Do NOT join this gym, take your business elsewhere! I have been a member for many years but I will be moving soon. I talked to the front desk personnel and management about the stairmaster machines on the second floor for months and the deteriorate and neglected equipments. Until this date, I haven't seen any solutions. Out of the six stairmaster machines only TWO are barely functioning. The other ones have sings that they are not working or are under maintenance (which is all lies because they never fix them). One day I almost fell from the stairmaster because the machine was not functioning properly even though they "fixed" it. They have become a safety hazard for everyone! These machines are rusty... I even got my tetanus shot just in case I ended up getting hurt by these machines. This is ridiculous, I hope that just like the way they get my gym membership fees from my bank every month, they fix the six stairmaster machines from the second floor! read more

I had one month since I join here I notice the gym was almost empty in the morning which is good for me, but I started noticing that they did not have dumbbells from 10lb through 40lb. I ask the stuff multiple times when are they getting new ones. One told me that they order them already others told me they are organizing them to count them and make order or women take them to there personal area for workout. Honestly this gym is not worth your time and money. Planet fitness seems to be the move if they don't get what is needed. This used to be my home Fitness Connection until I moved to Sugarland. Even though there's usually busted glass from broken car windows in the lot I still enjoy this FC. I come during the day or mornings. I love the movie room. It keeps my mind off working out while working out. The theatre room has been out of service a few times that I came but was fixed within a week or so. I'm a teacher so I have the summer off and I brought my son to this Fitness Connection instead of my regular one and the Kids Club was full. Such an inconvenience. I wish I would have just went to the Fitness Connection closer to me. I have never had this problem. Our usual gum sometimes has two workers in the Kids Club. This FC hits capacity at 10 Kids. How do you provide service of kid watch to a gym of 100's and only take 10 kids? Luckily my parents live near so I was able to drop him off and come back to work out. Make amenities great again! Literally the worst gym. Don't waist your time the equipment is always broken and the gym is always packed. Most gyms allow you to use the room that they hold classes in as long as they don't have a class going on, this one doesn't. It's a small gym it doesn't make sense to not allow paying members to use the room when unoccupied. The manager is also rude af. I wish I could post videos I have a video of FIVE stair master machines that were all down at the same time. Literally only one stair master works. A bunch of the treadmills don't work the speed is inaccurate and the incline doesn't work on many of them. I have multiple videos proving this gym is shit. You'll get a better workout at home. I only go to this facility to use the basketball courts, and to represent. The game is still on. There is usually a pretty big crowd and competition is intense. They do have 2 full court courts available. I have not used their workout equipment but there is a pretty good quantity available. They also have a large selection of treadmills and elliptical machines available to work out and they do provide an advance features. This facility does not have a swimming pool, however they do have gymnastic rooms and different classes are offered. You can check out their website to see what the schedule is. They also have a sauna, but I haven't seen it yet. Also, on their website you can get a 5 day free pass, if you want to check out the facility. They have locker room, however I noticed that bathrooms are not equipped with paper towels to dry hands after using faucet. They have those machines, which probably shows their commitment towards eco friendly. They do offer personal training sessions. I am not impressed by their staff though. I have yet to meet one individual who smiled and was actually friendly. They all seem pretty occupied conversing with themselves etc, but that is least of my worries. Like I mentioned before, my prime and only reason is to play basketball, which I get to use and for the price of the monthly membership, it is definitely worth it. read more

Not a bad place for me. It's close to my house, it's open late/early, and it has enough weights for me. The parking is a decent size as it can get full in peak hours, the weight room can be annoying as people do not put their weights back and the workers rarely put it back too. In terms of cleanliness it's good as the custodians always clean and wipe the area. read more

I've been coming here for about seven months now, and it's been fine. Not great, but not bad either. It's a big space with a lot of free weights and cardio machines. There's a basketball court and a movie room too. You get a free personal training session when you sign up for a membership. I didn't end up extending the training, but it was cool to work it with a professional and learn some new exercises. My only issue is that there is often issues with water, wifi, or some other part of the infrastructure. The weeks when the water fountains didn't work were terrible, but they eventually got it fixed. Then there was a period where there were no paper towels. If they can get things like that under control, then I'd really have no complaints. read more

Customer service is minimal. Manager at the front counter continued to carry on conversation even though employee told him several times she needed assistance. I saw a sign posted that they are hiring assistant manager, instructor and for daycare positions also. Pasadena location is better plus the location is upgrading their equipment. I put one star because I had no option to leave none. I woke up this morning, prayed, and headed to the gym, I'm saying this to say my morning started off positive and I was having a good morning. I entered the gym and scanned my card per usual but today I was stopped by the young hispanic female at the counter whom stated I had a balance. I proceeded to go back to the counter and I asked why because my bill automatically comes out every month. She said that they were unable to take the bill out last month and they added a late fee plus my annual fee. I had no problem with paying but I was confused of why it wasn't automatically taken out (this is the second time this has happened at this location). The lady then looked at me and said "Like I said" very unprofessional! I never experienced something like this and I was shocked and I asked her who was she talking to, I asked for the manager and when he arrived I cancelled my membership, he was very nonchalant and just stood next to the young lady as if she was right. FIND ANOTHER GYM!!! I was unable to attend classes because my job and ended up getting transferred so I tried to cancel my account. I did so on line and was told online that my membership was canceled. Fast forward to the present I was charged two months of gym fees to a gym I cannot attend. This coming Monday I will have to try to get my money back and the account closed. My advice DO NOT JOIN THIS ORGANIZATION! I tried contacting them this weekend to discuss and was eventually disconnected. I will try the headquarters and if need legal counseling. Update: I called they told me you have to give 30 day warning to cancel your membership and because my payment was late( I deleted my card information, but they found it) they charge me a late fee. I would drive the extra miles to go this fitness connection when I have my daughter . All because the Kids Center is a lot better then the one on Hwy 6. The ladies in there does a great job with the babies . I peak my head in when my lil girl is there everyone once in a while. Honestly i like this gym, i've never had a problem with anything. I'm pushing for over a year membership now and i love the staff. Idk what all these ppl complaining about. I'd say read a contract completely before signing up for a year contract that is on paper..... secondly yes.... you do have to check out weights from the front desk . why????? cause gym members always stealing these weights so it's understandable that the staff is moving differently when giving out weights or other equipment.. LASTLY, yes during peak hours which is weekends between times of 9-11am & weekdays of hours 5-7ish pm it's gonna be pretty busy and hectic. So if you hate packed environments i'd try to come at other times than that... cause it can be a hassle... but i think that's any gym tbh ???? . Honestly you not gonna find a good deal gym anywhere else tbh... not at this price. other gyms charge like $50+ dollars monthly not including signing up fees and annual fees etc... I normally come to this location to work out and because the price is right but I have encounter something a lil bazaar that I cannot wrap my finger around. This review has nothing to do with the facility but more so of corporate itself! So I called them to try to DOWNGRADE my membership from $22 a month to $10 I was trying to save money. I was told in order to DOWNGRADE I had to pay a fee of $100!!! That makes no sense at all so I have to pay 10 months in advance to get downgraded on top of that I'm trying to save money but yet u tell me to pay $100 I don't understand. This review is based on about 6 visits to this location to attend Zumba classes. Based on the other Yelp reviews, I'm glad I haven't had to deal with the management or membership services divisions at this location. I have automatic access to this gym through my insurance's fitness program membership (if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield, log into your account online & check it out!!!! -- their fitness program is pretty sweet & a great deal at $25/month... includes both LA Fitness and Fitness Connection, as well as other smaller gym chains in the Houston area & many gyms nationwide for those who travel). This review is just for the Zumba classes. Keyla is an awesome Zumba teacher. As far as I know, she teaches Tuesday mornings and Friday mornings. Keyla is fun and energetic, and she encourages the class to get into it by yelling and singing during certain parts of some songs. She makes you sweat like crazy, and her classes can be pretty high impact if you want them to be (but if you want them to be lower or moderate impact, you can easily modify them to your desired level too). Excellent cardio workout. The group fitness room is pretty large and has plenty of mirrors and an elevated front stage/platform so that you can more easily see & follow the instructor. There are even 2 large ceiling fans in the room, as well as some others in the main part of the gym. However, despite this there have still been some days where the classroom got so humid and warm (from all the sweaty dancing people) that the mirrors started fogging up. read more

Out of all of the fitnesss connections I visit for work, this is one of the better locations. The hours suck because they aren't 24, so if you want a very early morning work out like me, it is difficult to get in and get started when you need to. The weight rack is incredibly disorganized. I know this is partly on the members, but come on. If you are going to close down every night, then the weights should be organized when I arrive right when you open. Other than that it is really not bad in the mornings. It's not too crowdedearly in the morning, and getting to equipment is pretty easy. The one real praise I have for the place is the size of the sauna. It is nice and open, and probably a good four feet wider than other fitness connection locations. It makes it nice for stretching out after a workout. read more

This location is relatively clean, which is good. However it is horribly unorganized. The dumbbells and free weights are always is the wrong place and you'll be lucky if you actually get the ones you need. You'll probably spend most of your time looking for the weights you need. Lets start from broken machines, they dont even fix them for weeks, I have to go to counter and ask for lower weight dumbbells from 5lbs to 15 lbs, and employees ignoring me and had me waiting such as waste of time. Fitness Connection cheated me of $23.82. Although $23.82 is not a lot of money, it was MY money. And during these lean economic times, every dollar is valuable to me. I contacted their Customer Service line repeatedly, only to be put off and told that due to the indefinite closure of the gym, I would need to call back when they open. Even after they opened, they refused to refund me and left me no recourse for satisfaction. If I could give them '0' stars I would. Here is my story: I had contacted the gym prior to widespread COVID-19 closures (either late Feb. or early March). I wanted to cancel my membership because I rarely used the gym and my budget required I get rid of any unnecessary monthly charges I could. The CSR at their 800# told me to go online, submit a cancellation. She also informed me that even though I contacted them prior to the next automatic deduction from my debit card, they would extract one more payment of $23.82 for March. To compensate for the extra payment, I could visit the gym for 30 days after my cancellation date. On March 16, they deducted the final $23,82 for my dues. THE VERY NEXT DAY, FITNESS CONNECTION SENT AN EMAIL TO ALL MEMBERS SAYING EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THEY WERE CLOSING ALL LOCATIONS DUE TO COVID-19 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This was March 17. Ironically, the gym closure date fell on the next day after my dues were deducted, therefore I could not take advantage of the 30-day access to using the gym. I attempted to get the problem resolved by calling to see when the gym would open, but each person I spoke with had no answers and kept telling me to call back. This continued past what would have been my 30-day period to use the facilities. I was finally able to reach a person at the 800# and the CSR was sympathetic to my situation, yet she had no solution for me. Since the time I cancelled my Fitness Connection membership in March, I have been laid off from the job I was working at when I joined FC. I would use the gym because it was near my job. I do not live anywhere close to the gym and I am still unemployed. When I spoke with the CSR, I asked for a refund of my $23.82, as I no longer wish to use the gym. Circumstances have changed since March and going to the gym would be an inconvenience and of no use to me. Additionally, there has been a big time lag in when I last worked out and I am unable to afford rejoining due to my present unemployment. The CSR I spoke with said she was working from home, so she emailed her supervisor to see if a resolution could be reached. The supervisor was named Martha Velazquez. The CSR said her reply was that Fitness Connection would not give me a refund of my funds, despite the fact that the COVID-19 unusual circumstances should have allowed an exception to their policy. I asked if I could speak to the supervisor (Velazquez). The CSR instead gave me her email address. I emailed Ms. Velazquez and she did not even acknowledge my request. Last week, I attempted one more time to reach someone at Fitness Connection's corporate office to refund me the $23.82 I am owed. I spoke with a very nice CSR who also sympathized with my situation. During the call, he emailed 2 supervisors to get a resolution. After a long conversation and hold time, he told me that they both refused to refund me the $23.82 and I would have access to the gym until June 15. Not only will they not refund me, they added insult to injury by giving me a little over 2 weeks (not 30 days) to use the facilities. I have never been so blatantly disrespected as a customer. I had plans to return to Fitness Connection at some point (once I resume work and the issue of this COVID pandemic allows a level of safety), but I will NEVER return. My money will be better spent on a company that respects and appreciates me as valued customer. read more

I love the convenience of this gym as I don't like driving far to where I need to work out. There are plenty of machines, a women's workout room, a sauna, basketball court, a kids club, etc...just to name a few things. They get pretty busy after 5pm. I prefer going when they open in the mornings as they are not busy and you can get in a pretty good workout. I am not sure about the staff as I try my best to have as little interaction with them as possible. As a somewhat new member please make sure to get all the details of your contract and make sure you understand the fees and what you are signing as I have also had issues with my billing with them. read more

I definitely don't see them cleaning, hwoever, the cleaning stations are always stocked so you can do it yourself before you use the equipment. When the general manager(Sina) was notifed of the rude behavior he in so many words accused me of lying. The gym itself isn't so bad but the staff and management make it terrible. I gave this place 4/5 simply due to the kid's club. The check in process is so outdated to me. Why am I writing my information down in a sign in book? You need a key card to enter and workout, so why can't that same key card be scanned to check in your child? All they have to do is have 2/3 computers set up to where it can just scan our card and the child can be entered in. If it is peak time, be ready to wait outside of the kids' club with a line. That's it's only downfall to me. Now as for the facility, great. There are plenty of machines available. I myself enjoy the theater room with the cardio equipment. I came here to do cardio about one hour and about to leave . One guy I believed who work at the gym, came and took my headphone and blamed that I stole from him, and run away. I was paused for seconds then luckily I stopped him and took my headphone back. However the manager there who named Aldo saavedra took my headphone (wireless beat), I asked why, and asked to call the police. The manager did not even stop or questioned that guy who named Jose. Later I found out because they all friends and know each other. The manager was so rude and unprofessional, and discrimination. I asked him his business card and asked him " why you let this happen in your gym?", he did not answer my questions. Before the police came l, I found my headphone receipt and showed it to Aldo but he still not returned my headphone. The police came and saw my receipt and requested the manager gave it back to me. This afternoon I attempted to get a membership at this Fitness Connection location. I spoke at length with the General Manager, and ultimately left without a membership. It is important to note that the "real" gym with squat racks/flat bench setups is NOT open yet - it is due to "open by the end of the month." For now, the location is mainly machines, light dumbbells, and cardio equipment. The General Manager told me that for coming in for the first time, the "standard enrollment fee of $199 will be dropped to $50, but only if you enroll today." OK - typical pressure sale, which is normal in this industry. The GM was even nice enough to tell me I could pay the enrollment fee in installments, as I am a lower income student. I was quite interested in a membership at this time, but only once the real gym opened with the equipment I needed. I told the GM "I would love to start coming here, but only when the full location opens in a few weeks. Can I get a call when that location opens and start then?" His response? "Well then the enrollment would be $199 because this is a special for your first time coming." I tried to explain that I really would like to enroll, but I am not looking to pay for the small selection of equipment they currently have, but rather I would like to wait a few weeks to begin my membership at the larger location. He told me there is absolutely no room to budge -- I had to begin paying the enrollment and membership today if I wanted to avoid the $199 enrollment fee. I argued that I am not willing to pay for this location, but I really want to become a member at the full location, but there was no way I could afford the full enrollment fee. He told me that there was nothing he could do. I said "if I come back when the full location opens and have $50 for enrollment in-hand, you will not take my money?" He informed me he would and that I would owe another $149. I did not get a membership today because of the poor customer service attitude held by Fitness Connection. I do not blame the GM for this, but rather the company policies. They would rather pressure sale me into a membership today (for a lesser gym) than allow me to wait a few weeks to begin a membership when their full location even opens.
