Yes, as the name implies, everything in this store is $5 or below. It's a bit of a step up from a Dollar General. Very spacious and plenty of fun things to buy. Everything from cell phone cases, to candy, to little plastic Incredible Hulk figurines that fly like a mini helicopter all on their own those were REALLY cool! The aisles are very spacious, and the store is quite large. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, I had to return my mini flying Incredible Hulk figurine the next day (it quit working) and they were very accommodating. This place is full of interesting/inexpensive trinkets and gift ideas.

There is also a great Lego store, Barnes and Noble, and plenty of good food choices. The worst part of La Cantera is that half of the people who go here seem like they are on their first week on Earth and do not know what they are doing. I love people who walk four in a row and block entire walkways, or people who stop randomly in the middle of the path to look at something. You make my life so miserable. Parking is also pretty insane if you are trying to park up close, but if you have patience, anything is possible. Be careful of the reckless drivers who have no courtesy for anything but themselves. The layout of the mall is pretty nice. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom Rack have some higher price tag shops surrounding them, while Dillard's and Macy's have more affordable stores nearby. Across the street from the main hub is additional shopping with Zara, J.Crew, J.Jill, Free People, H&M, and most of the dining options, including Perry's, Grimaldi's, Yard House, Palenque Grill, Cheesecake Factory, and more. When the weather is nice and it is not scorching hot, The Shops are a great place to visit in San Antonio. Even when it is hot, there is plenty of shade and air conditioning to help make it less miserable. RIYL: Shopping around some of the most unaware people to ever exist.

Parking was limited due to the valet parking lot. The restroom near Build-a-Bear smelled like a landfill. Management/Owners put more energy in a valet parking lot than the restroom. Was invited to the Beauty Trend Event, the Skinfluence Festival last Friday, March 13 from 5-8pm…read more Holly Hoffman, the Store Administrator informed me of this specific event and Kay Soria had notified me of the 15% off Beauty sale from March 9-March 15, 2026. I RSVP'd and attended the festive event. I checked in and received a raffle ticket. You could see how they cordoned off the Beauty section as only guests w/RSVPs were allowed in the event. I could see different sections where they had demos for makeup, hair, skin, eyebrows, skincare and perfume. Angel saw me looking towards the first stop which featured Concealers and Setting Sprays by MAC & Charlotte Tillbury. She assisted me then passed me off to Lauren who helped apply some products and give tips. I showed her a list of my makeup which she had some in stock but had to ship others. When Lauren was applying my makeup, Angel was so sweet and brought me a Margie when I said "I should have a drink!" Lauren did great as she had to color-match me from several lines. She helped me find some products. Jordan from MAC came by and suggested a hydrating spray and the order of applying skincare since she said she was an Esthetician. She was bubbly, friendly, helpful and very positive! She was even giving me hugs & high fives! Now that's the Nordstrom service I'm used to! They had a DJ, Cotton Candy Margaritas, Bottled Water, Coca Cola, Charcuterie Bites, a cheesy Mac n Cheese type of dish and festive cake bites. I went to the Jo Malone section and a rep showed some fragrances. The DJ music was so loud so I walked out to get another drink and bites and came back to the Lancome station looking for a product and was helped by a woman holding raffle tickets. The main rep was busy so she helped shade-match me. I had to order online since that product was out of stock. Then she walked me towards the fragrance section. Another rep helped me as I was looking for Jasmine scents. She offered Diptyquem, Gucci, Good Girl Jasmine & Tom Ford's Jasmine. They didn't have samples for Good Girl & Tom Ford so she said to check Sephora. While checking out the scents, I heard my name being called for the raffle so I excitedly showed up to get my prize! Yay!! I went back to the fragrance rep and asked her about the Estee Lauder perfumes so she walked with me there. I was interested in a Gardenia scent so I asked if I could have a sample? She said sure and walked away. I sat for awhile waiting for her until the Estee Lauder rep told me she thinks she ended her shift?? The rep made me a sample. I thought that was inconsiderate and just a "Someone will help you momentarily..." or something to that effect would've been nice. Usually Nordstrom reps are mindful and respectful of my time. At least the Estee Lauder rep followed thru. The Beauty Trend Event was nice on a Friday evening as they're usually on a Saturday when everyone's shopping and it can get quite hectic. It was a pretty fun event and the theme of raffle stations where you can try different products was a great idea. I hope someone sends me a list of demos next time so I can prepare and check out products and reviews ahead of time. I like the convenience of being able to pick up items at Nordstrom Rack since there's one near me vs. driving all the way to Nordstrom La Cantera.

These security males have no balls to stand up and do what is right and their management ( female ones) suck . They get bored and start tripping on innocent customers when they do not have any thing better to do. I wish the company will fire them all and do an extensive checking and training first before hiring security . The ones they currently have now are dangerous because they falsely accuse ( their own attitude they think is being done by customers ) and not to mention very unkind and not good looking at all lol . Their faces resembles their dark deeds . Don't shop here, they literally suck in customer service . They sell used items . Shows no class .

How can I offer such a negative review and still call it a one star? I have never in my life had…read moresuch a rude customer service experience. Anywhere. I grew up with a Mother whose 50 year experience was in one retail department store.' The owner had a poster in the back that listed the 10 Commandments of Customer Service. At the bottom of the poster was this "The Customer is Always Right." So yes, I'm old-school. A young woman named Angela brought out my online order. She said it was already paid for. I explained I needed to pay for it with a gift card I'd had 1-2 years. She kept refusing my request, as if I did not understand. She was reluctant to do a refund so I could pay for the merchandise with a gift card. I explained that's exactly what she needed to do. Her body language fully expressed her disdain for this process. She maintained a smugness throughout the entire exchange, asked me to open the package. That's NOT a standard operating procedure for customer service. She proceeded with the refund, stonefaced. No conversation, and proceeded to re-charge the merchandise. Never a 'thank you for explaining'. Never an 'I'm sorry for misunderstanding this.' Her response to my frustration with having to coax the entire process was 'What's your attitude? I'm trying to help you!' Is this the new JCP customer service? She called for her manager who was equally stonefaced. The manager Alex, like Angela, was just as reluctant to complete the exchange. She kept telling me it was already paid for. After requesting that she complete the exchange ... at least five times ... AND honor the sale price, she finally acquiesced. During this exchange, I told her that Angela was a very beautiful young girl, but her beauty did not compensate for her vile passive aggressive stance. I reiterated this several times, no 'I apologize for your experience,' nothing. When I repeated the complaint, she said she'd acknowledged it, but would not have me talking ill of her employee. Ill of her employee? A complaint does not produce a rosy glowing compliment. I gave her the good with the bad. She too was dismissive. When the altercation/transaction was finished, my response was 'I can tell she gets her customer service skills from you.' So beware this duo who doesn't understand not every transaction achieves electronic processing digital perfection. There is a human being paying for the merchandise that IS allowed a preference for how to complete the transaction. Mr Penney would be so sad. He would have NEVER protected such an impetulant excuse for a retail clerk nor a store manager. Need I say more? However the store that was built on his values no longer honors that code.

Our family LOVES hitting up TJMAXX while on trips. (Heck, we love them at home too)…read more I do like when the TJMAXX and HomeGoods are combined like this location. (Our local one has both in the same plaza but they are not connected and you have to walk or drive to the other... this is much more convenient.) We stayed on the TJMAXX side this trip. Although we didn't find EVERYTHING we needed (always hit or miss with finding fragrance free products), we did find a couple things we wanted. The main negative was that we felt like the workers, mainly in the checkout line, were more concerned with arranging products and moving stuff than about customers. There were like 4 employees that were barreling through, making us move. Along the same idea, the line here was so long... riddle me this, this brand of stores always have like 15 registers but only have like 3 open. This results in lengthy waits at like 99% of TJMAXX/MARSHALLS/HOMEGOODS store. Please open more registers. Makes us not want to wait when the checkout line is like 20+ deeps every time we visit.

The service was good, I was specifically walking in to look at their press-on nails section which was an utter joke. For such a huge store their selection of press-ons was basically nothing, I didn't even take a picture of it since I was so flabbergasted. The section was right next to the registers in between the super long line of customers. Not a great way to take your time to look at items when 50 people are staring at you. The so-called press-on section was maybe a foot long & foot wide with about 7 sets to choose from. I will say the price is the same as in other TJ Maxx's. I felt like the employees and management were staring at me and it felt weird. I didn't buy anything. The whole store feels so overstimulating with so much stuff piled on-top of each other. Will not be back.
