If it wasn't for the inexpensive monthly rate I would have walked out 5 minutes after the sales pitch. I don't know if the salespeople are that agressive, or if management pushes them too hard. The one hour it took to sign up with them was like trying to negotiate a used car. The salesperson was friendly, but pushed way too hard. They would be more successful not being so pushy. After being pushed very hard on their supplements (even after I told him I can't based on a thyroid condition I have) I tuned out the rest of the sales pitch. The salesman gave me a sheet of free workout passes for my friends but I would need to provide the salesperson with their names and contact numbers. After all I just went through I was not about to inflict that on my friends. Hell to the no. While the salesperson left me there in front of the free passes I was supposed to fill out, a personal trainer came and sat down offering me a free session. I politely turned it down because if I see one it is going to be on my terms and I do not want to feel obligated to purchase sessions for something I am really not into. Although I would benefit from a strict exercise regimen I am one of the rare people that go to the gym because I enjoy how I feel afterwards. Another trainer called me today trying to get me to have a session. I subsequently blocked the gym number. It is ridiculous. If you can get over the initial sales meeting you will enjoy the gym. They have a lot of machines, a women's center (which is nice when the weight area is filled with a bunch of guys), and a huge cardio room. Everything looked clean and parking was abundant. This gym is definitely a step up from 24 hour fitness in regards to amenities. I am sure the sales team is taught to be agressive, but there's a point where the sales pitch backfires and that is what happened with me. I got so irritated with the whole process I just wanted to get out of there as quick as I could after I paid my initiation fee. If I could put 0 stars I would. The staff was extremely unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable when I was trying to redeem a free pass. They talked down to me and basically held my driver's license hostage while they essentially forced me to choose a plan to pay for (by the way they were trying to make me pay a $250 enrollment fee!). I was visiting family in the Woodlands and wanted to get a short term pass to a gym. The Fitness Connection was perfect. I wanted to do some classes and have access to the other equipment. I was able to get a 2 week pass at a reasonable price. I could attend any of the classes, which I took full advantage of. The instructors and desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The facility, equipment and exercise rooms were clean and in good operating condition. I would definitely go there again on my next visit to the area. read more

The place is cheap and well equipped. overcrowded and worn out. For budget fitness recommended as long asyou stay away from the personal training. Trainers are not qualified and with high turmover. This is not one of those gyms "to be seen at". It is for a good work out and has a large variety of well maintained equipment. I also enjoy the extremely large over head fans which do an excellent job of keeping the air moving. The staff is friendly. For the price it is a bargain. read more

Eek! The salesman at this location are very rude! I had an experience not too long ago where one of the salesman stopped me on my way out and hassled me for contact numbers AFTER i told him I had to be somewhere in a hurry. He then insisted that it was mandatory to give out my friend's contact information while there were other members just walking past us. He explained to me after I asked him why he didn't stop them for numbers that they already gave out contact numbers and that he singled me out because I didn't do it yet. LIES. There is no way to enforce knowing who gave out contacts and who didn't. How would they even know if I was from The Woodlands location or even another location? Sure, the cost of membership is cheap, but the quality of the staff was unacceptable. I quit my membership soon after. Instead of gaining more costumers, they lost one. Good job. read more

The rating would be negative stars if it was an option. We've been members for two years. Great price to ruin your credit and get abused by kids at the front desk. They have a great sales staff to reel you in. I signed my whole family up: myself, wife, and two teenagers. Service: Staff turn over is fairly high, and you would see a set of texting teenagers replaced by another set weekly. One morning, my wife accidentally picked up my daughter's tag, and a texting teenager tried to confiscate it, and threaten to charge us $100.00 for using an invalid tag. We are listed at the same address, and knew all of the private information for my wife and daughter's account. After 15 minutes of arguing with a kid, we lost our appetite for fitness. Product: We purchased some of their health products, and realized the price was a bargain because they were expired. When we returned it, they exchanged it for a second lot of expired product. We waited 45 minutes for them to fish for acceptable product. It was mostly waiting for the manager who was busy doing a sales pitch, and the teenagers did not know what to do. We eventually gave up, and settled for a refund, which did not post. They later mixed up the bad product as free samples. I witness members get sick the following days, and not come in for their regular routines. Cancellations: Following the easy instructions of writing a certified letter to cancel your membership does not guarantee it gets processed. Our kids lost their key tags over time, and we paid the $20 to have them replaced. They stopped going to the gym because they were leaving for college. When we sent our letters to cancel, we expected our memberships to be cancelled. The charges kept coming after 2 months. We were told that we needed to return the original tags. Our cancellation was not accepted, nor were we notified. We protested, so the girl just hung up on us. We tried another letter, and followed up with a call, and was told that we did not meet the terms of cancellation. There was no feed back instruction on what we needed to do to satisfy the terms. It just so happens that our credit card expired. We got an immediate call that week about non payment and was charged for the failure. The new person at the office said we needed to pay the fines before a new certified written cancellation letter could be accepted. read more

This gym sucks! The only good thing about this gym is I liked was the body pump and kickboxing classes. I love Crystal and Jamie's body pump and kickboxing class. They make the workout fun and I leave exhausted by the end of the class. I love them! They also show up and aren't late and don't cancel their class which irritates me because a lot of the other teachers are late and the schedule is never consistent and always changing. Those 2 classes are the only reason that was keeping me from quitting the gym and going somewhere else. The management there was horrible. I am always dealing with new management to. Why can't they keep it together. I have sent many people in to get signed up and the manager was disrespectful and they never came back. The gym is also very dirty. They need to clean it more. Signed up for fitness connection and trainers. Informed a trainer would call within a week. after 1 1/2 started to call regarding training and set up time. I even reached out to regional manager. Never did I get assigned a trainer, but I did find out they didn't have enough trainers to support the clients. Well, don't see an items you don't have inventory for. Tried to cancel training contract 1 year later still dealing with it, yet never did I hear from gym about actually assigning me a trainer. read more

Facility has numerous machines and weight area. That part is great. Cleanliness is the issue. The ceiling AC Filter has visible debris hanging from it. The gym itself is fine, but the main trainer guy is a scammer! He told us that we were paying for a few sessions and that the paper we were signing was to authorize use of our card to pay for the 150$ we were told. Next thing we know, a debt collection agency is calling us THREE WEEKS LATER! saying we owe $1100.00! They never once mentioned the words " monthly amount" or that we were signing up for 48 sessions!!!!!! When I contacted them about it, so far all i have received is run around. They gym is great, but dont use the trainers program unless you want to buy a WHOLE YEAR of it. read more

Works as a cheap place to workout, but when you try to cancel...good luck. They make you send a notarized letter with your contract to their corporate office. Who has time to do all that? Tried to cancel membership, told I had to pay for current month, have $0 balance, did that, called talked to staff at Houston office, gave her receipt numbers, said she would take care of cancelling my membership. Received phone call from FC trying to collect next months dues, said I had cancelled, they said cancellation was not in effect until the next month. They will turn me over to collections. I have had a mixed experience with fitness connection. The facility is nice, and clean and the child care is good. The negative is with the shyster type sales they do. I joined the first week of March. A friend had told me it was $10 a month. I received a flyer in the mail saying $10 a month. When I signed up it was $165 down and then $10 a month on top of that. Originally I signed up for a personal trainer, but on reviewing my finances I decided I could not afford it. I canceled the personal training the next day, but that was a big mess even though I followed the procedures outlined in the contract. They also claimed that they cannot refund credit card transactions at their site. They can only take money, not refund it. WHAT? I had to get my credit card company to file a dispute. Back to the Sign Up for just membership. They asked me if there were any other members of my family who would like to join. I said no. They then offered to let my family members have a free one month trial and they could quit at any time. So I signed up my husband and 2 daughters. Before the end of March I attempted to cancel their Free Membership, as they had not used it and were not interested. I was informed that you have to give 30 days notice on canceling, and that I would have to pay for April for them also you have to cancel online. So I did. The computer cancellation process was complicated, and made a mistake. It listed a phone number to call if there was an error, I called had to leave a message.I called several times and never got to speak to anyone and no one ever called me back. I just checked my credit card statement and they have now charged the annual fee for all 4 of us. $31.92 x4. So much for a free Trial membership. I have tried to call fitness connection and speak to a manager. I was put on hold, then some one hung up on me. If you go I would follow the advice given in the review by Ann M. These people are tricky and after blood. If they could be straight and honest it would be a good place. Also the weekday morning Zumba class instructor is always late or absent. I find this weird because usually that is with sign-up costs. Anyway, I called to speak to the manager and she told me that it is posted all around the gym. WOW! The so called "trainers" and "employees" jobs at this gym are nothing more than to get money from naive and misled customers, who they mislead. The actual "customer service" representatives that I spoke to were also very rude. The gym, near the woodlands, in general is not that nice. I would strongly suggest never ever joining this gym. This gym is a total ripoff. Really high pressure sales by a gang of their people. I told them exactly what I wanted and how I wanted to accomplish my goals. The next thing I know I was surrounded by sales people telling me that meeting with a trainer once a month was not possible, the least I could sign up for was $100/mo. for a weekly training session. I signed up out of duress and am now trying to figure out how to cancel it. I can't afford that! They oohed and aahed that they had never had anyone approved for such a low price. There was also a warning that the contract could not be canceled for the first year and if I tried, I would only get back one half of the money I owed them. The annual fee about $39.00 is collected sometime in July for everyone. This place is smarmy, gimmicky and next they want you to buy hundreds of dollars worth of nutritional supplements. I now have to go cancel my outrageous membership/ripoff/too expensive contract. Thanks to Tyler B's feedback I know what I'm in for. concerning fitness connection, it appears that other consumers have had the same issues i've had regarding cancellation of memberships. after calling corp. office to cancel, i was told to go ''in person'' to cancel. so i did. i was told that i had to give 30 days notice, so i did, and payed membership fees for the following month. they attempted to continue to charge my account for next 6 months! on each and every attempt i made to resolve their mistake with corp. office, i was talked to rudely and essentially called a liar. i had email cancellation documentation from them confirming my efforts , and was told they had no record of me cancelling, nor that i ever called to dispute their mistake. they have now sent my account to collections to tune of $300.00 plus. i will be exploring every consumer option available to right this wrong . This place has decent equipment and is not usually crowded but I have not enjoyed going there for several reasons: (1) The equipment is not properly cleaned. For instance, the treadmills are always covered in dried sweat globules. The cleaning staff seems to just wander around, doing nothing. (2) I am constantly harassed by trainers trying to get me to sign up for their services. I know how to work out, and I get free tips off the internet. I told them many times I do not need or want a trainer, yet they circle me like vultures when I am there. (3) They did not honor the "family price" deal they told me when I signed up. Essentially, the person who opened my account said I could later add my spouse at no extra sign-on fee; we would pay only the monthly fee under a "family account." When I inquired about setting that up, they said I'd have to pay another $169 just to add him to my account, on top of the regular monthly fees. (4) Finally, some of their front desk staff are unprofessional. I've called before, only to have them say, "Please hold" and then just hang up the phone! Also, one of the front desk people commented that my name was "weird". Who the heck says such rude things to other people?! What unprofessional ignorance!!! I know I can find a better facility with a better staff and I do not plan to remain a member at this place much longer. Don't waste your time and energy on this dump. Their recent renovations are not enough to make up for the terrible management and staff all around. read more
