Early morning workouts are great at this location. The people are super serious to get up at the crack of dawn. I booked a GTX class. It started on time and had the right amount of cardio and strength training. Gave me a good boost for work that day. I plan on incorporating more early morning workouts. I've been here one time years ago with a perk being part of Houston Moms. This place offered ONE DAY all day free visit. It was the best since I had little ones. Literally, it was the best place to be and I wanted to become a member for all the perks they offered. The one thing I felt sketchy about is the walk way that connected to a different part of the swimming area. Random men and women would have to cross the room where children were at to get there. My five year old was kicked out because of a speech delay. I was hesitant because I saw a nonverbal child have a full on meltdown and I wasn't sure if my child would be safe in the first place. I'd spoken to someone at the front desk about putting my child in kids classes. My child wasn't interested in the first class so they offered to let my child try a second class...before I added him to my membership. I was accused of trying to use free passes. She let my child stay for a few minutes- but she interrupted my Zumba class midway and told me to come downstairs and get my child. Fine with me. The Zumba instructor didn't speak English and her music sucked anyways. read more

Let's chat Lifetime. I was really concerned about joining due to the alarming rate of car break ins at gyms in the area. When I went to go tour the facility I brought this up and they were very honest about it. They said they discovered it is a group of criminals who are hitting businesses in the area. That they have cameras, security patrols and even have local constables assisting because the thieves hit the wife's car of a constable. Security is always outside patrolling and monitoring the parking lot when I am there. The gym is older but decent. They have done some updates. The front desk is usually very nice and will greet you by name. There are a couple of employees up there who might not be too kind. The cycle room is on the first floor off the basketball court. It is in a weird spot and you have to walk through the basketball area during pick up games to get to the studio. The gym is moderately busy during the evenings. They have a good amount of classes. Colleen and Diana are the best for the weight lifting classes. They have tons of experience and work to push you. The other classes have a mixed variety of experience levels with the instructors. So you will need to see what works for you. The dance classes are okay. The class levels are very reduced to accommodate the gym population. So if you are looking to hit it hard this is not the spot for you. My stretch therapist Chris is great. He does muscle activation in his sessions which has had a tremendous impact on me the past two months. I recommend him to everyone because he has begun to fix years long injuries and make it possible for me to workout, dance and move again safely. Huge help and greatly appreciate him. Overall it is okay. It is definitely different from the brand new Lifetime I came from. The members can be a bit standoffish and definitely have a large money centric "bro" crowd who works out there. The best gym in Houston! By far! I've been to most gyms in Houston and let me tell you lifetime is above and beyond all of them! Gym: all of their equipment is up to date. Ton of stuff to do: free weights, machines, basketball, swimming, sauna etc. ton of classes as well. I feel like you get great value for the price you pay. Customer service is great. Yes it's a bit more than most gyms in Houston but you get quite the bang for your buck. I really enjoyed the sauna and the pool. The Basketball gym is huge too. Love this gym. Amenities and classes are great, employees are always friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that it's HOT! A few minutes into a relatively light workout and I'm already sweating. The indoor pool area is even worse. It's so hot in the evenings when I take my daughter to her swim lessons that I have to "take breaks" and step outside to catch the breeze (it's summer in Houston, so that should say something). I had a surgery and they told me they would work with me. They froze my membership for a couple of months but I didn't get better so I tried to cancel my membership. But they told me there was some fine print about a 30-day notice and that they refused to help me and so charged me for an entire month I will never use. This review is not a reflection of the facility, but more so of the membership management. If you ever decide to cancel, make sure to check your bank statements to ensure your membership is truly terminated. I was told my membership would be terminated, but instead I was being charged for an additional 3 months for a membership I wasn't actively using. I brought this to managements attention and they only will reimburse me for the month I called to complain. They said the other two months were out of their control since I "hadn't addressed it until the current month." Mind you, I was under the impression my membership was canceled the entire time. They said I consented to my account being reactivated at the beginning of the year however I never agreed to that. I was calling to cancel because I did NOT want to use their facility. They said they emailed me and I never received an email stating such. I brought that to their attention as well and they completely ignored it. I have been a member of Life Time Fitness since 2007 and have been pleased with my membership. The last year or two i have seen a steady decline in the up keep of this facility. I have, in the past seen the place stellar like the uptown location but that was when guys were walking around with clip boards inspecting the facility. This week the hot tube was filthy dirty. With so many gyms in Houston it can be hard to find a gym that offers everything you can imagine to have in a gym. Oftentimes when you join a gym you start by saying you just need one thing and that's it. Soon after you find that you do want more from a gym or find things that simply annoy you and doesn't keep you motivated into wanting to go. Then there is Life Time Fitness. I can honestly say that I've yet to have seen a single gym in Houston that offers even half of what Lifetime Fitness has to offer.. And oh... YES they are pricey. Compared to other gyms they are in fact extremely pricey. However, in return I see it as a good filter from keeping out riff raff. The facility stays clean and the equipment is consistently updated and repaired quickly if broken. And then there was the kids area. I love it. Lifetime is like a resort for the adults and a mini resort for children. My kids would rather go to Lifetime than Chuck E Cheese. They love the large play area, the mini basket ball courts, the computer centers and of course the swimming pools and slides both inside and outside. In fact, we asked them last year if they would rather go to Six Flags over the summer or have a gym membership throughout summer, and they chose Life Time all the way. One can go to Lifetime and spend the entire day there. I only wish the food area was open at least to midnight. That way I'm free to grab something nutritious after those late night workouts before being tempted by all the fast food spots on the route home. I originally joined this gym the first month they opened. I left because I got upset about some of the contract changes they made along the way and in an attempt to replace them with another gym, I ended up going back to Lifetime. Let me warn the newbies, it's hard to pass up joining this gym after taking a tour. My only complaint is they should layoff the funds on charging kids under 12. For the price you pay to be a member, lifetime gives absolutely NO perks to being a member that are free. Not even a free smoothie a month. Nothing. So... I will preface this with the fact that I have always wanted to be a LifeTime fitness member. I don't have very much money, as I am a student, but I do or I did believe LifeTime is the best of the best. I signed up in June of 2020, as they were one of the first in my area to open the doors and since then, my gym shoes have been stolen from my locker, twice, my weight belt was stolen while was working out, and my Manta Ray back pad was stolen. This is very frustrating. I am tired of my equipment coming up missing, but you can't leave it in the car, because I've literally seen peoples cars getting broken into in the parking lot. Lifetime use to be a excellent gym, When I first signed up I brought 45 members with me. Most of my group only came to play basketball and it was worth it. Over the years the leagues have got worse and mismanaged. The courts were closed for any reason they could think of to disrupt our playing (Kids club, Summer camp, Training classes, Birthday parties, or whatever else they could think of. Then came pickle ball which I understand because of gay rights they had to let it in but when a event comes they said they will never close pickle ball just the basketball courts. It seems racially motivated to me but that's just my opinion and the opinion of the other few hundred hoopers left at lifetime in the ATL area. So if you play ball it's definitely not worth the membership, Go to LA fitness or anywhere else there's a gym. read more

First, I'd like to note that I've been a member of Life Time for a little over four years now. While I enjoy coming to this gym to exercise, I've noticed some things that I feel should be addressed, promptly... Cleanliness: As the current situation continues to grow with the Covid - 19 virus, I would've thought by now the gym would've issued a statement talking about the additional measures they're taking to keep their gym members health/safety as their first priority. I have seen ZERO, I mean ZERO, additional measures taken to ensure the equipment is kept clean by the staff. Throughout my 4+ years of exercising at this gym I have seen very little cleaning of gym equipment. Coming from a background in the health and wellness industry, I've seen many other fitness centers take cleanliness very seriously, to ensure their members sense of wellbeing. It's very disappointing to see the amount of staff available, PT specifically, sitting around talking to each other when they could be cleaning the equipment. That's what I was once required to do... Unprofessionalism in Staff: While this topic is unrelated, it is something I felt should also be included in this review. There have been two instances in the past month that have made me question the professionalism of Lifetime and it's staff. I'll start with the most recent situation - for the most part I have found the PT staff to be friendly and professional, however, in one of my recent exercise sessions, I saw one of the female trainers mocking me while I was training. It was very obvious as she was about 10 feet away from me, training one of her clients. The worst part is that I was facing her while she was doing it. I would think she would spend a little more time focusing on her client as her client is paying for personal training. This is very disconcerting to me as I would've never thought a trainer would be that unprofessional, especially one at Life Time. My girlfriend also saw the trainer's gestures and it was very obvious that it was me she was mocking. Second Situation: I accidentally left a small bag of workout clothes in the locker room, and the next day I went to ask one of the staff to look for it. The male staff member seemed very annoyed that I even asked. And when I tried to explain to him that my clothes were in a plastic bag tied up, a female staff member walked up and said abruptly "it's not there" before before he even went to go look for it. She was trying to dismiss me, obviously. Sure enough, my clothes were back there! While all of these situations are unrelated, they have all happened in a very short period of time. which makes me concerned about the direction the gym is going. The others are general cardio equipment that have been neglected and cleaning, full of dried sweat from other Gym members. I go to this gym since it's the closest to where I live as of now. I can't wait for the Woodlands location to open. My only real two problems are why do you charge to take reformer Pilates classes, this is a rip off and more so totally ridiculous. We're already paying a monthly fee and your charging for reformer Pilates doesn't set well with me!!! Next the black lady at the front entrance with the colorful red braids is rude and lazy. She never tries to answer a question. Don't ask her anything concerning the gym or who's instructing a class because all she will say is 'you can look on your app'. I'll set the record straight from the get-go: I'm not reviewing this gym. I'm reviewing LifeTime Fitness' policies, contracts and customer service once you decide to cancel your membership. E-gads! What a nightmare! Short story: a while back, my roving daughter moved back into town. I treated her to a membership at this gym location: in other words, she was the member but the monthly membership was charged (with my approval) to my credit card as my treat. She visited here often and enjoyed the gym. Oh, yeah, you all would have received a great review for her experiences. But times clouds one's memory and it's been, as I told LifeTime Fitness: "a month of Sundays" since she's been there. So the events of the last year are seared in my mind. True to her style and her roving ways, she packed up and moved out of state again in the blink of an eye. We kept her membership active (which meant we continued to pay monthly) because we weren't sure if she'd return here. When it became evident that she wouldn't, she attempted (note the careful selection of my verb there) to cancel her membership. LifeTime is extraordinarily strict on its policies. Think the strictest teacher/nun/judge/cop that you have ever encountered. This is LifeTime. Now living in a state that has none of their gyms, she calls their corporate office to find out how to cancel her membership. "Send a letter." She does. That doesn't work, since they tell her the next month (after we're billed) that the letter must be certified. Another letter sent: certified. Billed again. They claim they didn't get it: please send another. Another sent. Billed once more. Called again. "What's up? Did you get the letter?" Yes, they got it, but it wasn't "return receipt requested. Please send it properly with return receipt." Billed again. Sent once more, this time with return receipt requested. Again, billed. Finally, I've had it because this has been going on for months. I personally call them, because each month I'm being billed for usage of a gym that isn't even in the state where she resides and I've been paying for access to a service that isn't/can't be used. LifeTime won't talk to me because I'm not the member! They insist on attempting to call her (two-hour time difference); but ONLY after I ranted and gave all of the billing information, the dates and amounts did they admit that the membership had indeed been cancelled, because alas, they admitted to receiving at least ONE of the many cancellation letters. Oh, and by the way, we're billed for another month -- since cancellations aren't effective until the last day of the month following receipt of official membership cancellation. This has all the work out equipment, the environment, and services that you need. If you want the sauna it's there. As a new mom to a thirteen month old, I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to be able to reach my fitness goals while allowing my son to play with age appropriate kids, or so I thought. On 7/15/2021 there was an incident that took place while my son was in their care, I was told "he missed a step while climbing on a toy" but assured he was currently "okay and not crying". Which was not truth. I could hear my son crying in the background! Of course I immediately went to pick him up in which he was still crying. I was not upset about the fall, things happen, it was the little lie that made me uneasy coming from the staff. I however decided to not over react and try again. On 7/16/2021.. I dropped my thirteen month old off at the Kids Klub. I went to place my items in the locker room, before heading to the cardio station I went to check on him. (less than a 5 minute time frame) As I neared the area I could see a few teachers frantic, a few saying, "there is his Mom".. I also heard my son screaming and immediately saw he was being held by staff. I am of course in a frantic, asking what happened to him and I was told that a 13 YEAR OLD BOY (whom is autistic) rammed his head into my THIRTEEN MONTH OLD SON HEAD. At this time the thirteen year old boy was still in the area for kids 3 and under. I still can not wrap my head around how a thirteen year old, regardless of a diagnosis, was allowed access to my thirteen month old son and or others his age! I am currently waiting on an clear explanation from their team to make this incident make sense. If your child(s) safety is a concern of yours, I would steer clear of this place! The lack of empathy and or concern of a serious incident is extremely disgusting and I am appalled. In response to Taylor.. Mrs* Hashana. The best gym I have ever been to and one of my favorites in the Willowbrook area. (When I was a member.) I used to come here at all times of hours, staff was within reach and made workouts more enjoyable even late nights (yes some did try to convince me to get private lessons) But at least they did not try a hard sell. This place had various pools indoors and outdoors, a rock wall, basketball courts, a spa, daycare, and everything you'd expect from a gym but here they go over and beyond. Did I mentioned that the dressing rooms have a small lounge are to rest? I may no longer be a member here but this is the place where my kids have been to various parties. They even allow a moonwalk inside the basketball courts and my kids love climbing the rock climbing wall. Staff is always on top of the party for any needs. Fantastic gym and the OG Houston location for Lifetime. For the price you pay, you get a lot out of the membership, specially compared to other Lifetime locations in Houston. The equipment is always in good shape, the place is always clean, and if you go outside of the 5-7 pm peak hours, you rarely have to wait for equipment in the free weights area. You get a lot of fitness classes for free as well. I am so sad I have had to cancel because of a move. I truly loved this gym. Side note, cancellation process is the easiest for any gym I have been to. Just make sure that it actually gets cancelled and provide a 30 day notice. Pros: clean space, lots of ways to exercise, great outdoor pool in summer. Cons: 1. Gym is packed during typical workout times. 2. Membership services- my contract ended and I was considering cancelling due to frequent travel. I was told when I signed up that I could cancel at the end of my contract. It was enormously difficult to cancel despite having completed my contract (I paid for a whole year). Membership services gave me numerous ridiculous excuses and were frequently, "unavailable." One assistant even told me that he "already had three," and couldn't cancel my membership. It was insane, and 2 weeks later I'm still trying to make sure my bank won't be drafted. They offer a variety of classes for you to take to break the monotony of the regular workout. It had a very good cafe, excellent spa, and great pool/hot tub area. I will be frank, it is a bit pricey. However, with the price keeps the riff-raffs out, for the most part. You don't hear the guys imitating a woman giving birth in the corner. Which is a huge plus for me. I've been a Lifetime (Champions location) member since 2012 and I have watched this gym focus more and more on appealing to new customers while finding new ways to generate more cash from paying members....as my membership consistently increased every 2 or so years. They are currently in the process of making "improvements " to the gym and have signs up stating so. However, those "improvements" are only focused on bringing in new customers and not rewarding the current ones. I Don't Care about the new shiny floor tile if I have to purchase my own weighted gloves because the ones at the gym are so old the velcro is falling of and no longer works! That nice big indoor water slide is decoration....since 2012, I've literally seen it in use TWICE! Now my kids are too old to care about it. Group classes used to be great. As of 2022, I noticed the selection of group classes have really gone down. It's either one extrem or the other. Also the "Equipment Orientation" class is the gyms way of basically giving the personal trainers one on one time with you to evaluate you and sell their services. I wanted to learn how to use certain equipment and they focused 90% of the time on evaluating me and developing a plan that I have to pay for. Waste of my time! The ONLY reason I'm still there is because of the short commute and the steam room and locker room is nice. The other members are respectful and that gave the gym an extra for me. As far as the car burglaries you are safe as long as you coordinate your gym time with the few hours that the security guard is present. I joined this gym last week switching gyms. The gym I left is about 5 minutes from my home, this one is about a 35 minute drive. This gym is also about 3x the price of the one I left. However, the value you get, is worth far more than they charge, it's actually an incredible deal! The customer service is outstanding (with the exception of the guy who gave us a tour, that was a rough start...). Luckily I joined anyways. To start, this place is incredibly clean. The bathrooms / locker rooms are pristine and being cleaned throughout the day. The showers are clean and have really nice shampoo and body wash in them. The towel service is very convenient as well. This gym has everything you can think of. The equipment syncs with my Apple Watch. The weight equipment has clear directions with QR code's that give more instructions. There are a crazy amount of cleaning stations with your choice of disposable wipe or spray/ towel at every one. Equipment is spread out nicely so that you don't have to wear a mask while doing your workout, just have to wear while walking between stations. The employees are all so nice and greet you/ answer questions wherever you go. The steam room diffuses eucalyptus and is so nice after a shower! I can't say enough good things about this place, I'm literally excited to work out every day, and every day find some new feature to be excited about. I can't wait until the Woodlands location opens, but the gym is so great that I'll gladly make the commute until then. Just went in to tour the place, as I plan on trying to get here during lunch and/or after work, if I can brave the traffic of going back over the the NRG Stadium area, afterwards. The day I went, they were getting new equipment in, so it was in disarray. The women and mens' bathrooms were swapped, so there were no urinals for the men to use and it was not a pretty sight or smell! Ugh! Glad this looks to be temporary. How can these gyms be so alike and yet feel so different? The Lake Houston gym seems to use its space much better than the other two I've been to. Maybe I'm just used to it? Who knows. read more

I have been a member of lifetime since 2011 and I am sad to say that this location sucks. I just moved from Austin, and I guess the club here just doesn't seem to care about the members as much. I have been coming to this location for two months now and after being a member for eight years, I have officially cancelled my membership. This location really just makes me wonder why the heck I spend so much money. To put this in context, for myself, my wife, and our kids, the membership is $240 per month after taxes. So here are my issues with this location: Free weights are almost always laying on the floor and out of place. It is very common to see stacks of plates just laying in a corner or out in the middle of the room because no one bothers to pick them up. Dumbbells are almost always laying on the floor also. A few days ago they were replacing a broken window sill, and construction crap was just left out in the middle of the lifting area. I was there for an hour and a half and saw no employee touch it. The area by the stairs often smells very bad, as if there is some issue of backed up sewage around that part of the building. The aquatics department is run by children with no concept of the fact that they exist to ensure the happiness of the customer. The slide times are posted but not adhered to at all, and if you ask them why the slides are not on, they will makeup whatever lie they need to in order to get you to stop bugging them. We were told the slides could not be opened because there were swim lessons being taught. We sat there watching for an hour and no swim lessons were taught at all. As far as the trainers and salespeople.... I think that they forget that they are in the customer service industry. I have yet to see a person smile at me and say hello, outside of the front desk on my way in. The rest of the place just seems to be inconvenienced by the presence of a member and the possibility of needing to work. And my biggest pet peeve of them all- the staff will tell you whatever you need to hear to appease you, but will not actually follow through on it. This is a top down issue. The GM of the club will do this, so all the lower staff learns from example. Overall I highly recommend Lifetime Fitness, just not this location. This location really does not show what you are paying for. So if you are in this area, I would recommend saving your money. read more
