The biggest challenge was the lack of floor assistance--no one was available to help for most of my time there. Toward the end, I did find one helpful associate who set up a dressing room and assisted with items, which I truly appreciated. Another major issue was the clothing tags. Many items weren't labeled correctly, and the hangers didn't match the actual sizes. I had to check inside each garment to confirm sizing, which made the process frustrating and time-consuming. This isn't the Macy's I remember from past shopping experiences. While the quality of the clothing--especially professional wear--is still excellent, the overall shopping experience felt inconvenient and disappointing. Thank you Dawn

Training and communication were inconsistent from the very beginning. On my first night, I was trained by an employee who was terminated by my second night. As a new hire, I assumed the way I was trained was correct, especially since no member of leadership ever corrected my work or provided feedback afterward. I worked overnight stocking and continued doing the job the way I was trained for nearly three months. During that time, I was never written up, never tardy, and never received any form of disciplinary action or coaching. No manager ever pulled me aside to discuss expectations or performance concerns. The overnight work environment itself also lacked professionalism. Some employees who remained employed regularly displayed behavior that was immature and unprofessional, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable at times and reflected a lack of accountability from leadership. Almost three months in, I started hearing rumors from coworkers that the overnight manager, Calvin, was not satisfied with my performance. Because I knew him outside of work, I chose to speak with him directly and asked how I was doing. He told me I was doing fine and had nothing to worry about. Based on that conversation, I trusted his word and decided not to go to the People's Office (HR), even though I had considered it due to the mixed messages. A day or two later, shortly after midnight, I received a text message from Calvin stating that I was being let go and that it "wasn't personal, just business." This was surprising and discouraging, especially after being told directly that my performance was fine. Being terminated via text message, without prior warning, documentation, or an opportunity to improve, felt unprofessional. With better leadership, this situation could have been avoided. Clear expectations, proper training, honest feedback, and a performance improvement plan would have helped set employees up for success. Unfortunately, the overnight shift lacked structure, transparency, and strong leadership, which made this a negative experience overall.

At any rate, I attempt to make my return with receipt and asked for the original amount to be placed on a different card. Despite having the receipt; they insisted that they couldn't and expected me to either take a $700 store credit or take the oversized item back to my car without assistance. I did them a favor and let them credit the $700 back to the original payment method and not make a sale/transaction of equal amount. It makes me no difference--if they want to operate like the other department stores who have since fallen by the wayside; then Nordstrom will, too, meet the same demise. I will not be shopping the Troy location in the future. I'd much rather go to Novi where the staff is more reasonable and the policies don't impact customer service.

I came in looking for a specific winter coat style/color. They have lots on sale - most discounted 50% with some even more. I found 5 different makes of the coat I was in search of. After trying them on, it came down to two. Due to people moving things around and signs not always correct, I looked for a price checking machine. They used to have them throughout the store (I hope they add them back!) but I could not find any in the usual spots so I asked a worker. Instead of telling me where one was, she took me to the empty register and scanned both coats. Both were on an excellent sale so I wanted to try them on again for a direct comparison. When I decided, Olivia helped me at the register. She was quick and helpful. I love my new coat - and thanks to Punxsutawney Phil, I'll have about 6 more weeks to enjoy it.

It's a nicer brand of suit jackets that Macy's carries. Met a worker named Dominique and he was quick to begin understanding what I was looking for and quick to help. He worked with me for about an hour trying on different coats and looking in the back for other sizes. He really put a lot of effort in while managing other customers that came up with similar questions. I was very happy with his service and ultimately bought a jacket that he recommended and helped me get fitted for. I recently stopped by the mall to see what this place offered. During my visit, I get to understand that this is two separate Mall entities connected to a sky bridge. One side of the mall is purely upscale high-end stores and the other end of the mall is upscale stores with medium end stores. This mall was absolutely packed too to the rim! I really enjoyed the diversity of the stores here and in fact this is the first mall where it's 100% occupied. They don't even have small shops in the middle of the mall as well like most malls do. The food selection is actually pretty good too! This mall is really clean and I'm Amazed by how well the bathrooms are as well. Coming here on a weekend is really tough to find parking! Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here this mall is more of a 4.5 star experience but I will say it is one of the best malls I've been to in recent memory.
