present." Red flag number two. Immediately I thought, "This is about to be a sales pitch." I never got a tour. Nobody explained the classes or how the workouts worked. Instead, I was taken to the back and questioned about my health journey. I explained that I've successfully lost weight before, work with a dietitian, and that my biggest struggle lately has simply been motivation due to some personal things that started around December. The response? Basically, everything I was doing "wasn't working." Wait a damn minute. I've only been struggling for a few months. I wasn't there because I don't understand nutrition or exercise. I wanted to see if group fitness would help with motivation and accountability. Then my dietitian started getting discredited despite him knowing almost nothing about her recommendations or my situation. Every explanation somehow got met with, "Well, it's not working." The facility itself appeared clean at least I think it did. The lights were never fully turned on, so I was basically evaluating the gym in mood lighting . Thankfully my iPhone can make a dark room look like it has light. Then we got to pricing. The "free" six-week challenge was suddenly around $699 and included coaching, classes, meal plans, body scans, and other services. My immediate thought was: Where exactly was the free part? The conversation The second option required an upfront payment, a 12-month commitment, and weekly payments. I explained that I don't make financial decisions on the spot. I like to go home, think about it, compare options, and then decide. That wasn't received very well. The conversation became more about getting me to commit than helping me determine whether the program was a good fit. At one point I was basically told I could either commit or keep doing what I was doing which apparently "wasn't working." Then came the final straw. I was told women spend money on hair, nails, and shopping and could redirect those funds toward fitness. Sir... You don't know me. I budget carefully, and even if I did spend money that way, that's none of your business. Before leaving, I asked if I could observe a class. The answer was no because apparently if people leave, they don't come back. And looking at a class is not going to determine anything. No trial was offered now I see several trial offers online for lower than what I was offered which was nothing Funny thing is, I'm exactly the type of person who leaves, sleeps on a decision, researches it, and then comes back if it makes sense. In the end, I chose not to join. My issue isn't that they charge for services. My issue is advertising a "Free 6-Week Comeback Challenge" and then presenting expensive packages without clearly explaining costs upfront. Ironically, the experience motivated me just not in the way they intended. It reminded me that I've reached my goals before and I can do it again. Oh, and remember that protein shake he texting me about? Yeah... nobody ever offered it when I got there. Guess we both left disappointed False advertising at its finest.

Update! 22 months later... My son started Corespeed summer…read moreof 6th grade. He's now in 8th grade. Transformation did not happen over night. It took a lot of discipline for both of us, there were many days when he felt like he just wanted to nap or a break. Some days his asthma triggered bad but there's no excuse unless if he ran a fever. Mr. inhaler became his best friend. Consistency became a habit, we got results...his speed improved from 1.8 seconds to 1.69 seconds, he's now pushing 320lbs of pure weight and I am so blessed we found Corespeed!! Trust the process

(although she has arrangements for drop ins if that's your style) 5) It's a manageable commitment for a busy person as it's only 1 hour a day and it only takes me 5 minutes to get there! 6)Enjoy her playlist which she changes quit often which makes me more happy to dance for a new number. 7) It's great company. The classes are max 7 or 8, sometimes smaller, and generally all women. Lots of moms. Great conversation every time. 8) There's an on-line scheduler so it's easy to to check on your class for the day. 9) Sonia is a great person! 10) Sonia is an awesome trainer! I've been twice, both times on a ClassPass credit, my friend who has a membership toggles between frequenting the Triangle and Domain location as we both work up north, and she loves it. I'm a bit more chill, laid back and these days doing workouts, wanting to challenge myself and dedicate time to putting myself first, trying boutique studios with mega reformers, which are daunting and offer friendly coaches and great playlists that hit. The first time I showed up here, was on a lunch workday session, where the instructor showed up 1 minute before class started? I didn't get an overview of understanding cues, format and studio sessions groundwork of how the classes should go, winged it and copied and tried to follow what my friend was doing. A lot of people standing around wondering what to do, which was such a strange vibe. It was rushed and ended later too since we're behind but I thought to try again once more. Today I had a session with coach Kendall and she brought the vibes and energy to cheer me along! I loved it, plus with this 7am Saturday class being extra gloomy and grey outside, she was so fun and offered a friendly newbie where to go, and frequent hands on correction, all the things you'd expect from a studio for the price point and smaller class size. I don't think this is the workout for me tho - the classes in the studio are extra loud, dark and the blue lights are dim like a club lol - which if you're into making the class a night out but for improving your fitness, this is it. For my mid 30's self in my mom suburban chill life, maybe not so much ha :) All around I still had a very challenging time, and appreciated that the 50 mins flew by!

The gym gets the job done but they have a severe lack of equipment and much of the equipment is…read moreused and abused. They only have a single bench for bench press. It's usually in use. It's also disgusting and unsanitary how many guys work out there shirtless getting insane amounts of sweat on everything. Finally, and most frustrating, it's hard to get in. There should be an easy way to get in during normal business hours, but that's not the case. I went here for about two years because I liked using the hockey rink for sprint workouts and farmers carry and sled pushes, but they removed most of it and the space isn't that functional anymore. Most of the time, there are small children running around making things like squats tricky because they just show up next to you. They love to say it's $20/mo but that's basically the same price as the local Gold's and Anytime Fitness. Mostly the low rating is because they won't let me cancel my membership. I've moved out of state, and they want me to go in person to cancel. I've called and left messages, sent emails, and I continue to get emails asking for payment.
