Order tires from tire rack and had them sent here for install. It was super fast and easy to set up the appointment. Day of I showed up and everything was on time. Four tires installed and alignment were done in about 2hrs, price was as quoted and reasonable. Did have an issue when I left with tires losing air but I contacted them and brought my car back and they fixed the leaking issue immediately. The work here was fast and good and their customer service was excellent. I felt like they cared about my issues and took care of me as a customer. Will the miracles never cease! After they gave me my four tires and didn't try to sell me a new airbag, I figured it was time to take this relationship to the next level. I needed a 100k service. Granted, I didn't ask them to put in a flux capacitor or anything, but it's how they handled this that sent their stock soaring in my eyes. First off, I called to ask about the price. The guy placed me on hold so that he could look up what my car needed. He then went down and read me an itemized list of what would be done and how much each service would cost. They had an appointment available the very next day. And not one of those, "drop it off and we'll get to it eventually...but probably closer to the end of the day" appointments either. I dropped my car off at 9. They called me at 10 to give me an update. Here's where it gets interesting. "You need new brakes...BUT they're not worn down to the point where you need to rush. You can make it the rest of the summer if you want to wait." Never in my life has a mechanic called me and NOT told me that my car would explode if I didn't take them up on something right away. My car was done an hour later, and I paid about half of what the dealership wanted. I'll be back for those brakes in the fall. read more

I made an appointment for an alignment. Wilson took my car in the bay and started the work at the appointed time. They finished the work in the expected time-frame. The car was clean, the work was solid, they took the time to explain the progress to me twice and nobody was angry... ...that's a key point. I wasn't in line behind two other angry customers who'd been waiting for hours. I didn't overhear complaint calls and requests for the manager coming in. I didn't observe anyone who was buying tires getting their service bumped ahead of 3 other angry customers. I didn't observe pissed-off overworked employees who were clearly just out of tech school and ready to jet this job as soon as they could. Everybody spoke English. In short, it was nothing like my experiences at NTB or Pep Boys who I will never go to again. Not ever ever ever. Thank you Wilson for delivering the service promised, on time and professionally. Excellent experience! Everyone was wearing masks, the waiting area was spacious. They were ready for my appointment right when I arrived, and quickly figured out the cause of the leak in my tire: busted tire pressure sensor. When asked, they even took the time to see if it was a recently replaced valve or original. Price was reasonable, and service fast. This was our first experience, and we'll be back (but hopefully not too soon)! To top it off, the mechanic had already re-started the reset cycle for the TPMS valve, something I was have to do after visiting the dealer. They were fantastic. 5 stars just isn't enough! read more

I needed new tires for my car and had Wilson Tire order and replace them with the same exact model and brand. Everything seemed fine until about a week and a half later when my tire check light came on and I found one of my tires had a lower PSI than the others. Since it was in the middle of the ultra-low temperatures I chalked it up to the cold weather and filled the tire up to match the others. Another week went by and the same tire started losing air again. Thinking perhaps it was the tire that was leaking or faulty, I took it back to Wilson. They quickly found the problem - the sensor was leaking air. They told me this was normal, that all sensors "go bad" after about 5 years, so I had them replace it at $140 cost to me. Fast-forward another week and a half, when my tire check light went on again and found that two more (different) tires were losing air. Again, I filled them up at the gas station thinking that surely not all my tires would be leaking at the same time. Not even a week after that, the tire check light comes on again and my tires are clearly not holding air. Since I had to get a service done at my dealership I had them check the tires and they informed me that those 2 tire sensors were cracked and that it must have happened during the tire installation, and showed me where they were leaking. One sensor had to be cut off because it was tightened down too much by Wilson when it was reinstalled during the tire change. Before I had the dealership do anything, I called Wilson to see if they would fix this, and over the phone I was told flat out that they were not responsible for the cracked sensors. Then they said that my dealership only said that because they wanted to sell me new sensors. I protested and said I wanted my sensors replaced since they broke them, and they then told me to come in and they'd see if they could patch it or find a compromise. Because the only way this will be made right is for Wilson to replace the two sensors they cracked and reimburse me for the one they made me pay for, I just had the dealership replace the faulty sensors with regular valves to stop the air leakage for the time being. This was one low-cost option the dealership presented, which they would not have suggested if their motivation was to sell me expensive sensors as Wilson insinuated. For the record, I since did more research and got several other opinions, including one of a friend who races cars, and they all said this damage definitely happened at the time the tires were changed by Wilson. Sensors do indeed go bad, but they just stop working with the tire check light and do not leak air unless they are physically damaged. Thanks to Wilson, my tire check light is on all the time now, and I have to check my tires manually. I understand that accidents happen, and would have given them a decent review in spite of the major inconvenience if they had acted differently. But the fact that I was lied to when I brought the car back after the problem began, coupled with the fact that they would not just own up to the incident and fix what they broke is enough for me to never set foot in their establishment again, and I would urge others to do the same. read more

I try to take care of my cars on my own when I can. Unfortunately, mounting and balancing tires is not something for which I have the equipment. When I've had mounting and balancing done here they've always been fast and efficient. As the other reviewer noted, they have a nice clean waiting area where you can relax for a bit while you wait for work to be completed. This is FAR nicer than I've seen at other shops in the Germantown area. Most important for me, the employees and manager have been happy to answer the questions I have. The next morning, a nearby shop put on the spare and we started calling to find a replacement tire of the right size. Wilson Tire was so very helpful. They didn't have her tire, but did tell her she could drive safely for several hundred miles at moderate speeds without worry. Disappointed is an understatement regarding their service. I brought in my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado last summer for new spark plugs. They got me in waived the diagnostic and changed the plugs without consequence. Periodically, my check engine light would come on briefly for a day or two then go off. I paid it no mind because it wasn't consistent and my trunk was running well. Fast forward to yesterday, when all hell broke loose. My "Service Stabilitrak" warning and "Check Engine" light started blinking. I took it to another shop and was informed that the cylinder 2 plug had been installed improperly and subsequently broke! Never...and I mean NEVER will I again utilize this repair shop again. Unfortunately, now I have to pay for new plugs and additional repairs due to the damage that was done. read more

Full disclosure, I was in a time crunch, and I didn't compare prices with other auto repair operations in the neighborhood... I needed to have all four tires replaced on my car, and VERY fast. I called at 11:30, got a very fair price, and an appointment for 12:00 that day. I was out by 12:45. The guys at Wilson are all very friendly, straight forward, and I would not hesitate to take my car back to them in the future. read more

These guys are great. Just took my car there to get a nail removed and patched. I was nervous because the nail was close to the sidewall and I was afraid they were going to say I needed to get a new tire. However, they came in and showed me the nail which was less than half an inch long and said they didn't think it punctured through but they were going to double check. After double checking, they said it was good and no puncture, but if it had punctured it was indeed too close to the sidewall and they wouldn't have been able to safely repair it. I know a lot of shops that would have went ahead and tried to sell me a new tire, but these guys were honest and courteous. I look forward to returning to Wilson's when I actually need work done (which hopefully won't be for a while!). read more

OK . . . you can buy tires from just about anywhere, nowadays. So why go to this shop? I'd say don't go there if you know anything about an automobile or care about your family's safety! And women or those of you that don't know anything about their car - stay away, too if you know what's good for you. The reason I say this is that I took my vehicle in for balancing four (4) tires. Problem is: I caught the 'professional' grease monkey tighten my lug nuts with an impact gun and then, put the cover on without torquing the lugs. Is this important? You bet it is if you don't want to be driving down the road and have your wheel fall off! I asked the grease monkey, 'don't you hand torque the lug nuts?' His response was 'if you want me to'. After a few choice words, he went to the other end of the shop for the torque sticks. Only one set for all the cars that they replace tires? I went into the office and voiced my concerns to the salesperson with whom I was dealing named Toby Drury/Asst. Mgr. He explained that the mechanic was supposed to torque the lug nuts but his expression was 'what's the big deal'. He added that the impact gun was "pre-torqued by Ingersoll Rand for Goodyear". Maybe that line of bs works on most people but I don't think that this service writer knows much about the function of impact guns, torque wrenches/torque sticks and the reason for manufacturers torque specifications. I also thought that it was strange that the other salesperson (I'll call him bald-ie) chimed in and said 'don't worry, we'll re-torque them' as in - they will do it a second time. They didn't do it the first time - that's the problem! It's appalling that I would have to tell a 'professional' how to do his job! His lack of attention to his job is reckless, irresponsible and criminal. How many customers have been unknowingly duped by these crooks trying to save time/money? All in all, don't expect much from all of these guys just because they're licensed with the Goodyear name!!!!!! read more

Two stars is being generous in my opinion. I would assume the high ratings come from how nice the lobby people are. They're super welcoming and courteous when helping people but that's not what should dictate how good this place actually is. I just spent over $300 dollars for them to check the noises my car was making, they replaced my battery and changed my brake caliber hardware but my car is still making noises. That all aside it's incredibly frustrating when I'm there to pick up my car there is no notes as to what they found in the diagnostic tests they did and no one there I could speak to that could answer my questions about my car since apparently everyone who worked on my car yesterday wasn't there today. I just can't help but think it was a waste of my hard earned money because nothing was done. Doubt I'll go back but I definitely won't be recommending them to anyone and I'll go tell the people who did recommend them to me just how much they cost me read more

Buying tires has always been a confusing, stressful and unpleasant necessary event for as long as I've owned cars; 30 years. I never really felt I was being honestly informed, the whole procedure took too much time, and the retailers had dirty or uncomfortable waiting rooms. Also tires are expensive. I recently purchased 4 tires at Wilson in Germantown and the experience was easy. They made an appointment, kept it, provided financing through Goodyear, and the waiting room was clean, had a nice TV and big windows. The process was completed before the time they gave me and my vehicle was clean of any dark handprints. I will always purchase my tires from Wilson Tire and Auto because of this positive experience. I took my truck to Wilson Tire this morning for four tires and an alignment. As promised it took two hours to complete. The facility is clean, staff is friendly and professional. they did what they said they would for what they said it would cost and in the time they said it would be done. These guys have been at this location for years. I have not used them in at least a decade always chasing the cheapest deal. The price was in line and I think there is a great deal of value having the work done close to home in case something is wrong. They also have a vested interest in doing a good job because the word travels fast if they don't. While in there I listened to the manager try to talk several people out of doing extra work, he said it could wait. That is honest business. Highly recommend them. read more

I went in once to get a couple of tires (on a recommendation from the Lube Center across the street) and found the staff to be open, friendly, and not condescending. Women are often treated as though they are less than intelligent by mechanics, but that is not the case at Wilson Tire and Auto. I kept going back for repairs on my aging car, and I have always been treated fairly. When I needed to have my brake drums and rotors replaced, they pointed out that the pads still had plenty of wear left on them and I didn't have to replace them if I didn't want to! I have been impressed with the service at Wilson Tire in Germantown. I visited initially when I needed new tires for our Toyota Tacoma. I researched a number of makes and models looking to maximize traction, especially in snow conditions, without sacrificing gas mileage, handling, noise when commuting on 270, and too much from my wallet. I narrowed my choices to about 4 different tires and began doing more intense price comparisons along with investigating shops to mount the tires. I had prices online from both Tire Buyer and Tire Rack along with listings of their affiliated installers and started visiting some of the local shops. At Wilson I initially spoke with Toby, and he began giving me cost estimates for the different tires if purchased directly from them. On one he was able to match the online cost, but on the others either the online price was lower than he could match or unavailable from his typical distributors. With two models, he noted what other customers had commented as Wilson had installed several and rolled out similar tires (same model but different size) that he had in the back for me to examine. Another model he said that they had only installed a couple, but that he didn't remember any complaints or subsequent visits by those customers for other services where they might have commented on the tires. The last model, which he could not get from his distributors was a tire that he liked on one of his previous vehicles and wore well before the tread has worn to the point of needing to be changed. Absolutely zero pressure toward a particular brand, and a thorough explanation about how the online purchase process worked if I went that route. A few days later I decided on a tire, purchased them online, and them delivered directly to Wilson. They called when the tires arrived, and since I would be driving by the shop I stopped in person to schedule the installation time. When I entered the customer service area, Toby asked if I wanted to see the tires and took me into the garage section. I then noticed that the shop had a road force balancer. Since one of my high school jobs had been at a gas station that serviced pulp wood trucks and repaired flats, I had balanced many tires on the typical spin balancing machines. Another customer walked into the customer service area so Toby introduced me to one of the mechanics, Sean, who showed me the balancer. He and I then spoke for about an hour, and I can say that man knows his way around engines. Back in the customer service area, we scheduled the appointment. When I arrived, they immediately took my truck into the service area while I stayed in the lobby. There I got to listen to Toby and the other shop manager handle phone calls and customers in person. They were customer oriented and did not talk down to any customer and more importantly gave straight-forward answers. A couple of customers had failed emissions tests, and they received the likely best and worst case scenarios. What really impressed me though was a senior couple who drove up in a small truck with the engine running rough enough to hear clearly inside. As the man and woman sat in the lobby, they discussed amongst themselves the possibility that any repair might be too expensive. About 10 minutes later Sean walked in and told them that one of the plug wires had come unseated and a vacuum connection had disintegrated due to age. They asked about cost and time. He said their truck was ready and the cost nothing because he merely connected a plug wire and had a remnant of tubing long enough so it took only a minute or so for the repair and he just checked fluid levels, belts, hoses, and life left on the break pads and tread wear and everything was OK. Neither a scam nor any nickel and diming vulnerable customers. No problems with my tire install, and I even went into the back to watch the alignment which I knew I needed even without seeing any readings from the check. Some miles later I went back in to have the tires rotated and combined an oil change since the combo was more cost effective. No problems or concerns with that routine maintenance. When I changed the oil myself this last time, I noticed that they had even wiped off the oil that spills onto the skid plate when you remove the filter. I do recommend going to their website to print out coupons. They will tell you to get the appropriate coupon for any particular special they may be running that week, so you can save some time along with about $10 as I did with the oil change and rotation. They also have website where you can learn basic information about a variety of repairs and request estimates directly from the page. I highly recommend the shop for tire installations and even though I have not had such services performed I would bring my vehicles in for major repairs or diagnostics based upon what I observed and my conversation with Sean. Like most things involving auto repair, it's always "something else" and it's a mechanic's job to notice problems so I'm used to the oversell. I will say that although I paid an astronomical $275.00 for a pair of new, basic tires (compared to what I could have done closer to a less available place in my native P.G. County), the service was fast, professional, and I can tell these guys are straight shooters. I'd definitely go back to them, but not for anything minor like windshield wiper replacements or anything. If I need a rotation, I can find cheaper places locally, BUT these guys were fully packed and still got my flat and new tires done in the span of a few hours same day. So for that alone, the rating I gave them sticks. I'll do some shopping around to see what it's like price wise elsewhere but in this case, time was not on my side and GEICO pretty much made it so they'd only tow this spot anyway. No love lost.
