I almost always find a few books that I want to take home. I definitely prefer books over more time looking at any kind of screen. And the price can't be beat. The variety is good too. They suggested several new series for us to try. The books are in excellent condition, and the store is clean and well-kept. Prices are reasonable, and there were even free advance publisher copies at the entrance! Other customers were friendly too. We left with a big stack of new books and are excited to enjoy a nice Sunday reading them. Next time, we plan to sell our used books in good condition to make space on our shelves. What a fun idea!

I met him immediately upon entering the store, as he was sitting right near the door. His name is Dr. Pickles and he is just as lovely as the shop he calls home. The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As the shop's name suggests, they have ample signage outlining the rules and guidelines for trading with them. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.

It is not a place to go and pick up the newest best-selling mystery or romance novel. Even if you're not looking for Quaker publications, but are looking for texts on spiritual matters this bookstore would be an excellent resource for you.

They have an extensive Pennsylvania section which includes biographies about many of of the small colleges dotting the southeast part of the state, and a large amount of genealogical books as well. I was strapped for time and didn't get a chance to explore the entire store, but the sections I perused left me with a great feeling about the place. The lady who helped me check out was extremely friendly as well. The owners of THIS store have been in the book business for a while. Both put in years at a large chain bookstore. They've used that experience to create a store people WANT to shop. My favorite finds are cheap weird stuff from publishers I've never heard of.
