I was born in 1951 in York, PA. As far back as I can remember, my grandmother who was a permanent York resident until her death, used to ply us with Fitzkee's candies at Easter and Christmas especially. She always had Fitzkee's in the house. I loved their chocolate covered "eggs" filled with peanut butter, coconut, and peanut butter/marshmallow. Got plenty of their chocolate eggs, bunnies, etc., in my Easter basket every year, even after moving away. I would give you 10 stars if I could. read more

I came in to buy a gift of boxed candies, gift-wrapped. I asked for a pound of "seconds", and the lady serving me grabbed a bag. After just watching several people get their own boxed candies, I asked, "No box?" "We don't box seconds." "But I'm looking for a gift, and you gift wrap, don't you?" "The boxes have Fitzkee's name on them, and they [seconds] don't look good," she said, by way of explanation. She added, "It's management policy." ~beat~ I replied, "Thank you for your time," and left. 1. They're your own candies. If you don't want people to know where they came from, why sell them in the first place? People will still have the receipt with your name on it, you know. 2. Just because my first request had been the seconds, how do you know I didn't want more after that? You didn't ask, and you made no apologies. You didn't even offer a token "Sorry," which the other four customers in the store at that time can attest to. 3. For that matter, you didn't even give me the courtesy of even saying "Goodbye", or "Have a nice day", or some other banality. Instead, you remained mute, and your expression was one of "You don't mean anything to me. I don't know who you are, and I don't care. You're wasting my time." 4. This. Was. A. Birthday. Present. For. Tomorrow (Sunday). The fact that I'd asked about gift wrapping should have clued you into the fact that this was meant to be something special for someone. In point of fact, she'd just had a rough, completely rappy two weeks; for the past five days, she hasn't been able to even go out of the house; and the candies I was going to order would have absolutely cheered her up. But none of this means anything to you. How could you have known? All you knew was that a customer wanted a gift box, you weren't going to give him one, and reason as to why he'd wanted one in the first place was completely immaterial, not worth your time to even offer the courtesy of asking why. read more

Placed an order over a week ago to pick up today at 3, hours posted were 9-3. Coordinated it with another order that needs to be picked up at 3:30 close by. Just received a call that they are closing at noon today, had to cancel my order because I could not get there by noon. Never again! First and last time ordering from here! read more

i grew up in Red Lion and my mother introduced me to Mrs. Fitzkee and her delicious creations in the 1940s. After 23 years I married, moved away and traveled worldwide. Never did I find a better candy--not even in Belgium. My favorites are peanut butter eggs and the ones with peanut butter and marshmallow. I miss you every day and especially at Easter. read more

If I lived near here, I would never buy grocery store candy again. Unfortunately, I live in FL. and only come to PA, twice a yr. But on those trips this is a must stop shop. Their gummy candies and chocolates are amazing!!! I always make sure to stock up so that I will have plenty. I lived in Lancaster county for 11 years and had a friend who grew up in York. Thankfully, she took me to Fitzkees when I first moved there because it became a staple for my family. I now live in Florida and my brothers still live up there; every time they come to visit it goes without saying that the first stop before the airport is to get my chocolates. read more

The best tasting chocolate candies I've sampled in a long time and they're a family owned & operated operation (since 1934!) right here in the York, Pa. area! Stopped by Brown's Orchids (another great family owned local business) this weekend and thought my wife & I would try their chocolates. My wife sampled the coconut clusters and I tried their dark choc. covered raisins (and peanuts). We were both blown away by the quality, taste & freshness of the chocolates. I particularly enjoyed the choco. covered raisins as I could really taste the raisins while savoring the exceptional dark chocolate. I've found that my taste buds have changed with age, now favoring dark over milk chocolate (and it's healthier!). I also now substitute quality over quantity as my mantra in my old age. But don't let the prices scare you away, sometimes real quality does cost more. My wife, sister and I once bought a very expensive bite-size piece of chocolate for several dollars at a high-end chocolate confectioner in Maryland. We cut it in three pieces and each got a chance to sample something extraordinary & special and here I am still talking about it! Thankfully, Fitzkee's candies are more affordable where were can sample several pieces for the same several dollars! read more

I grew up loving Fitzkee's candies. My mom used to sell candy for them in MD and I remember driving with her to York PA to pick up the orders. My mom used to buy several different kinds of candy so she could put them together as sample boxes so people could try the candy before ordering it. My mom only sold the candy around Easter time and every year, the amount of orders grew because it was so good and such great quality. My favorite is the coconut bon-bons and the white chocolate peanut butter/marshmellow eggs. I'm looking forward to buying some in the near future. I would highly recommend you try their candy at least once and I'll guarantee you'll be back for more. read more
