We hope this review will help other parents who are considering this place for their toddler. We had a surprisingly terrible experience at this salon trying to get a simple cut for our 2-year-old. We chose this place specifically because it was so highly rated for child haircuts, and we figured the relatively expensive price would be offset by a more child-friendly experience. This could not have been more wrong. We arrived early on a quiet weekend morning. The stylist was incredibly rude from the offset. He seemed pretty bothered by our presence. My husband and I kept staring at each other like "is it just me?". We asked a few questions to get his opinion on how to handle the haircut and he was unfriendly and unwilling to engage in his responses. When our 2 year old got upset by the water on his hair (typical, but also navigateable with a little friendly encouragement towards the child) -- he refused to look at or speak to our child, instead relented and essentially said we have to put up with it. We kept trying to slow things down or to just get his sense of how to navigate. We kept mistakenly thinking he'd be helpful, as someone in a salon that specializes in children's cuts. Unfortunately this did not happen. The tone was profoundly passive-aggressive, put-upon, and unhelpful. We decided to reschedule and were met with a similarly rude energy from the front desk. We tend to be pretty easygoing when it comes to children's experiences, which can inherently be a bit unpredictable. We have never had to leave because we were so uncomfortable with how a professional was treating our child. It was that bad.

The top and bottom were weirdly shorter than the middle - she cut the top at a slant, to create layers, while she blunt cut the middle and layered the bottom in some places, blunt cut it in others, and there were random chunks blunt cut throughout. The front was an whole three quarters of an inch shorter on one side... And then behind that, the longer side was a half inch shorter than the side that was short in the front. I had to go around and trim the random pieces sticking out. I honestly question whether she was trained. Even I would know not to do the things she was doing. Also, I kept telling her to do it differently and she just ignored me. Seriously, do not go here. I've had bad haircuts in the city, but this really takes the cake.

Ok so let me begin this experience. I've been with Emily for 4 years now when I initially wanted to go copper. I researched for 2 months in search of someone that wasn't overpriced and had the skills. I learned quickly that I was looking for a colorist. And Emily was just that. I have hair that many people would called raven colored... naturally. I worried about the impact of bleach in my hair as I hadn't colored it in 10 years. Emily walked me through a very thorough consultation and at the end asked me how I felt and if I wanted to continue with the session. I accepted because I felt confident in her work and her reassurance and validation. After some hours and constant foil checks and just body checks overall (asking me if I wanted to stretch, needed a break, water, food and a drink) my hair was at a comfortable level where she felt she didn't fry it but it could be lifted safely. Many will lighten you fast slab some stuff on and send you on your way just for you to wash style and it's falling apart. This was not that kind of horror story. We applied the color and it looked beautiful. As I went with her I learned so much about coloring and detail. Emily was and is the best at it. Our sessions are not only satisfying in the hair aspect, but we've shared so many funny stories and memories that Siren Salon is a place I go to decompress and visit what feels like old friends. The vibe is great too, the other stylist make it feel like they've serviced you with how friendly they are. And let's not forget how talented Micah and Melinda are. I'm so grateful I've found a place to not only service my hair needs but to feed my soul with care and positivity. They didn't take me until about 7:20. When I showed the lady what I wanted she asked how much should she cut of length, we agreed at 1.5 inches. SHE CUT ABOUT 6+ INCHES. My hair was at my lower back, now it's at my shoulder blades. She was also extremely rough, she would brush really hard and yank on my hair. Lastly when I asked to pay, the girl told me to go back to the lady who cut my hair, I did and she told me her Zelle, then they go that's just the tip, pay her then you can go back to the other girl and pay the haircut.
