We started our journey at another dealership, Jim Coleman in Bethesda, to buy a RAV. We put down $1000 (they requested) to hold the vehicle we thought was the one. I went home feeling uneasy at the price and did my research and found the SAME car at Fitzgerald for $5000 less than 12 hours later. Of course we pursued it! TREVOR from Fitzgerald was great this morning. He took the time out to introduce and answer all our questions. He even helped me set up the app on my phone and connect to the vehicle before I drove off. We love this car! I purchased a 2018 Certified Pre-Owned Subaru Outback Premium in December 2019. The process of purchasing the car was fine, if a bit slow. It took four hours from start to finish. Upon arriving home that night, the check engine light came on. I called first thing the next morning, and they told me to bring it right in for them to look at it. I did, arriving around 9:30am. They told me they'd take it right up to service to get looked at. They didn't. I sat looking at my car for over two hours, asking the general manager, Diako, every twenty minutes what was going on. He lied to me, telling me they had it in the shop, running a diagnostic. When I pointed at my car, and asked how it was outside, he pointed the finger at a younger employee, and said that kid had told him he brought the car up. Finally, after two and a half hours, he told me they might not be able to look at it until afternoon. Wouldn't it have been good to gather that information earlier and share it with me, so I wouldn't have wasted my entire morning waiting? At that point, I left the dealership. I went home, and waited for a call that never came. Around 3pm, I called Diako. He told me he still wasn't sure what time it would be done. I then decided to speak call the service department directly. There, I spoke to Chris. Chris was incredibly professional, and communicated clearly and directly. He told me what was wrong, and roughly how long it would take to be completed. They had run a diagnostic and found it was a leaky valve related to the emissions system. It's not something that would have been caught in the Certified Pre-Owned inspection, apparently. I came back at 5pm to pick up my car, it having just been completed. I lost a day to this process, because their inspection process didn't catch this issue. I was frustrated by the sales staff not communicating clearly, or effectively setting expectations. Chris in service was the most positive part of the experience, and earned a star back for this review. I definitely will not purchase a car from Fitzgerald again, and would caution anyone from purchasing a used or Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from this dealership. read more

I bought a 2019 Crosstrek from this dealership in October, and I am very happy with the experience. I was a little skeptical of the no-haggle policy, but I found that it really took the pressure off during the sale, and I drove away satisfied that I'd gotten a fair deal. I had done a fair amount of research on pricing before receiving the quote, and the selling price was actually lower than what I had expected for such a popular vehicle. The other thing that sets this dealership apart, in my experience, is the level of customer service. I went back multiple times for test drives while I was considering my options, and I never felt like I was being treated as a low priority because I wasn't there to buy something that day. They also didn't try to push me to pull the trigger on the sale before I had made up my mind. Once I was ready to proceed, my salesperson went out of his way to locate the exact car that I wanted and have it transferred there. I greatly appreciated that. I was also happy to learn that every customer receives a detailed run-through of their vehicle's bells and whistles. I found that especially helpful, because I was still discovering things about my previous car after having it for a couple of years. Now I know where everything is and what it does, which is great. Buying a car is a huge investment and never to be taken lightly and thus my extensive research led me to Fitzgerald Subaru in Gaithersburg. They had the best listed online price for the Subaru I was interested in. The first day I was out test driving a few vehicles that I was considering to buy, the Subaru BRZ was on that list. I arrived at Fitzgerald Subaru and was looking over the BRZ I saw listed online. I looked over the vehicle and then my sales person Erol walked out and asked if I was interested in the car. This was a nice touch as I was not ignored and taken as a serious potential buyer. (I look young and have been ignored as well as mistreated at another dealership recently) Erol was nice and after some talking I proceeded to test drive the car. I liked it a lot but did not want to make my decision on a car yet so I left. I came back a week later to make an offer on the BRZ as well as have my car appraised for trade-in. I worked with Kenny the main manager as well as Dave in sales and Erol. Dave was nice but did not seem very knowledgable with cars. Once Erol was free I was transferred back to Erol. They tested, drove, inspected and thus appraised my car for a good trade-in offer. This incentive is what pushed me to proceed with buying the car that day. Fast forward through five hours of paper work I was sitting in my new BRZ! Once arriving home I realize that it is missing the factory floor mats, I call Erol and he has replacement floor mats ordered which I picked up the next week. Then I realize the car is missing center caps on all four of the wheels, so I contact them and they have ordered those to ship to my house. They have not yet arrived but it's only been a few days. So overall my experience has been very good, the missing parts was frustrating but they instantly resolved the issues for me. 8 days after trading in my car and buying the Subaru I receive a call from the service manager he is yelling at me about how I did not disclose my "modified shocks and struts" they were not "modified" they were simply new oem-type replacements with only a few thousand miles on them as my car had over 80000 miles and the shocks, springs, and struts were due to be replaced. He was extremely rude, and condescending. I contacted Kenny the next day about the issue and as always he was a pleasure to deal with. We resolved the issue and he really is a prime example of a quality manager and leader. Kenny is the one who made my experience a great one even despite the negatives. The other sales managers seemed nice and helpful as well however Kenny is the one I had majority of involvement with. I want to also note working with Renda on the financing portion of buying the vehicle was a pleasure. She was helpful, informative, showed me add on options without being "pushy". Overall the experience was a positive one, a few hiccups along the way but I would certainly do business with the sales team at Subaru again. I unfortunately have no interest in their services after the incredibly unprofessional dealing with the service manager who would hardly let me reply as he barraged me let alone tell me his name. That is why this is a 4 star review and not five stars. Bottom line is this dealership has some of the best pricing around and if you are interested in buying a car here I would highly recommend working with Kenny (the manager), Kevin (the manager) Erol(sales) and Renda (final paperwork and financing). read more

I got my car in 2009 a Subaru Impreza and I love getting my car serviced. the service advisors are always sweet to me but maybe because i probably look like a 18 year old girl who's just trying to get an oil change haha. none the less everytime i come here they always greet me and make sure i am good, offering refreshments and such. i love that there's a quiet little corner that they have where you can wait and charge your phone, laptop etc do some work while you wait. I needed a new car quickly when mine broke down and found the exact vehicle I wanted online. I got a great, low-mileage Outback for an excellent price (had been a service loaner). EVERYTHING subsequent to that has been unpleasant. The vehicle turned out to not have features that the salesman claimed it did. He now claims I am lying and he did not tell me that it did have, but he will happily install it for an extra 600 bucks. The sales manager immediately backed his guy and started telling me that I knew it did not have the feature in question (how he knows what I did or did not know is a mystery to me). This sales manager guy had already sent me an email telling me I was wrong before even talking to me, based solely on his conversation with his salesman. His parochial tone and insistence on my lack of integrity was beyond infuriating. The idea that it is more likely that I am complaining about the lack of a feature that he told me the car did not have (why would he do that?) than the salesman does not want to admit a potentially costly error is offensive. The title person asked for documents via email a full four work days later which I immediately provided the very next morning. She did not confirm receipt and was rude on the phone when I called. The vehicle was missing a key fob when I took delivery. I called several days later to inquire and the service people had no idea what I was talking about. The price and purchasing experience were fine, other than the unnecessary bait and switch regarding the one feature. I love my new Subaru, but there are so many places to buy a car in the DC area that I cannot imagine giving this one any more of my business. UPDATE: So two months later and surprise, surprise, surprise, what I was told I was paying for and what I actually got are two WILDLY different things. I was told I was buying an extended service plan that covered ALL regular maintenance on the car (oil changes, tire rotation, etc) and an upgraded extended warranty that covered the basics and the electronics. I have NONE of those things. What I paid them over $1700 for was a simple extended warranty that covers breakdowns ONLY. PLUS I now have to pay a premium to have ALL my service done at the dealership to keep the warranty in place. It goes without saying that I will NEVER purchase a car from these jerkoffs again, and will think really carefully before buying another Subaru. Worst car buying experience I have ever had. Just straight-up lied to. Unless price is the ONLY thing you care about, I would avoid Fitzgerald like the plague. read more

They take laissez-fair to a whole new level. I know exactly what I want and saw it in stock as "new arrival" on the website. I contacted the sales person who did our test drives for the info, and told him I would be in soon to purchase it. Since I do most of my communication through email, I guess he thought it would be best to email me back... He emailed me 3 times as I was on my way in and I only saw the first one which was about how this is such a good deal. The 3rd email, which I didn't see, said the car was being shipped and not in yet, but I was at the dealership by then. After waiting for him for 10 min (smoke break?) he said he would look up when it was coming. Time passed as his manager was searching the computer for the answer. I told him to just email me the info, and I left... Later in the day I FOLLOWED UP WITH HIM and found out they didn't know when it would be in. A few days later, the website changed and now says "may be discount for pre purchase." WHAT? Let's do that! Why didn't anyone tell me? -- I called the sales manager. He said everyone who was there made a collective mistake by not giving me pre purchase info. There is a discount (Woo hoo!). Can I get locked in at at 1.49 apr Subaru promo? "There is a comparable car you can get sooner and get the same price and locked in at apr" he says. (A dealer trade I assume). "I'll call you back in 15 minutes" he says. A day later, no call back. Am I supposed to keep chasing these people so that they can make commission?!?! It IS the only model with the packages I want within a 100 mile radius; and definitely the lowest price in the DMV. Don't bother trying your chances here. The first time I ever stepped foot in the place, I felt like I went there to be ignored. I tried giving it a couple more chances, seeing as how they seem to have returning customers. It was quite unfortunate that every time I went, it seemed like the front desk employees felt too good to offer their help for me. I would always have to be the first one to say something to them. One final straw on my last visit made me vow to never return. I had scheduled myself for a maintenance(fluid checks, break checks, oil change, etc.) which I expected to take an extended amount of time, which I was okay with. When I got there, I was again greeted with nothing. After 2 hours of sitting there, I went to the front desk to ask one of the members where my car was. After telling him I had been there for 2 hours, he replied "no you haven't...you've been here for MAYBE an hour." Behind him, a TV with my name and check-in time was on it. It turns out I had actually been there for close to three hours. Guess what? In the end, only my oil had been changed, with a car wash thrown in. I hate this place. read more

The Problem, I already got Maryland State Inspection Passed by a certified technician, why should I spend time to do one more? To help him justify his work? Get your service done elsewhere. I called on a Monday to order tires to be put on that Friday. I scheduled an appointment for 930 but ended up dropping my truck off at 745. I was told it would be done by noon but was called around 830 to tell me there was a gash in one of the tires and it would not be completed until 5 because they had to order a new tire. At 3pm I was called and told they would not be able to complete the job and I would get my truck back Saturday. I told them I needed it for Saturday and they said it would be done by 7pm Friday. I picked it up but never got it up to highway speed. On Sunday I took it on the highway and the whole truck was bouncing and when I let go of the wheel it pulled left as it had before I took it in for new tires. I then checked the oil to see if they had changed that and they had but they hadn't topped off any fluids. I looked at the work order given to me when I picked it up stating that they had balanced my tires, completed the alignment and changed the oil and topped off all fluids. I paid for services that were never completed and had to take it back to the dealership to have it done properly. I spoke to the service manager and service director and neither one seemed worried that they handed me a paper and had me sign it stating that all work was completed and even charged me for an alignment when it was never actually completed at all. I dropped it back off on Sunday night with a long note attached to my key. I figured they would call as soon as they got it to let me know they were handling the situation. I called them 3 hours after they opened and was told they were working on it now and gave a bunch of excuses. In the end they ended up completing all the work and couldn't understand why I was mad that they charged me for work that wasn't completed. Stay away from Fitzgerald Lakeforest Subaru. Their service department does not care about you or your time, they don't even care about customer service. Find somewhere else to get your vehicle worked on. read more

Moving this review at the request of the Rockville location since I originally posted it there incorrectly. I would not recommend this dealership at all. My husband purchased a new Subaru Outback there about 4 months ago...within a couple weeks...BOTH back seat belts broke. We were really upset and surprised because not only is this a core safety feature...but our old car that we had had for 10 years never had any issue with the seat belt. My husband took the car in for repairs and they fixed the seat belts. We were upset...but figured it was just a blip. Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago...we were driving back from a long distance trip on the interstate. We stopped for a rest and when we tried get our seven year old son strapped in the back seat..surprise...the seat belt was broken again!! We immediately called the dealership where the sales manager seemed completely disinterested that we had a child with no seat belt in a car from his dealership. He said it was a Sunday and we had to call back the next day when the service department opened. Thank goodness all was ok on the trip but...we drove the next seven hours with a non working seat belt in the back seat for our child. It seems very not right that our seat belts on the back seats...on a new car...a Subaru that is supposed to be all about safely broke twice in four months. I would avoid this place. I was in the market for a new car since my 2007 Honda CR-V was getting too old for me. After researching on Kelley Blue Book on similar, more fuel efficient SUV type vehicles, I decided I wanted to try out a Subaru. My boyfriend referred me to this Fitz Mall, since he got his 2016 Hyundai Elantra there and received great service. I was able to schedule a time to meet with one of their salesman, Bick Shrestha. I test drove both the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and Impreza Wagon. I kind of already had my heart set on the Crosstrek going in, so after I drove it, my decision was made. Bick made the whole process as painless and fast as possible. I had no idea that the people who sell Subarus also have to take a very extensive educational course, to ensure that they know all there is to know about their vehicles. Bick was able to tell me all about why Subarus are such reliable and popular vehicles. He explained the benefits of the structure of the vehicle along with the engine type. It was very helpful to have someone explain all of these great features to me. Bick was very personable and friendly and made me feel like I could ask him any question, no matter how simple. Fitz was also able to give me a great trade in value for my CR-V, $5,000! I was very pleased with the whole experience. From our first contact with the sales managers (Greg and Izetta) prior to our test drive, to working on the details of the car with our Sales Consultant Rajesh Karki. Raj was very knowledgeable, courteous and patient. He provided a complete run through of all the Ascents features, answered all the questions we had and interacted on our behalf with the Sales Managers. Once we were comfortable with the deal, Raj turned us over to the Finance guy (Eric Abramson). Eric explained in detail the financing options, any warranties we might want and provided several scenarios that would meet our goal. He also had a great sense of humor. There was absolutely no pressure. I highly recommend this dealership and the team we dealt with. Especially Raj, who made us feel like he was devoted to making us happy. I will not do any business with them ever again. False advertising, hidden fees, bad condescending attitude, their service department has them all. We went in for a simple oil change for our Subaru with a printout of the "special" $49.95 price they had on their website. The advertisement makes it look like it's a lump-sum service charge (as oil changes normally are) and did not say anything at all about there being any other charges or fees. When we went in, we asked the guy at the counter before getting serviced if $49.95 is the total price, and he said yes. And what do you know, once it's done, the bill they handed us was over 23% higher at $61.53. They advertised a lump-sum service charge (which is not taxable to the customer so you'd expect that to be the total charge), and then sneakily itemize their invoice AFTERWARDS so they can charge you extra in the form of labor fees, taxes, and other misc charges. What really ticked me off was we checked the price with them beforehand and they basically lied to our face. It's unacceptable business practice. When I mentioned to the guy that all the oil changes I've had at other places all charged exactly the lump-sum price they advertised, the guy told me in a condescending tone "no they don't." Um, did you have service at those other places or did I? Just because your business try to swindle as much money as possible from your customers with hidden charges, doesn't mean all other places do that too. These people's attitude and sleazy business practice on something as simple as an oil change speaks volume about other areas of their business. Beware. Luckily, I didn't buy my Subaru car from them (We almost bought a car from them in 2012, but they didn't have the model we wanted so we drove to VA and bought ours at the Stohlman dealer instead. Thank god for that.) We only came here for an oil change because it's close to us so we thought we'd give them a try. Well, never again. Definitely won't be going to them when we plan to buy another car later this year, or when we service our cars in the future either. Neither will our family and friends. read more

We recently bought a car here and got a pretty good deal. It's pretty different from other dealers in the lack of sales pressure. One thing we didn't like was they made a mistake on the website in advertising the vehicle as Fitz Way Plus, which is a warranty, but when we got there the sticker said "as is". One might expect them to honor the claim on the website, but after pressing them, they only gave us a partial warranty. The buying process was a little slow but that might be normal -- expect to spend a few hours there with paper work. We also got some help afterwards with a new key fob and ignition key programming where they hardly charged us anything. Overall we liked their selection at the various locations, and the ability to search on their website, and the competitive pricing with no hard sale. read more

I had a horrible experience at this dealership and I was there for less than an hour. First of all the staff is rude once they find out you're not purchasing a car, specifically Jose. The car sales man called my dad to let him know they had new inventory and to come check it out. Immediately, my dad went to the dealer bc he was interested in the new inventory that was described over the phone. He was there for over an hour looking/discussing the car and so forth. My dad made it clear we were interested in the car. I rush over shortly after I receive the call to come. As we go to test drive it, the car is no where to be found. Someone else is test driving it and interested. Why would you let someone else test drive the vehicle knowing you have interested consumers. Nonetheless, they were rude and talking down to my father and I. As soon as Jose found out someone else was buying the car his entire demeanor changed. I don't care what kind of new inventory they get/have. I will not be getting a car from here and will be sure to spread the word. Going to a dealership sucks as it is and these people made it worse. I live 30 mins away from this location, but I will tell you in no time that Service at the Lakeforest has been over A+ for many years now, and there is no way anyone can find a better service for your vehicle. I have to say that Chris ( the manager) makes my whole service experience and routine oil change the best! He is honest, attentive, good advisor, an excellent manager that knows how to get the job dive to a highest level! Staff is always courteous, responsive and communicative! I just bought a 2020 loaner Crosstrek from Johnnie and had a very good experience. No pressure and he was polite and very helpful. I feel they gave me a good price on the car and a good price for my trade in. The people I spoke with during the buying process after Johnnie were also very low key and not pushy. In late March I deposited money to reserve an incoming vehicle in which I was told would be arriving April 6th. After making my deposit, it was nearly impossible to receive any communication. I left numerous messages without a return call. After pressing and speaking to someone else on the sales team, I was told the vehicle had not even left Japan. I then spoke with the manager who told me the information was incorrect and the vehicle would be arriving some time in mid to late April. I cancelled my reservation and requested to have my deposit returned. I was told it would take 7-10 days for the deposit to be back in my bank account. It still has not been returned as of the date of this review. I called to speak with finance who then told me I had to again speak with the manager (who was out) and had any deposit information locked in a drawer. I asked if someone else had knowledge of my initial deposit and was told no. Overall - my experience in every aspect with this dealership was absolutely the worse. I bought a car from Annapolis Subaru which had stellar service in EVERY aspect of communication, answering any and all of my questions, and even called me a week later to make sure I was still happy with my purchasing the Subaru. I hope to receive my return deposit from Fitzgerald sometime in the near future so I do not have to deal with this dealership again. read more

I bought my STI 2017 From Fitz 3 weeks ago. My AC is no longer working. Service told me to bring it back on Saturdays, since I got there too late at 430 pm on Monday. I brought the car at 730 AM and the same service adviser tells me that I need an appointment. He never mentioned I needed an appointment, he said bring it in. I've been with out AC for a Week now, its not ones fault, but the dealership I bought the car from won't help me. I live 2 blocks away from your service department, and now Im making appointments to take the car to Hagerstown instead. I have young kids I Can't put them in a 100 degree hot car. read more

When buying or leasing a car you are essentially entering a long term relationship with the dealer. Before buying from Fitzgerald, consider the following. Fitzgerald Hyundai in Rockville and Gaithersburg refused to sell me a car because I said I would write a review about my experience. They also threatened me with their lawyers if I wrote a negative review. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and to me it seemed very much like discrimination. Now ask yourself, is this the type of company you want to enter into a relationship with? Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with these guys who are absolutely indifferent about their customers. read more

The customer service reps at the Service desk here are not as nice as the ones in Rockville. They seem very standoff-ish and make you feel like they've got more important things to do than help you. The whole vibe of the place is just unwelcoming. I don't know how to describe it. Couldn't have had a better experience buying not just one car but three from this place. Everyone here is very friendly and easy to talk to, they work well as a team and communicate very well. The first person I talked to and bought a car from was Erol, when I showed up and he wasn't there - his coworkers would call him to let him know that I was there about my car. Kenny Booth the manager was very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable and makes the car buying process much fasted. I took my Subaru to the service center here to have the oil changed. At the end of it, I got a checklist of approximately $3000.00 worth of things that they said needed to be addressed. Among them, new brakes and head gaskets. Needless to say, I got a second opinion, and after bringing my car to a very reputable independent auto shop, I was told that, in fact, there was no real need for the head gaskets, and my brakes were just fine. Bottom line, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THESE PEOPLE, they are thieves!!! read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME!!!! Went there to get a NEW CAR CASH and after being jerked around for more than a week ROB the sales "manager" told me that I had three options: -pay now for a car that has a busted fuel pump and wait for 15 more days because they had no idea when the part was going to arrive (in the mean time, he could NOT provide me with a loaner b/c it would eat their profit, so I basically had to walk, and at that point) -get another car (as if they are doing ME a favor) -undo the deal. Damn right I went somewhere else. 2k less same car with no problems. NOBODY in their right mind would buy a car 20 days before with a major defect and WAIT while I had no vehicle. remember, I was about to pay CASH... I have never in my life experienced such horrible customer service. and you know what is the worst thing about this??? I have purchased 3 cars before in this dealer (nissan, corolla, camry). Go elsewhere for parts/repair for your vehicle. We brought our car here to get an oil change.tire rotation, and it took over 2 hours to get the work done. Not to mention the employee at the counter was less than courteous. As we approached the counter we could hear him calling the customer prior to me an *sshole a few times without much remorse. I wouldn't go here again for service. Their sales department has always been great though. read more
