First, the good - the bakery is very clean and airy, the employee helping us was very kind and helpful, and service was prompt. Unfortunately...these donuts just missed the mark for us. We ordered 2 iced breve lattes, our daughter got some juice from the cooler, and we ordered 4 donut options to split between 3 of us. We didn't care for the brand of espresso they used - it's really floral and just wasn't what we prefer. I think the shots were pulled right, we just didn't care for that roast. And the donuts...we got maple, King Kong, blueberry-lemon, and vanilla. The maple and vanilla tasted almost identical - just sweet on sweet on sweet. The King Kong was better - it had thick, smoky bacon on top that at least gave it another dimension. The last one we got was the blueberry-lemon. This was the favorite for all of us - you could taste both flavors and the lemon was tart enough to cut through some of the sweetness. Additionally...these were VERY expensive. 4 donuts, 2 iced lattes, and a bottle of juice was $50! I had been looking forward to trying this place for a long time and it was just disappointing. So excited I stumbled upon this cute little spot I actually had it saved to my go to in Nashville not knowing there was one in Murfreesboro The young lady there was super nice and explained all the donuts and pastries they offer as it was my first time That was super sweet of her I ordered 2 of the cronut style donuts and they were delicious They were almost $6 a donut but definitely worth it and shareable Will definitely be back Great hospitality and great dessert read more

I'd had 5 Daughters on my Nashville bookmark collection for a long time. When I saw there was a location in Murfreesboro during a recent visit, I knew I had to grab some treats. This location is in a nice shopping area, though parking is fairly limited. It looks like the shop might be able to be open air/it has large windows that look like they open, but it was chilly and rainy during my visit so they were shut. The inside was clean and an employee greeted me politely and seemed eager to help or answer questions. They have mini and regular sizes of donut; the regular sized ones are quite large. I imagine minis would be good to try a lot of flavors at once. They do have an impressive array of creative flavors. I think they have some flavors that stay the same every month and then additionally monthly special flavors. These are more like cronuts than traditional donuts; they have many layers of flakey pastry. I love donuts like this! They're rolled in sugar and then filled with cream and covered in glaze. They're decadent! Given this is such a popular growing brand, they were out of a few items and the counter looked a little sparse. I was also surprised to find that there really weren't any yummy aromas or baking smells in the shop. It didn't smell unpleasant at all or anything, just not like a bakery. I can't help but imagine perhaps the donuts are brought in after being prepared elsewhere. Even if that's the case, though, the product really didn't suffer for it. I got their take on a Samoa donut and a sea salt chocolate cream donut and brought them home to share with my husband. They were both incredibly rich...but also quite delicious. I liked them both and it's hard to pick a favorite. If pressed, I'd maybe go the salted chocolate cream donut, simply because it was a little different than what I expected but in a good way. It wasn't too sweet or too salty and the cream had a fantastic texture. I'd happily return to try other flavors. Maybe in the future I'll get to visit the original location! Came here to try some doughnuts out for breakfast. I believe this location is fairly new, as Five Daughters continues to expand their Nashville empire. We were the only people in here and this place frankly looked closed from the outside. I think everyone and their mother was in line for the brand new In-and-Out burger down the street. They're known for their croissant-like dough, which the woman working their recommended I try. I got 3 of the little donuts. My favorite was the chocolate covered one, I thought the seasonal gingerbread or whatever it was was too sweet. The other reviewers are correct, this place is not cheap. We even asked for a cup of water and were told we'd have to buy the bottle. Boo. I was very impressed that they said they get a shipment of fresh donuts in every morning from the main bakery in Nashville. Impressive. read more

I love donuts, but not matter how hard I try I can't totally get behind croissant donuts. They're flaky, but almost too flaky. I think I just want a normal donut most of the time. These were light and fluffy. But I'm partial to normal donuts. Service was good and quick. Its a small shop, but lots of seating outdoors which is nice. read more

I have gone to the one in Nashville as well but I like the openness and accessibility to this store front better. The place was real cute and clean which who can't appreciate that! We went a little late in the morning but we lucked out and got what we wanted and was very happy with everything we got! We killed it needless to say! The server was great but I felt bad for her because as soon as we got in line she had at least 15 walk in after us and she had to do it all alone! Sorry! Wish she had more help but the good news was she had it all sold. Everything was tasty for sure. We will definitely be back to this location not only for the great tasting donuts and all but it's situated on a perfect location to really enjoy your food. I'm so happy this location opened!! Elevated donuts, definitely not your regular donut. They have monthly flavors as well as their menu's staples. Also paleo options. This location doesn't have any sitting options but there is some outdoor sitting in this plaza. As far as service, everyone has always been polite and helpful. read more

Five Daughters is not your typical donut shop. I really don't considered them as a donut shop. More of a dessert/pastry type of bakery! They are a bit on the pricy side compared to your average donut place but they are quality donuts! Their donuts are similar to NYC cronuts, but they call them 100 layers. I am a big fan of the purist and maple glaze! I've tried their Franklin and Nashville locations and this location here is actually ok and a lot closer to home! read more

I always love a good pastry so thought I would give them a try. The place is bright and the "menu" are the pastries available behind the acrylic with the name and price. Most of the large size pastries are $4.75 to $5.45 and the mini's are $2.75 each. I enjoyed the story behind the company and there are five daughters behind the concept, the pastries are made in Franklin and distributed to the various stores, and they hope to have breakfast sandwiches in the future. I selected a Quinn (hundred layer dough layered with sugar and coarse sea salt), Quinnamon Maple (a cinnamon bun with maple frosting), Mini Purist, and a Mini Cinnamon Sugar Toast. I waited until I got home to sample them and here are my thoughts: Quinn: Not a fan...more salt than anything. I tried it at room temperature and then heated via my Air Fryer...did not care for it in either form. Quinnamon Maple: At room temperature was just OK, heated in the Air Fryer tasted more like a cinnamon bun with maple icing. Mini Purist: The cake part is good, the glaze was way too sweet for me. Mini Cinnamon Sugar Toast: My favorite overall...I could eat a dozen of these...but not at $2.75 each! Overall...these were good but for me there are better pastry and donut options available in Murfreesboro, especially for the price. read more

Today is National Do-nut Day Day and I was bent on celebrating. Several years ago the chef teaching Culinary Arts at the high school were I taught brought in several of their donuts. There was no store at Murfreesboro at that time, so he imported them from a town about 45 minutes away. Ever since, I've wanted to go there, but could not justify a road trip just for do-nuts. "Cronuts", or the 100 layer Do-nut, was featured on television and that only heightened my desire. Planning a trip to a gig over in Franklin, I decided I would leave in enough time to enjoy these treats. Voila! They opened this shop in Murfreesboro. As soon as I woke up, I headed over. I was not disappointed at all! They were GREAT. Mind you, these are gourmet do-nuts. Probably the best if not in the country, at least in Middle Tennessee. Located at "The Fountains", the outdoor ambiance cannot be beaten on a nice day. I say that because they have no tables/chairs. There is a stand up counter, but there are many outdoor seating areas in a common courtyard. Enough already! Let's get to the do-nuts. "Cronuts" is a mash up of croissant and do-nut. As I remember the TV show, they layer dough by folding it over itself as a croissant or phyllo pastries are made. Next, they cut out the shape and again, as I remember, they fry it. Maybe they bake it, but I don't care. They are light and poofy, about an inch and a half high. When you bite into it, you can see and feel the many layers. Mouth feel is phenomenal and the dough appears to be designed to not overtake the flavor of the toppings. Two sizes are available. Full sized do-nuts sit next to a few mini do-nuts. As I could not settle on only two do-nuts to try, I opted for the minis. Chocolate, Strawberry, Cinnamon and the Purist were all available and I got one of each. Some may find the fillings too sweet, but I liked them Also on the menu are yeast do-nuts and other pastries. I will never try them because the cronuts are so good. The Fountains (at Gateway) deserve note because the site provides much of the ambiance. Gardens, an outdoor fireplace, clean sidewalks, a putting green, and a beautiful view of a nearby park make it a very pleasant experience. Events include movies under the stars, concerts, and winter ice skating. Value is subjective. These pastries are a bit expensive. But, they are worth the cost. I've enjoyed gourmet do-nuts in several locations including a local small business and more widespread chains. These beat them hands down. read more
